If the earth was flat...
« on: February 19, 2007, 12:53:21 PM »
would brazil be the same temperture as the north pole?, due to sunrays and heat from the rays hitting it at the same angle covering the same area per ray?

At the moment they arent the same tempertures, so i doubt the sunrays are bending to duck the 2 poles as light cannot bend without mirrors, i havent seen 2 big mirrors in the sky recently.
f the earth was falt, why havent planes and ships fallen off?

Light can be bent by gravity. This is why I believe the Earth appears to have a curvature when viewing objects "sinking below the horizon". So the "light cannot be bent" thing just died.

And if you turn on a flashlight, you will see that there are varying degrees of brightness when you shine it at a wall, the light fades as it widens out towards the edges. Spotlights do the same thing and the FE model has a "spotlight" sun.

No it cant

Dont lie, light does not band, it travels in straight lines. Light bends on the horizon because the earth bends, therefore you see a bend in the 'land' meeting the sky.

Yes, light can be bent.

OMG - THE EARTHS ROUND, GET THAT INTO YOUR DUMB SKULLS YOU NONE EDUCATED, NO QUALIFACATION RETARDS.

Im now working on a thread that allows for education resources to be linked to easily. This will prove that any educated people will know the earth is round. Others who think otherwise are either dumb or believing in things not proven by fact.

Ever looked in a mirror?

How do you think the photons reach your eyes?

They bounce off stuff.

Christ, that's elementary!

It is a proven fact that light is effected by gravity.

We can see this by the way stars close to the sun react differently then stars not close to any major gravitational field.

The light, as mentioned, can bend.  But it only does so to such a degree, as needed to prove the FE theory, when a black hole is pulling the light in.  Otherwise, light does little bending.  So, the question remains, why are Brazil and the Northlands different temps?

Guys, read the FAQ that will not answer your question.

FAQ doesn't explain why a spotlight shining on a disk would have a radiation pattern on Earth which is the pattern you get from irradiating a sphere.

I have been searching through posts seeking the words "black hole" "singularity" and "event horizon".

The reasons for that, although seemingly obvious, stir the pot. Period.
My problem with his ideas is that it is a ridiculous thing.

Well I think that Acceleration would have a much greater effect on the light then Gravity.

Light is currently not believed to be bent by gravity as photons have no mass and therefore no weight which is required for a object to experience gravity

Light, however,  can be defracted and reflected. Light is diffracted as it moves from a medium into a denser one e.g. air into water/glass.
(This is the reason that a spoon appears to bend at the surface in a glass of water).

But it experiences gravitation due to acceleration.
