Flowers for Algernon.  I hate how Charlie realizes he is deteriorating by watching Algernon.  It's so sad.

If I can count the Discworld series as one book then them, otherwise the Night's Dawn Trilogy by P.F. Hamilton

To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee because it's so powerful, is entertaining and simply written.
Gone With The Wind - Margaret Mitchell More or less the same reasons, but it's got some romance in as well.
Green City In The Sun - Barbara Wood it's imaginative, and I love Kenya, and the book is rich with so many sub-plots...it's fabby. As is Virgins of Paradise by the same author, but set in Egypt.
Tales of the Otori Trilogy - Lean Hearn imaginative, different, romance, action, adventure, mystery, fantasy...
Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen she's so funny and observant...I love Austen's dry narrative and sense of humour.

I love reading in general, but those and a few others are the most read of my collection.

i don't think i could actually choose! I like everything ... almost! Atm i am reading The Picture of Dorian Gray.

As for the most read in my collection that would have to be (authors, not books) Nicholas Evans and Amelie Nothomb... and the Narnia series!

Props to those who mentioned Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. My favorite books would have to be The Lord of the Rings, and Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card.

Lysander Spooner, No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority

The greatest book ever written in the english language. I absolutely love it because there is a brillant insight about every two pages. Spooner deconstructs the "United States" and government with the rigor of a lawyer, an eloquent command of the english language, and a clear mind. It never fails to astonish me, as do all of Spooner's writings, and has opened my eyes to a lot of things about political legitimacy.

Mary Ruwart, Healing our World in an Age of Aggression
L. Neil Smith, The Probability Broach

Almost all the authors I chose are "Americans," including, obviously, Spooner, so I don't really see your point. Just because I really like one of Dawkins' books doesn't really indicate anything against me- plenty of people admire him.

Based on what I've read here, you like to expose the negative side of America.  Since you are not a native and thus it is not really your business, the only motivation for this that I can see is that you know that at our core we are fundamentally better than you, and thus you seek out as much evidence as you can to discredit us.

Well, I can't really expose or attack what doesn't really exist, now can I?

The fact that I talk about "America" most is because most of the people I talk to, and write for, are supposedly from there. That's all.

As an Anarchist, I reject all governments equally. But like atheists mostly talk about Christianity, I talk about what I know the most. It's just a consequence of not having a hundred years available to study all governments on Earth and why they are bollocks.

And no, I do not think I am superior to anyone. Just better informed. Anyone can figure this stuff out if they'll think for a week or two.

True enough, but that doesn't explain the massive numbers of Americans who also don't like America.

Oh, and I like books that touch on religion but present it in a modern context.  Left Behind series being a prime example.

As much as I like the flattery, this thread is not actually about me, so I'd recommend you put any such discussions on another thread so I can answer it properly. In fact, this whole diversion should be put on another thread. It's rather unsightly.

Try reading his commanding officers book "Eye of the Storm" which was when he was writing "Bravo Two Zero", the commnading officer has a much different view on what Andy McNab (which isnt his real name) did.....

I am an award winning aurthor and this is my biography yall should go and buy it at yall's local book store White Power!!!!!  My personal favorite is Nigger Book First off I have written 6 books they publish 4: I smell nigger, nigger book, niggers stank, and I hate niggers.  I have niggers cause they stank. WHITE POWER!!  Niggers make me sick.  Lets talk about Martin Luther King JR. he was not all that great he had more affairs than Bill Clinton what a typical nigger.  I hate them all they think they are the best dancers, crack smokin swinderlers, breath all the white mans air, eat up all the chicken, and they stank.
