If we follow the gravity theory of the earth going upwards, would we not collide with stars eventually?

I'm not sure if the universe is expanding in FET. 

I warn you not to be so keen to dispute dark energy for the gaping hole that it is, because in reality, the universe is expanding at a non-uniform rate, and this acceleration is put down to dark energy, which can't be properly explained.  So don't make a fool of yourself like I did by disputing the dark energy idea for all it's worth  ;)

Or Einstein's first guess may have been right, and the cosmological constant existed... Really, this is becoming quite the scientific forum, as I'd guess most people on here have a good deal more knowledge than most people.

Dark energy is theorised by theoretical physics.  This completely goes against the "I have to see it" philosophy of FEers.

I think it's a safe bet that most people who spend any time here have a deeper understanding of physics and astronomy when they leave (if they ever do).  It's actually one of the reasons why I commend this site, whatever its initial motivation might have been.

How would I know?  Obviously there's been enough space for the Earth to accelerate through so far, and hopefully for at least a long while in the future.

I have nothing against the idea. Question is, when? Better get the binoculars out, see if we can see it yet.

Maybe this could be an "end of the FE" theory, the idea that eventually the earth and universe will hit the cosmic ceiling.

I wanna know how the stars are moving in a helix.  Unless dark energy got bored and decided to make things more interesting
