are objects in space that burn as they enter our atmosphere. But if the universe is expanding, how do we collide with objects moving faster than us? That is, unless we are accelerated into them...

You need to actually understand the scale of the expanding Universe and the law of averages before we could explain it to you. I somehow doubt that you have the requisite intellect.
