Statistics show that 78% of people who quote statistics without a source have a tendency to eat hamburgers at the beach on sundays....

To be honest, it's kind of hard to get the first time you read/hear it.  But I agree with it.

That's subjective. I personally think dying is worse than life imprisonment because when you die, that's it, lights out, goodbye existence. At least for life imprisonment you're still alive.

Yeah, and you can have a shower, each day of the year, looking at the floor, trying to 'find' the soap.

Retribution as a moral principle is incompatible with a scientific view of human behaviour. As scientists, we believe that human brains, though they may not work in the same way as man-made computers, are as surely governed by the laws of physics. When a computer malfunctions, we do not punish it. We track down the problem and fix it, usually by replacing a damaged component, either in hardware or software.

Humans cannot be correctly compared to computers; they are two different objects.  Retribution has been used since before humanity because it is an effective solution at fixing th problem by preventing more problems caused by the criminal as well as encourage others not to repeat such a particular act of crime.

"A September 2000 New York Times survey found that during the last 20 years, the homicide rate in states with the death penalty has been 48 to 101 percent higher than in states without the death penalty.

Correlation does not equal cause.  There are other factors involved in higher muder rates such as total population, population density, associated culture with the state, ethnic conflict, etc.

It is also important to point out that since the the death penalty was reinstated in the US 944 individuals have been executed and 117 have been condemned to death and then exonerated (found not guilty of their crimes).  That is to say that 11%, or slightly more than 1 in 10 people who are condemned to death are actually legally found to be innocent of the crime.  While it could be argued that you could cut the costs of the death penalty by lessening their rights to appeal, it's important to note that 1 in 10 people you are killing have actually not committed the crime they are being executed for.

The death penalty, like all systems, are not perfect.  The large amount of cases overturned was due to advances in identifying DNA evidence.  The system requires constant revision and has become sticter in determining if a suspect is  guilty to a substantially high probability.

]that is exactly what i am saying. the strongest laws we have should be laws provided at protecting children, and harshly punishing those who harm children. their is a HUGE difference between killing a grown man and killing an 8 year ild child. If you dont see it, i feel sorry for you. Even other criminals hate child molesters. they are given the lowest regard in prisons. And no beast... i wont look up sources for this.

Okay, we are getting off topic. Why do you think the death penalty should be used on these people? Why not lock them up for life. They aren't costing us a huge amount of money to support, and it still is a human life.

It costs about $45,000 a year to keep an inmate in prison.  This adds up over the years and with the increase in inmate population.

What I don't understand is how can you get multiple life sentences or multiple death penalties.  You're going to die, Why give them another one?

The death penalty is a Biblical Right! These are even more important thamn the rights we have by law. God orders us to kill homosexuals, zoophiles (more commonly referred to as "furries"), and witches! How can you say God's word is wrong?

Anyone who claims the death penalty is wrong will burn in Hell! May God have mercy on your worthless soul!

And that's why murder is a sin.  And the Bible tells you how much to ask for your daughter when you sell her into slavery.  Is slavery biblical?

Yes:

Titus 2:9-10
Ephesians 6:5-9

We can even beat them:

Luke 12:47-48

You can smoke weed for religious purposes?

The church of Raist is now open.

Slaves are to the left, hookahs are to the right, and the church prostitutes are draped everywhere.

You should start a petition, demanding we get our right to own slaves. The Bill of Rights was made to protect our religious freedoms. And while they are updating it they can go ahead and only allow the first amendment to be used by Christians.
