Basically, a slightly more intelligent Sokarul.

I was about to say almost exactly that, though I would have said "more boring" rather than "more intelligent."
No need to get snippy, not my fault you dont even understand the model you support.

I wanted to add new math problem to get this going again

what is 2 plus 2 divided by 2?

3.

If 0<x<2pi, find the sum of all the solutions to the equation 2cos2(x) - 7cos(x) - 4 = 0
off the top of my head... Zero

Here is maybe my favorite

Derive the integration by parts formula

I think the unspoken rule here is to post problems you can solve yourself.
Oh I can solve it. It is a problem that I had for one of my classes

Given the content of your previous posts and the nature of the problem, I'm calling BS and saying you stole this from a textbook or a class website.
Your powers of observation are outstanding, especially since i said that it came from one of my classes

Here is a good physics one dealing with Geodesics

Show that  UBUalpha;B=fUalpha
where f is a scalar function, parametrizes the same geodesic as:  UBUalpha;B=0

Good Luck

Flat Earth Debate / Re: GPS
« on: September 10, 2009, 07:51:02 PM »
However anyone that has the proper equipment can easily demonstrate that GPS signals are not stationary or ground based.
How?
*sigh*  The same way that any other radio signal source is located, with a directional antenna and a radio receiver with a signal strength meter that has been tuned to the appropriate frequency.
Could they not be bounced to produce the illusion that they are in a different location?
Actually, the signal would need to be bounced in such a manner as to simulate a moving source.  Actually, at least 24 moving sources (at least 4 sources in each of 6 orbital planes), each with a unique identifier embedded in the signal.  Again, this identifying information is publicly available.
Also, if you are bouncing the signal somebody somewhere would notice a signal where it shouldnt be

the letter p for both. Not a greek letter for one

Yes, the letter p is used to represent both quantities. I'm not sure what you're getting at here.
So p and Roh are the same thing now

Probably for the same reason that physicists use p to represent both momentum and pressure.

Would you care to explain what you think is wrong with that statement?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion
« on: September 07, 2009, 08:15:11 PM »
All I can see is the declination of Mars as observed from a particular point from the Earth each month at different times. It looks as if it gets higher and lower on the sky, just as predicted by the laws of perspective on a FE when something gets further and nearer to us.
Then go ahead and plot out the orbits as it pertains to the FE model. Remember, the model that Brahe was trying to show is essentially the same as the FE model

« on: September 07, 2009, 07:00:52 PM »
how did they measure the distance of a planet from the sun?
Kepler and Brahe didnt do it, one of the things that motivated Brahe to conduct his research was the fact that he could not use parallax to measure the distance to Mars

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion
« on: September 07, 2009, 06:04:29 PM »
yes, but what was the method they used?
The method used was careful observation of the planet mars over multiple years. Keplers boss a man named tycho was trying to prove that the earth was the center of the universe while kepler believed that the planets orbited around the sun in perfect circles, yet they both were proved wrong. I think that it is great example of going with what the datas gives you and not just seeing what you want to see.

The first page of search results is dominated by government or somehow related sources.
this response always makes me laugh no matter how many times I read it. Nevermind the fact that all results are published in peer reviewed journals which can be read and verified by anyone with the drive to do so. ANd there are non governments groups conducting the same experiments and getting the same results

You have a set of one hundred bricks.  At the edge of the cliff, you want to stack the bricks on top of each other so that they extend as far as possible over the edge of the cliff.  What is the maximum length such an a structure can extend over the cliff (in terms of brick lengths)?

Or maybe because we all understand what the forefathers were doing when they wrote the constitution, very close to what cbarnett said "not become a religious dictatorship and to allow non-christians to practice their faith"
I didn't see any mention of Christianity in there at all. Sorry, but I'll take the document itself over your special interpretation of the founding fathers' supposed intentions.

I'll say it again...its the double standard that gets me.
I've already shown that you're talking shit in that regard. Remember standing corrected?

1 case by the ACLU does not a trend make.
Also remember the ACLU is a totally BS organization. They will only take a case that will get them on the news. When we had our day without a Mexican a couple of years ago all a bunch of students walked out of class so they were suspended and the ACLU ran to help them, but when some students walked out of class to support the other side the were also suspended and the ACLU refused to help them

I travel outside of the country about 8 times a year, and I always love to get back home. Other Countries have some good qualities, but on the whole they do not begin to caompare to here. I think the biggest problem that people have with the US is that this country is set up so that people must be responsible for themselves. You work hard you move up in the world, you do not work hard then you get left behind.

I'm not sure if this post was directed at me, but if it was I just want to say that's not how it is for me at all. I think it's great for people to be responsible for themselves. In fact, if it were up to me I would change the country to make people even more responsible for themselves. I just don't think people should pledge allegiance to any country so early in life without being told that they have other options.
It was not directed at anyone in particular. But personally I have no problem with kids being made to say the pledge of allegiance. If anyhting it will hopefully make them want to learn the history of this country and why they should continue to make the pledge.

I think we can do better than wikistupidia dont you think?
I thought the language and format would be simple enough for you to understand - namely that it literally denies any religious value inherent in your country's establishment.

Why IN GOD WE TRUST on our money?
What does that have to do with what is in the constitution? Where are your priorities?

Why would a country that wants to put a "wall" between the government and church, put a religious statement on its currency?
We do not want to put a wall, we just want to make sure that the country does not become a religious dictatorship and to allow non-christians to practice thier faith

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Light Speed: Another red/blue-shift question.
« on: August 16, 2009, 10:47:57 PM »
If the earth accelerates at 9.8 m/s2, it would be going faster than light-speed now.

Wrong. Special relativity forbids it. You cannot accelerate passed the speed of light.

Yes, they do, 9.8 m/s every second.

They don't. Here is the equation:

w=(u+v)/(1+u*v/c^2) where u is the current velocity, v is the additional velocity due to acceleration, c is the speed of light, and w is the new velocity.

http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/physics/Relativity/SR/velocity.html

You perceive light to be going at the speed of light, but that does not exclude a spectrum shift.

If you were outside your FoR, I might agree with that.
Explain how this equation for acceleration holds to the FE theory:  ac=Ar(c/sqrt(c2-V2)) Where ac is proper acceleration and Ar is any relative acceleration

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: How does red-shift work?
« on: August 16, 2009, 10:28:30 PM »
Is redshifting an observed phenomena on the flat earth?

It is clearly observed from Earth, yes.

Are some stars not 3100 miles above sea level? - if so, which ones (a precise list please  :D)

Of course stars are not just limited to FET's idea of distance, the universe is a big place. You want a list of names of stars? The hell?

Well the FAQ answer clearly states that the stars are 3100 miles above seal level. It doesn't say some stars, it says the stars. Why should the stars not be limited to FET's idea of distance? For that matter what is FET's idea of distance?

So, to go back to my post of a few minutes ago

If red shifting is observed on the flat earth then the following FAQ answer cannot be true:

The stars are 3100 miles above sea level . . .

So FES, which is it; red shifting is observed on your flat earth or your FAQ answer is simply wrong?

Clearly the FAQ answer is wrong then and the stars are not 3100 miles above sea level.

Now if people are going to continually tell new visitors to read the FAQ where they will find wrong answers then the whole FES becomes a joke.

"Read the FAQ"

"But the answers are wrong!"

"Read the FAQ!"

As a Moderator do you have any responsibility to advise the FES on the fact that the FAQ answer is clearly wrong and that it makes them look foolish?
That is a big problem here, the FE theory is constantly changing depending on who is posting at the moment. I think that the Mods should all get together and decide the official stance of the FES so we can have a clear theory that does not change based on whatever idea a person comes up with at the time. And to keep the post on topic, I do not believe that FE'ers can give a clear answer on red-shift becuae basically to admit it they would need to accept the fact that there is different amounts of energy in different parts of the galaxy (which could be true, I guess) and they would also need to admit that cosmological distances are much greater than the FAQ states which throws a large chunk of the FE theory way out of whack

Flat Earth Debate / Re: GPS
« on: February 12, 2009, 04:56:04 PM »
I'll let you have your stealth balloons, then. I'm sure there would be some hypothetical way to patch up any problems I think of, so there's not much point in continuing. I just dislike the balloon idea as I see no way of faking the data using them, but the only response I get from that is they can't think of why it couldn't be faked.
The biggest reason on why GPS cannot be faked is because there is too big a chance of someone making a device of their own and pinging the transmitter and realizing that it did not take nearly as long as it should of to return to the unit

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Gravitational pull.
« on: February 12, 2009, 04:47:37 PM »
If gravity exists
As a force, it does not.  As a construct of one's mind, it does, but that is the only place it exists.
so we imagine different rates of acceleration?
Uh, sure.
The I imagine a zero acceleration of the FE. So what keeps me on the ground now?
