Star constellations
« on: November 04, 2009, 06:45:55 PM »
Sorry if this has been asked before, but how come one can look in the sky in august, and see a certain constellation, whereas in January, one either can't see it or is in a different spot in relation to one's position. I mean, are the stars rapidly revolving around the earth, or what? If so, by what force?

I asked a similar question a day or so ago.

Here is the link to my thread: http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=33996.msg834088#msg834088

Unknown. There used to be a theory of "celestial gears", but now that seems to have been abandoned in favour of all the stars orbiting the north pole.

*sigh*  The celestial gears are to explain the motion of the stars in the southern hemiplane.

I know. In fact it's (or was) used to explain the movement of all stars.

But in Tom's wiki/tiki he states that all the stars move about the north pole axis.

Moved to DQ&C.

According to the celestial gears hypothesis, there is one gear that covers the norther hemiplane that moves one way while there are multiple gears that cover southern hemiplane and spin in the opposite direction.
