Don't listen to him, Mrs. More. He is just biased against the game. Oblivion is better than the other games in the series in every way you can think of. D-Draw just doesn't like how it doesn't follow the same storyline, and because of this he is convinced that the game is no good at all.
But really, it is the best RPG ever created, hands down.
Lies. Sure, some of it is a personal grudge, but you honestly have no idea what you're talking about. If you were more deeply into it, you might understand. Great graphics, sure, and the game has plenty of personality, but let's be honest: there was so much they fucked up. The "Radiant AI" is a pathetic shell of what it's supposed to be, the physics are nonsensical and annoying, the construction set (keep in mind that the modding community is one of the biggest attractions to single-player RPGs--especially the Elder Scrolls series) is nearly unusable, and frankly, the story is rather boring--not to mention ridiculously cliche and overused--compared to the other games. Perhaps for casual gaming, it is good and plenty, but for a unique, immersive experience? I think not.

Your mod community statement is a biased, bullshit theory. I created a mod community around a game, I think I have the inside track on such things. Your bias is passionate, but misplaced.
You misunderstood. It's not that the modding community is nonexistent. It is unaccomodated.
Blind my ass. I am not the one who is searching for imaginary flaws in the game just to convince myself that it's bad, that I am right, and that everyone who disagrees with me is an idiot (which is exactly what you are doing). And yes, the opinions of professionals in the industry do count, much more than your opinion counts. They, unlike you, actually have a clue what they are talking about.
Professionals? These are men who sit on their asses telling other people what they should and shouldn't play. And anyways, it would be suicide to say that Oblivion is a bad game for a critic, because their job is not to give people information, it is to make them happy.
I, as an actual avid gamer who loves single-player games above almost any other type of game know NOTHING about what avid gamers who love single-player games like, though. Of course not. It would be FOOLISH to think so.
The flaws are not imaginary. The Radiant AI was a failure. I was watching the whole deal from the beginning, and they kept making "Radiant" AI less and less central, and then voila. Now, final product is the Fable fallacy--a bastardized form of what they were talking about at first. It's still OKAY, but the same thing's been done and far better.
Plus, it's cliche as fuck. Deer? Rabbits? Temperate forests? Worst. Cliches. Ever. Why not throw in Gandalf the Grey and Frodo Baggins while you're at it?
The physics are a pain in the ass. Admit it, they are. Try actually arranging shit. It doesn't work.
I could go on. Keep in mind that I'm not saying that it's a particularly BAD game, it's just not the best, and it's definitely not worthy of the Elder Scroll namesake. Comparitively, it sucks anus.
