The Ice Wall...

Now, I'm only familiar with the basics of this whole flat earth idea, so forgive me if this blatantly obvious somewhere and I'm just not seeing it.  Now, onto the actual question:  One of the main theories I've seen on this board is that of the Ice Wall and the Ice Wall guards.  If these Ice Wall guards brainwash everyone that comes to the Wall, how does anyone actually know that this Wall exists and how does anyone know about the guards?  If this is answered in the FAQ, please tell me where.

We know the Ice Wall exists because no one has been beyond our region of the Infinite Plane. Therefore there must be a barrier keeping us from doing so. Since the Wall is in an icy region, it is most likely to be made of ice. Ergo we call it an Ice Wall.
