Coriolis force is something that 15 year olds learn in geography.  It's really not hard to understand.  As for observation?  Look at the water draining down your sink.  It spirals.  If the North Pole is the centre of the earth, why does the coriolis force reverse at the equator?

It's a myth that the coriolis effect is that detectible, the water drains out in different directions depending on how the sink is made or on the placement of microscopic cracks and the such.

You sir, are a fool.  Drill a large round hole in the bottom of the bucket.  Drain water through it.  In the Northern Hemisphere, it spins one way.  In the Southern, it spins the other.  On the equator it doesn't.  Do this experiment on one side of the equator, step onto the other, AND THE WATER STARTS TO SPIN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!

in wich direction does the water spin on the northern hemisphere?

It would have so much gravity that it would pull everything towards it and eventually collapse in on itself and create a black hole, methinks.

Certainly, it would have some pretty strong gravity.  But where would its centre of mass be?

I claim that you always get pulled straight down towards such an object; in that sense, the centre of gravity is directly below you.  For every direction D in which gravity is pulling you, gravity is pulling you with equal force in a direction that is the reflection of D over a plane perpendicular to the infinite Earth and to the projection of D onto that Earth -- so the lateral components of D cancels with that of its partner.  The only direction which is not so "cancelled" is straight down.

I used a computer algebra system to determine the force of gravity on such an Earth.  The results were strange, but to simplify things, if the force of gravity is defined at all, it is equal to 2md/H, where m is the mass of the falling object, d is the density of the Earth, and H is the height of the falling object off the Earth.

Notice that this relationship is inverse linear, as opposed to inverse square on a round, finite Earth.  This -- like the constancy of gravity on the "zetetic" flat Earth -- is a testable prediction of the theory.

I've realized that you none of you will accept a proof taken from belief. Because of this, I suggest we start from the beginning and define the difference between science and belief. As far as I can see, the only difference is that science is the belief of someone called a scientist.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I agree with four fifths. Let's say the earth is a misinterpretation of something "real", then we have to agree about how different this something can be from the earth and still be called the earth. Also, if the earth is an illusion, it's a cube. Like a dice.

A point light source is a glowing speck.  No real light sources are point sources, but some things -- like stars and lasers and what-not -- come very close, so we approximate them as point sources.

Things that appear to have some size -- the sun takes up an area of your visual approximately one degree (or maybe a half, or two... can't remember) in diameter -- are obviously not point sources, because they don't look anything like points.  The sun looks like a big yellow dime.  Because of this, light from the sun comes from more than one direction.  It's one of the reasons shadows' boundaries are fuzzy.

Basically, the sun *cannot* be a point light source.

Scientist say we are spinning about 1,038Mph at the equator. This would mean that we are spinning faster than the speed of sound.

If we are spinning this fast, then how are we able to hear anything? The sound would always be behind us. So no way this is true that the earth is spinning this fast. It's all a lie, we really are just sitting on a flat disc and not really spinning or going anywhere.....

Ahh crap,  I forgot everything is relative, we are going in so many directions I get fricken confused..  Lets see I'm spinning 1 rev day or 1038mph, going around the sun every 365 days or at 67,000mph , Solar system we live in is moving at 446,400mph and finally the Galaxy is moving at 1,332,000mph that is a total of 1,846,438mph we are moving at. We are moving in so many directions I'm starting to get veritgo, ohh crap I'm having problems standing, no I don't think it is the speed and direction we are going that is making me sick, it is the bad booze I have been drinking.

Using God to explain one part of FE theory just invalidates it, we're trying to make an FE theory that works under known scientific laws, simply saying "God did it" removes what little credability it has.

You mentioned in a previous argument that the pictures from space were a government conspiracy, but you cant answer why on earth, all the governments with the power to send satelites and telescopes up into space would want to cover this up. Its not good enough to say 'governments dont make sense' i want factual answers not fague excuses.

but first i would like to agree with whoever said that its good that the Paramiod_Android is gone. I mean what a non-believer. Am i right or am i right?!  so all this waves debate. I mean, excuse me for being so obviously slow but how would all this debate change someones already steadfast views on the shape of the earth and waves etc.
I mean take you, cheesejoff for example, your a regular flat-earther and in dure a simple scientific observation/discovery wouldn't change your opinions. I mean, come one!!

Actually I find it quite depressing.  Before finding this site, I thought humans were quite intelligent beings.  I see we still have some weeds to pull.

Thanks for the kind words!  This site had a rough start, but it's turned into a really nice little (but growing) community.  Even though Flat Earth believers are in the minority on here (that's ok, we're used to it!), most people are quite civil to each other and I see a lot of interesting discussions that I wouldn't likely see elsewhere.

you're not a minority because you're a FE. you're a minority because you're brain accept what you're eyes tell you (What I mean here is that just about anyone could see that the earth is flat, but not many accept it)

And you can't prove that 2+2=4. Sure, you could place two stones together two times and then you would have four of them. But then you would have to convince me you didn't, for example, eat one of them, or added a fifth stone without me noticing

More likely, you're just pretending like most people I've seen argue for a flat earth.  Of course a round earth is common sense, we can discuss a large variety of topics that are easily explained by a round earth, and only explained by ad hoc explanations which usually disregard entire branches of science if you're arguing for a flat earth.  It's pretty obvious which side isn't thinking clearly.  Time zones, the horizon, seasons, eclipses, space flight, global travel, satellites, communications, the night sky, take your pick.  My explanations will be simple, in agreement with mainstream science, involve no mega-conspiracies, and often be verifiable by just about anyone.  Yours...won't be.

All your explanations can easily be thrown with the words "I don't believe you". I would love to give you several reasons not to believe you, but I think I'm not experienced enough in the english language to express my thoughts

So, how does one "magnet" grow stronger than the others periodically?

Er, the strong one gets tired, and another one takes over?  Like bike racing, or bird migration?

Or, it could be the magnetic material is part of a more fluid portion of the Earth.  RE theory proposes that the mantle can flow, and also supports the notion of continental drift.  Magnetic drift could work in a similar fashion: there's a layer of magnetic material underground that shifts around very slowly.

Hm... I like the bird migration analogy better
