For theEngineer
« on: July 20, 2007, 07:53:12 AM »
Quote from: Gulliver
Next there's absolutely nothing magical about Dark Matter. We have many pictures of it too.

This is true: Heres a picture , via gravitational lensing, that allows us to view dark matter

Quote from: Gulliver
For a picture of a black hole, please go to [link]
Also true:

You see the effects of the black hole near the center of the galaxy.

Also, there is new evidence that theEngineer is a liar:
Still waiting on your reference for that Einstein quote you claim. You sure seem to be taking your time. Maybe you're lying?
On FES, you attack a strawman. In Soviet Russia, the strawman attacks you

Do you have any outlandish claims to back up your evidence?

By the very nature of black holes and Dark Matter, they can't be directly observed.

Did you not observe the pictures otr the effects of the bottom picture (i.e. effect of black hole = galaxy)?

Also, I have noticed you have not responded to Gulliver's bottom statement and have not yet proven yourself a pilot.

Why CAN'T Black Holes and dark matter be directly observed?

It seems to me that you assume you are correct and try to back up the theory with evidence. You can't do that. You must find evidence for the theory and then try to proove its true. You can't first assume your theory is correct.

But you just directly observed a black hole indirectly by the galaxy.

Why CAN'T Black Holes and dark matter be directly observed?

"The lack of escaping electromagnetic radiation renders the inside of black holes (beyond the event horizon) invisible, hence the name."

"dark matter refers to hypothetical matter of unknown composition that does not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation to be observed directly"

You can observe their effects, but that is indirect.

Well, even if they are indirect pictures, they are still pictures which clearly shows their existence.
Conclusion: theEngineer lies.

Light can't escape a black hole, so it would be hard for the light reflected off/produced by a black hole to enter a camera lens

It's interesting to note that new research in relativity suggests that we are able to see inside a black hole somehow! I don't exactly know how, and since I am not a relativist, I will not try to explain it. I also don't have any sources :)

I think that some of Stephen Hawkings' new work was about this.
