Cosmetic Surgery will make peole naturally ugly

  • Cosmetic surgery overcomes a person's natural ugliness.
  • This means that ugly people will find it easier to mate.
  • This means that the ugly genes will get passed on.
  • As cosmetic surgery becomes more readily available and sociably acceptable this will become more prevalent.
  • The ugly genes will spread through humanity like a plague.

Kill all the ugly people while we still have a chance!!!

I don't think I agree with you. If ugly people mate with ugly people, the problem becomes worse. If ugly people receive plastic surgery and mate with good-looking people, the offspring won't be as bad. The cycle would then continue. If anything, instead of the ugly spreading, people will become more average.

You raise an interesting point (divito that is - "agent" is just a befuddled moron).

I think we'll have to run some tests about the dominance of attractive genes and see which are the more the dominant (the U1 gene or the B1 gene - totally not made up). Agent, you have sex with beautiful people and we'll see if your ugliness overcomes their beauty.

The problem is its own solution. You claim that future generations will be statistically more ugly, but admit that the surgical procedures to rectify this will become more readily available. What does it matter if people are born uglier when this can be more easily remedied?

IVF and plastic surgery could not possibly create an increase in ugly people, or an increase in infertility.

Let me put it another way;  Does the existence of plastic surgery mean that an ugly person is more likely to breed than a non-ugly person?

Does IVF mean infertile people are more likely to breed than fertile people?

Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine
British, Austrailian, and American scientists show the major factors for the number of children a women will have are:

1) Race/Culture/Religion
2) Education
3) When they start their first period
4) Age of menopause

Yes, I believed so - as has been pointed out though, physical appearance has little to do with reproduction (which I'm surprised at).

As for the infertility, it could become possible in the distant future that enough genes that cause infertility (I don't even know if infertility can be genetic by the way) get passed around that it becomes more and more prevalent and common.

In the end these weren't serious theories that I was proposing, merely idle ponderings. While I think bypassing infertility would possibly create more infertile people in the future (than plastic surgery create ugly people that is) it was still just a bit of fun.
