I've been lurking these forums for quite some time now. I'm a firm believer in the RE, but I'm fascinated by the FE theory and some of purported the "evidence" in support of it, however void of math and logic some of it may be.
That said, I understand the FE explanation for the sun disappearing from view during sunrise/sunset is perspective and atmospheric refraction. For the sake of argument, let's focus on sunsets.
Why can no one bring the sun back into view with high strength optics after it sets over the horizon? Similar to the FE ship argument that you can bring a ship back into view after it's been lost by "perspective", should one not be able to do the same with the sun?
I mean, as soon as my eyes lose the sun, I should, according to FE, be able to throw on a pair of binoculars and get the sun back into view. Why does this not reflect realty?
