Flat Earth General / Nature of the debate
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:59:33 AM »
I stumbled across this forum with a genuine interest in what people really believe. I assumed that the flat earth debate was really an exercise in how we logically deduce the reality of the universe. I didn't think people actually believed in a flat earth. Now I am not sure. So, are the flat earth advocates here just free-thinkers questioning the rationality of evidence-based science, or do they actually believe in flat earth?

Flat Earth Debate / Have I missed anything?
« on: March 02, 2015, 02:15:03 PM »
New to the forum, and to FE theory. I've had a good read around, and it seems that for FE t work all I have to do is believe the following:

1. The sun and moon are the same size, and you can only see them when they are directly overhead. Sunsets and sunrises don't exist.

2. There is no such thing as gravity.

3.  There is stuff called aether and the disc is perpetually accelerating "upwards".

4. Lunar eclipses are tricky - must be an invisible moon which somehow casts a shadow.

5. The mountain, no planet, of evidence in favour of a spherical earth is just part of a wider conspiracy involving governments, NASA, scientists and air traffic control.

All seems to make perfect sense, I must have missed something surely?
