How do you explain google earth?

Google earth for those of you who don't know is a 3D map of the earth and it's made by satellites that have taken pictures of the earths entire surface. So, if earth is flat and satellites don't exist, how did they get those pictures? It's pretty crazy, if you get a chance look at it, you can get right up to your house and anywhere else in the world.

The actually used planes for most of the pictures, but satellites were used for some.

However, Google Earth is nothing but a bunch of 2D pictures stitched up to look 3D so it's hard to say that it's only possible in RE.

Google uses several sources for their imagery and are credited on screen at the various altitudes as different images are displayed.
