Comets...
« on: July 17, 2006, 10:40:24 PM »
Specifically Haley's Comet. What's the FE explanation?

I asked this when I first got here, and the only answer I got was someone speculating that maybe it was a very strong spotlight cast on the dome... which confuses me for a few reasons.

1) I haven't heard others mention this dome before or since.
2) If the dome reflects light, then wouldn't that make it difficult for the conspirators to cast a hologram on the moon spotlight?
3) Haley's Comet has been recorded since before the invention of the light bulb.
4) Through a telescope, you can very clearly see all the details of the comet.

Also, how do you explain the proven link between the moon and volcanic activity?

Probably something to do with balls of dust and ice floating in space.

Well that is the general consensus, however I believe he wishes to know how it reappears so concisely. Obviously this object would have to accelerate the same as the Earth does in order to keep up. But I suppose the rest of the Universe would also have to be doing the same thing.

According to RE it orbits the sun once every 75 years. Are you going to tell me it's a little light that goes out and comes back once every 75 years to make a trip around a 35 km diameter spotlight?

All we can tell is that is that it does follow this cycle, not why it follows it.  "Why" involves speculation and assumptions.

Which is what I asked for... among other things.

You want speculation and assumptions?

While that is really the provence of the REers on this board, I will make an attempt.  There is a rigid dome, or several domes, made of crystalline aether surrounding the Earth.  The otherwise perfect crystalline structure is ocassinally marked by impurities of various concentrations.  The impurities marr the crystal structure of the aether which prevents the crystal from being perfectly stable, and as it decays or erodes or otherwise settles into its lowest energy state it emits radiation on wide and varying spectra.  The largest of these impurities are the sun and moon.  Smaller ones include the other planets and comets.  The tiniest -- but by far the most numerous -- are the fixed stars.

It may be that the impurities involve oxygen in their formation, which would explain why the the impurities closer to the Earth (sun, moon, planets) are by far the largest and brightest.

Whoa... that was fun.

are these testable hypotheses?
i wait for the day when a flat-earth rocket is launched to investigate this.

Of course they are testable.  You just... go and look.

so when i look through a telescope, and see mars rotating slowly over several hours, and come back the next day to see the same features rotating with it - how is this an impurity on a crystal dome?

or is my telescope engineered by the Conspiracy™ ?

Since you've been following along, you already know that I was asked, against my better judgement, to speculate.  Are you asking me to continue doing so?

if it is all still "speculation", then this is all clearly an under-developed and incomplete theory.

heliocentricity and spherical planets explains the movements of the planets and even allows us to send stuff there.
(oh no, that's the Conspiracy isn't it, even though i know numerous people in the field and that it is going to be my job in a few years)
that sounds the better explanation.
