When you are in a harbor and you see a boat departing, keep looking at it.  In fact, take the world's most accurate telescope, and, after it has disappeared over the horizon, see if you will be able to see it.  You won't because the Earth's curvature has caused the boat to "disappear."

Next, what about the people who died aboard Challenger and Columbia? I really, honestly, do not believe they would be killed...what exactly would NASA have to gain by killing them?

Lastly, go to a space shuttle launch.  I've been to one, and have seen the space shuttle keep going...and going...and going...until it's out of sight, probably in orbit.  If the shuttle did not reach orbit, it would fall uncontrollably to the Earth and burn up on reentry.  And, from the little I am aware about space shuttles, I know that they land and most of the time the people who were in them come back out alive.  How do you explain that?

...and I just finished reading that thread about the whole horizon thing...Bishop's alter ego just CAN'T BE SERIOUS

and Mr. Bishop, go on a day when there are absolutely no waves.  the same thing will happen: the boat will disappear

....who is Tom Bishop anyway? the new Engineer? God, let's hope not...

Which day of the year do you totally ignore the fact that I debunked this explanation three or four separate times?

Ok...I'm going to let the horizon argument go, even though I am not nearly convinced or satisfied by Bishop's explanation.

Next...Columbia and Challenger disasters.  Please explain the reason they were killed.  It doesn't reinforce the conspiracy one bit.

Also, explain how when you go to a shuttle launch, the shuttle keeps going until it is out of sight.  It must be in orbit or else the shuttle would fall to the ground and burn up....or is the whole 'atmosphere concept' part of the conspiracy, as well?

No you did not. At the solid line of the horizon there are hundreds of waves. If there are waves in front of a ship as it recedes and shrinks the waves will "get in the way" and gradually obscure the hull from the bottom up.

What's so hard to understand about that?

Those may have been real accidents. Obviously NASA is sending something up. High altitude powered gliders can still crash.

However: The more astronauts who die, the more NASA can justify a heftier budget for "safety research" and "future tech."

Bishop, give it a break....you're explanations are so f ing weak! Come on, a high altitude glider? It's a SPACE SHUTTLE with three parts: the orbiter, the two SRB's, and the ET.  They all contain very powerful propellants, enough to send them into orbit.  The glider crap is really weak.

Next, I assume that the whole government is in on the conspiracy.  Hence, why would they give NASA more money if they're all in on the conspiracy? NASA has done its job by faking the photos, and they wouldn't try to "fool" the government by killing astronauts so that they can get more money, because I assume the government is in on the whole thing and knows exactly what NASA is doing...according to your reasoning, only NASA knows about the conspiracy.  I say that you people start looking for some other explanations...

Why would the majority of the government need to be in on the Conspiracy? Splitting the pot would mean less profit. NASA puts on its firework liftoff shows expressly for the politicians who sign the checks.

I suppose the waves also obscure the mountains on other buildings on the other side of the world, which we would be able to see on a flat earth. I don't know... but I think that the some of them would have to get pretty hight to block the buildings and other things that are bigger than a boat.

....how so? They're a major part of the government.  Besides, I though NASA was formed by the government, and, in particular, Congress.  And, according to you, much money was given to NASA to develop software for the fake videos and photos...the money of Congress.  So how would Congress not be part of the conspiracy?

I would think Congress would know about the conspiracy.

The conspiracy invented Congress just to add to the confusion of the masses.

If all of congress believes the Earth is round and NASA is investing their money in space travel, they're just going to keep sending money, aren't they?

The conspiracy invented Congress just to add to the confusion of the masses.

...so the conspiracy existed in the 1700's? Give me a break.  so, according to you, this is the timeline:

Romans and Catholics believed in Earth being flat.  They were the good guys.

Greeks believed Earth was round giving very good evidence.  They were the bad guys who spread the conspiracy.

Later, the round earth theory has become the most widely accepted theory.  The Greeks were very good at spreading propaganda, apparently, and it has reached today's government by word of mouth.

So...we pay our taxes, our tax money (along with Congress's billions) go to NASA, and NASA literally burns the money by staging fake launches and faking photos...Your undeniable correct logic just hit me like a ton of bricks.

The conspiracy theory morphs quite a bit because it's difficult to really get a clear picture, being a conspiracy and all.  There may be some clues hidden in these very archives of the FES as I suspect at least one forum member is part of the conspiracy.  I'm currently trying to discover these clues by using the science of numerology and Kabbalah Maasit to sift through all the FES threads.

I've seen three shuttle launches and none of them did anything to prove the shape of the earth.  Now, why would a shuttle that did not get into orbit fall uncontrollably and burn up on reentry?

Oh, come on!

I hate arguing for the FEers, but come on.  NASA has billions in its budget.  I think it's conceivable that they'd be able to fake some photos and videos, pay a few people off, and still make a tidy profit.

Conceivable.  Not likely, but certainly conceivable.
