People believe the Earth is round because they have not been exposed to FET. They are compelled to read RET literature and be tested on ONLY that to pass exams in school.
This is illogical. It's like saying people shouldn't accept evolutionary theory unless they've read the Bible. Which would be nonsense. Additionally, there is no such thing as "round-earth" literature. The entire premise of scientific teaching is based on the empirical evidence for a spherical planet, based on centuries of geophysical research, human observations, data-logging, astrophotography and space exploration. And students are not "compelled" to read scientific literature solely to pass school exams—that's a ludicrous claim. Students are required to study in order to be educated; nothing more, nothing less.
Before logically determining Earth shape they must have an understanding of FET or their input is not valid.
There is
no universally accredited flat-earth "theory" for science students to study. Even the FEs cannot agree on a common model acceptable to all. As a flat earth model defies all our known laws of physics, it'd be almost impossible to impart even an
idea of what the flat earth theory is all about to students.
Those percentages will change dramatically once FET is brought back into the educational system.
You're implying that FET will be "brought back" into the education system. In 200+ years of education in Australia (at least) it's
never been
in the education system. And FET will never be introduced into our education system any more than religion will be. They're both dead and buried in a secular country such as Australia.
In addition, if a FE representation would replace the now popular "globe" in stores and classrooms it would also contribute to the inevitable disappearance of RE beliefs.
The concept of a round earth model is in no way simply a "belief". It's a universally accepted scientific tenet accepted completely across the entire planet. There's also not one single state-accredited school teaching flat earth theory across the planet. Your vain hope that the round earth model will ever be supplanted by a flat earth model is truly wishful thinking on a grand scale.
