A radical idea
« on: August 20, 2008, 05:30:15 PM »
Frankly I'm stunned that there are RE'ers here with 1000+ posts. But I'm glad for it.

It also seems to me that there are civilized RE'ers here. Those who know when other RE'ers are getting their math wrong and when FE'ers are getting their math right.

I imagine the MODERATORs of this forum are all FE'ers. And that it's only those FE'ers who can make posts sticky, create new discussion boards and all that.

So would these FE Moderators be open to letting a civilized long-term REer be a moderator? Would the FE'ers be interested in giving an RE'er such authority over this site? And on the flip side, would any RE'er step up for it? I personally am not interested. But... I would love to see a "Round Earth Believer" forum, and I'd love to see something like "A RE'er's guide to talking to FE'ers" posting made sticky somewhere. And, of course I'd really love to see a "FUQ" ("Frequently Unanswered Questions") and to be fair, this can be on both sides. I'm getting tired of someone answering a question and someone else missing that answer, claiming it's been unanswered for months and because of the perceived silence "declare victory".

Well... moderators that be? Thoughts?

TheEngineer is a RE'er.  And we already have a Round Earth Believers' section.  It's called Angry Ranting.

Yes possibly. I could see a sticky of Round Earth Beliefs.  We could put the compass/gravity theory in there.

One reason...
To educate the stupid RE'ers who wander in not completely understanding their high school physics and post stupid stuff.

The site already does that, and does it very well.

Sorry to threadjack but these three statement practically leapt off my screen at me.   ;D

I do agree an RE mod would be nice, but to be fair I haven't seen any FE mods editing posts or deleting threads they don't agree with.  The worst thing I've seen is TheEngineer get into a shouting match in the middle of a thread in a most OT manner.

Quite frankly, anyone stupid enough to take this place seriously deserves to be trolled by Tom and the other official "FEers". Let them waste their time arguing with bots and posting about stuff they don't even understand.

A little better, but I'm still not clear as to your point.  TheEngineer has said he's a RE'er in the past.  He just argues for FE because he enjoys getting a rise out of newbies who take this site way too seriously.
