I just died a little there. Make that alot. This is perhaps the most insulting, disgusting, and ancient way of thinking that I have ever seen. I now respect these forums more because I though that Tom and company were alone in their ancient ways of thinking...

I think that's a bad view to take; these people are entitled to their views. Just take comfort tin the fact that they are a minority, and only a minority of that minority is in a position to do anything about it.

Who was it who said  "I don't agree with what they said but I'm proud we live in a country where they're allowed to?"

I don't want to run a 1984 style Thought Police (Thinkpol) against them, but it just saddens me that in this world that can think that calloussly against a whole range of people based on nothing more than ugly prejudices.

The quote is from some person writing about Voltaire, but it was describing Voltaire's philosophy

Incidently no one said they should be silenced. We were disgusted by their views but you (Chrissetti) and Skeptical seem to think someone claimed they were not entitled to hold their views.

Sorry, i should have phrased that belief better, i think their belief is sick, not the people themselves, I'm reminded of that peep Show episode when Mark befriends the guy who turns out to be a Nazi. He was an alright guy apart from his racsist views

And yes, I think the beliefs themselves are sick. However, if say a Nazi turned up on my doorstep and some guy tod him he qas wrong to have such a view and that it wasn't allowed, I'd tell that guy off, then I'd try and convince the Nazi of the error he had made.
