Why believe that something was a miracle. if someone survives an illness that was 1 million to one against would you call it a miracle? it isn't a miracle it is just statistics. if the odds are 1 to a million some people would still beat them. otherwise it would be a certain thing not just unlikely event.

To quote the movie Bruce Almighty:

"Parting a soup is not a miracle, Bruce.
It?s a magic trick. A single mom, who?s working two jobs,
and still finds time to take her son to practice,
that?s a miracle. A teenager who says no to drugs
and yes to an education, that?s a miracle."

My point is even the simplest things are miracles. While parting soup (which is obviously a reference to Moses parting the Red Sea) is not a miracle is it IS a symbol of God's power.

It's called a metaphor.

But then you are simply taking perfectly normal occurrences and claiming they have supernatural causes.

You are simply ignorant. Anyone with half a brain knows that all those things you claim are miracles were caused by magic fairy dust.

I'm the ignorant one? I beg to differ.

How can this metaphor be applied to real life?

Are you living in the real world or your own little one cause metaphors are applied to life everyday.

By definition, a mom taking their kid to soccer practice is not miraculous.  I think that the author of the movie was saying that taking a kid to practice is something that matters.  Parting soup is not.  In short, no, saying no to drugs is in fact not a miracle by any means.

It's getting to be in this day and age  ::)

Saying no to prescription drugs it probably a miracle but I doubt our little rocker here means that.

You need to read the book 'The God Delusion'. That is all really.  ;)
