the best and worst argument for converting to religion

true stroy, a friend of a friend of mine (who are no longer friends) told a friend that in order for them to be friends, he would have to accept jesus into his heart and go to church every sunday and stop casual drinking or she would go to hell. tis the worst argument because it just shows how much of a bigot everyone in her church is, and the best becuase i can't help but laugh every time i think about it.

Oh I don't know, I don't believe in any religions but going to church has never bothered me, I actually admire the priest in my neighborhood church, hes a pretty chill guy. In my neighborhood at least the church is probably doing more good than harm in any case. Though if I had to do this regularly I would want something more in return than just friendship (I wouldn't consider that person much of a friend if they demanded something like that of me.) Money for instance would work for me, or if a girl asked and I was really after her.

This reminds me of that part in "There Will be Blood" where Day-Lewis must join that church in order to use a churchgoers land to build a pipeline. (Yes I realize that movie is months old, but I just watched it this week)

The folly of mistaking a paradox for a discovery, a metaphor for a proof, a torrent of verbiage for a spring of capital truths, and oneself for an oracle, is inborn in us. -Some Frenchy

Amazing movie, Daniel Day is the ultimate actor for those epic roles. I loved his vengeance at the end, sweet and glorious.

I witnessed a parody of it on either SNL or MADtv; I hadn't seen the movie so I couldn't fully appreciate what I assume was biting satire. :(

Maybe your friend's friend was too busy changing gender mid-sentence to come up with a better argument.

He wasn't acting in TWBB. They wrote the whole movie around him. That's why his "character" is named Daniel. True story.

Apocalypse of the Six Faced Gods

When the heavens fall upon the earth
Man’s leaders will mutter
Man’s leaders will splutter
For the rain reign of embers
The gods did cause

Man’s wisdom had faded
His eye degraded
For the land was sided six
Earth, fire, water a mix

Man ranted, shouted, bickered and whined
The land was round the land was mine
But the gods saw the truth
And called upon man’s youth

But were fools, arrogant and childish
Believing the world to be dish
Gods burn them one and all
When the embers fall

So the gods descended
Maimed burned and rended
Rocks of flame fell from the sky
So that mans folly would die

But one child did stand alone
Discard his mobile phone
He would be no longer deceive
He was the first one the believe

The gods spared him and his brothers
And their wives, now mothers
Who would teach the cube to every cradle
And to every sane man able

Seek the truth and be spared
For apocalypse be prepared
The cube is truth the cube is true

See through the chaos and deception, seek the clarity of the cube.
