Hello. I'm pretty new here but I've heard about this F.E.S. a while ago and it made me think.
I took out a calculator, google earth and the flat earth map and started drawing lines between points.
Now let's assume me (a RE'er) and a FE-er would take a little aeroplane trip starting off from Stanley, Falkland islands and from there plot a course toward Invercargill, New Zealand (somewhere in the south).
Now if FE theory is correct such a trip would be about 28.320 kilometers atleast and you'd have to pass South America and Mexico.
If RE theory is correct the trip would be about 8.500 kilometers. Significantly shorter and you'd also be flying nearby Antarctica for most of the time.
Depending on the speed of the aircraft the trip would take more than 3 times longer on a flat earth. Which is a pretty significant difference. So if we monitor the speed of the aircraft and our surroundings, depending on the amount of days it would take for us to arrive in New Zealand we'd be able to work out which theory is actually right.
So the discussional value in this topic lies in two things:
- Am I missing somekind of weird loophole I overlooked in how the FE theory was worked out?
- Which (rich) FE'er is willing to take up the experiment? Your treat though I'm saving for a camera.
