69% of people think the earth is round,
31% of people know it's round but very, very slightly squashed.
1% of people think it is flat.
with a 1% margin of error.

This is how much impact the flat earth society has.

If you have any complaints about these statistics then... I refer you to the faq. Oh revenge is so sweet!

I sure hope you would. We'd all be thoroughly screwed over if the earth stopped moving.

I love this argument. Because 1% of people believe the earth is flat, that equates to an exact 1% chance that the earth actually is flat. Popularity is an important appeal if logic doesn't serve your interests.

Let's play along, here are the truths you may not have known:
The earth is round
Columbus discovered America
Vampire bats suck blood
The first automobile was a Ford
Jupiter is the densest planet
Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world
Sherlock Holmes always said, "Elementary my dear Watson"
Houdini died in one of his stunts
Egypt has the worlds largest pyramid
Cleopatra was an Egyption
The Sahara is the worlds largest desert
Napoleon was short
Koalas are bears
Bats are blind
Meteors are hot when they hit the earths surface
Humans use 10% of their brains
Electricity moves at the speed of light
Earths north pole is a magnetic north pole
Melting icebergs raise water levels
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb
Thomas Crapper invented the toilet
Tetanus comes from rust
Cracking knuckles causes arthritis

You construct and attack a straw man. The OP's argument dealt with the impact of FES, not the validity of FET. But, of course, we've come to expect you to do such stunts.

Well then, you should be sure to have TheEngineer update the FAQ to remove the welcome message. He might get around to it this year.

Oh and even if this isn't the actual FES, he can still impugn it here.

We've already been over this. This forum is called the FES. That does not equate to being the actual organization.

I could entitle a forum "The Federal Bureau of Investigation" and have a welcome message saying "Welcome to the FBI." Does that mean it's the FBI? No.

You attack a straw man. I suggest only that the FAQ renounce the Forum's alliance with the FES since Agent knows this to be the case.

You really need to stop imagining arguments where there are none.

Gee, you seem awfully interested in making sure that we all share your unsupported knowledge that Forums are not associated with FES, and then you turn around and say you don't.

You seem rather fickle in your intents.

I'm not imaging an argument, I'm creating one. I'm curious why you think it matters what they state? The ignorant assumptions by people visiting this forum should be of no concern to the administrators. If someone thinks a forum with the title FES means that they are associated, I feel sorry for them.

Welcome to the Flat Earth Society!

I suggest everyone read the FAQ, merely because it answers the general questions they would likely develop upon discovering this forum. Nowhere have I said that they must abide by what it states, because I contest several of the theories contained therein.

And again, the forum's title has nothing to do with whatever real organization may or may not exist.

The earth is round--prove its not
Columbus discovered America--that'd be the cavement. Columbus set up the first sustainable contact between european nations and the "new world"
Vampire bats suck blood--to quote Dracula: "Scrape and lick"
The first automobile was a Ford--definately agree with your lable
Jupiter is the densest planet--Well, we can only estimate its density. Its true that it would float if you had a tub of water big enough, though.
Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world--its the caspian, correct?
Sherlock Holmes always said, "Elementary my dear Watson"--he did once or twice, i believe
Houdini died in one of his stunts--he died from oxygen deprivation during one of his stunts, but the effect was not keeling over dead.
Egypt has the worlds largest pyramid--largest pyramid TOMB, for sure
Cleopatra was an Egyption--she was greek
The Sahara is the worlds largest desert
Napoleon was short--he was 5' 4" on the FRENCH measurement, which put him about 5'7" in real terms, the average height for a male at the time
Koalas are bears--i agree with your labling of this a falsehood
Bats are blind--some are close enough to it it doesn't make a difference (cave bats), but some have very good eye site
Meteors are hot when they hit the earths surface--don't know
Humans use 10% of their brains-- don't know
Electricity moves at the speed of light-- at the speed of an electron!
Earths north pole is a magnetic north pole--i agree with this one
Melting icebergs raise water levels--it does
Thomas Edison invented the light bulb--he and swan did at the same time
Thomas Crapper invented the toilet--flushing toilet, i believe, but i could be wrong
Tetanus comes from rust--tetanus comes from anything, but the germs are often present on rust
Cracking knuckles causes arthritis--it weakens them, which can lead to arthritis
Ignoring the truth does not make it go away, it just makes you ignorant and disempowered.

Can you change reality by inventing new names for ordinary things?

You regularly attack people claiming that FET holds something the FAQ says it doesn't.

Maybe in my own theory of it, simply because the FAQ's explanations are inadequate. The FAQ simply gets the foundation down around the idea. It clearly doesn't solve everything or answer every question. A lot of it, as you well know, has to be revised. I'm not sure why my debate with someone over something not contained in the FAQ would be an issue.

And again, it's more than the title. It's in the FAQ. It's in Daniel's various posts. Do try to keep up.

The title of the forum can appear in other places besides the FAQ.
