What are the best reasons to believe that the earth is flat
« on: October 31, 2007, 03:43:07 PM »
Procrastination   :P

I was writing a paper for my astronomy class and I was just wondering what were the strongest evidence that the earth was flat according to to the flat earth society , since i can only fit in few points in the paper (trying to write without taking sides) So will discard the pictures as an evidence that earth is round, for the paper.

and well  was procrastinating as i said  P can you tell me what are the strongest points  so i can research them and write the paper about them.

Take a look at Earth: Not a Globe for experiments.  A link to it is contained in the FAQ, which you should have read.

All the evidence you need it right out your window.

Astronomy is completely observational and interpretational. You can interpret astronomy however you wish. We interpret astronomy as agreeing with the Flat Earth model.

Nope. Try again.

You came here and sought us out. We did not seek you out. Therefore the onus is on you to demonstrate that your hypothetical model of the earth is correct.

Enough with the copying and pasting of posts.

look out the window, you say? well, try this: go to any tall building, and look out at the horizon. notice that it seems curved.

surprise! if the world was flat, there would be no horizon!

or go to the seashore and watch the ships going over the horizon. it happens too quickly for the earth to be flat. that reasoning was quoted by Christopher Colombus!

Interpretational? Astronomy isn't some religious text, Tom. Perhaps, in another thread, you may wish to enlighten us to your interpretations of astronomy.

I agree with your statement, you do interpret astronomy to agree with FE, just like you interpret every other aspect of science.
