No, i am comparing belief structures.
No, the scientist in 18th century did. (forgive me for forgetting his name)
How can it be fundamental since the belief in flat earth was believed before religion itself?
Can you see the discrepancy between the second and third answer?
In the 2nd you said Flat Earth theory has been around only from the 18th century, in the 3rd you state that the belief has been around before religion itself.
The scientist you're talking about is Rowbotham. He proved that the Earth isn't round and that it is Flat. The cosmology he set out is different to the cosmology set out in the FAQ - if you'd bother to read either you'd know this.
All in all, none of that matters. The real question lies in the answer to your first question: "I am comparing belief structures."
To what end? In other words, why are you comparing belief structures? Are you hoping to point out that because the Catholic church dropped its stance on geocentrism (not flat earth/round earth) we should drop our belief in a Flat Earth? Or are you merely saying that we should be like you and have the same beliefs in the shape of the Earth as the Catholic Church?
What do you hope to achieve by comparing belief structures???I have news for you:
The Catholic Church's belief was grounded in scripture.
Our belief is grounded in obvservations.
