I don't suppose Engineer or Tom has ever flown in an high-altitude commercial airliner, at least not ones without high-tech perspective-altering visual-sensory-overriding windows anyway.

p.s. I'm new to this forum...Is this whole thing a long-running joke? I've to admit it's really amusing to read some of the most ignorant and illogical ideas I've ever come across.

the new guy does have a point, sometimes, this website is just funny. oh and a lot of the time, the height of the plabe is not the olny factor in seeing curvature. say you go to 20,00 feet approaching a mountain range. the mountains are going to abscure some of the view of the horizon, whereas is you are over the ocean, nothing can get in the way or cange the shape of the horizon becaue water will always be pulled towards the centre of the earth by gravity, unless of course, the ice wall cracks
i believe the world is an oblate spheroid. anything i say that contradicts this is purely for the sake of argument.
