Earthquakes and Eclipses
« on: February 12, 2017, 07:55:11 AM »
Hi,

I've done some research into the Flat Earth and have found the idea interesting as a mental exercise, but I find many holes in the theory. Namely two specific aspects- earthquakes, eclipses. How does the FE Theory deal with continental drift and events such as volcanoes, mountains, and earthquakes? How does the FE address the question of the cause of both Lunar and Solar eclipses? I have come across various models of the Flat Earth, but they do not deal with these matters.

Well, volcanoes & earthquakes did not bother me much when think of earth as a flat plane, not as much as solar & lunar eclipses, until I ran over this video on YouTube, a guy talking about The Book of Enoch - THE BOOK OF THE COURSES OF THE HEAVENLY LUMINARIES.
A book which was written more than 3000 years ago, explains in an undoubtable details about the course of the Sun & the Moon over the flat earth, and the guy in the video explains it a very understandable way.

Seems rather evasive to me- please do enlighten me as to how thinking of the Earth as a plane avoids any thought or discussion as to volcanoes, earthquakes etc.

Thank you very much for the video, it gave me a fair bit to think about, namely the nature of the body that prevents sunlight from reaching the moon

Well, they sure bother those affected by them! Knowing a lot more of their cause might help in predicting them, but flat Earthers don't believe in science!

3000 Year Old Text, Most Accurate Description Of Earth Ever! How? Flat Earth

In "undoubtable details"! Really, then please explain how at every equinox, everywhere on earth1 the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. It might explain how things appear in a small region in the middle east, maybe around Babylon, but certainly not for the whole globe.

And from what I could see it does not fit at all with how the sun and moon behave under any current flat earth hypotheses.

Do you find anything in that video that accords with what you observe?

[1]  Except for regions close to each pole, where the sun does not set for a few days around the equinoxes.

I have, after extensive research discovered a foolproof way of locating the elusive "shadow object" of lunar eclipse fame.   Look up at the night sky on a moonless night,  look for a region of darkness where you don't see any stars.   That's it,  you've found the elusive shadow object,   I can't believe it hasn't ever been discovered before now.

Simples.

[/quote]What I meant was; volcanoes & earthquakes are not directly related to Earth spinning or stillness, but rather to the movement of plates.
If earth is really flat, there are still a lot of information we are not aware of on what causes the plates to move.
