Don Homuth of west salem is donating his rare map to the library of congress.
The “flat World”map, created in the 19th century by zealot Orlando Ferguson, was given to him 40 years ago by his former high school math teacher in Fargo.
Don Homuth was the only person with a copy of this map which depicts the earth as flat. When he Knew that the pioneer historical museum in South Dakota had a second copy of this map named “squareand stationary earth” he decided to donate his second copy to the Library of congress. This map contains the idea of most of the people that earth is flat.
There are very few maps in existence that supports the theory that the earth is flat.
Specialist at the library of congress thought that it would be a unique addition to their collection.
Ad Hagle , who worked for almost 40 years at the library of congress, mainly for the National Library Service for the blind and for the physically handicapped persons, died on may25 at his home in Alexandria.

Robort Morris the spokesman of library of congress said that the officials checked more than 75 maps. Before confirming the design was one of a kind he says that the other known copy of the map is available in the Pioneer of Museum in Hot Springs.
Finally Don Homuth said that it’s history and it belongs to the nation.
