Flat Earth General / Re: ISS's social media butterfly

Sceptimatics posts sound like something someone who is oblivious to how it works would guess.

Speed has nothing to do with communication signals of that magnitude.

The galactic equator has nothing to do with us. We aren't on it. Its the plane upon which the disk of the galaxy sits.

you can see the line in the night sky.

That's the galactic core.

I don't even know what you are talking about when you reference an "equator"

You should read and study this chapter. Don't just glance over it, for it takes more brain power to understand it.

I can just look at the title of that site and tell it's utter bullsh*t.

How about you ditch your "sacred texts" and learn some damn science.
Noted. Contempt prior to investigation.
No need. It obviously supports the fet. So it's complete hogwash

Now, onto another topic. Other planets. They have sunlight, but they are very far away. Explain.

Alas, I cannot confirm nor deny this, as I have never been to any other planet.

Quote
But in the fet, the sun is a much smaller object that spins around a disk-like earth (Why is the earth shaped like a disk? Who knows, it doesn't make any sense) the sun surely couldn't provide light for planets millions of miles away, we would all be blind.

Yes, if they were millions of miles away. But they are not.

I give up. You people are lost on a whole 'nother level. For crying out loud, people, it's not the 1500's anymore.

5
And I still strongly believe that the sun is diving below the horizon due to Earth's rotation, and if the earth was flat and the sun was cycling above it, the sun would not move down below, would it? No.

Now, onto another topic. Other planets. They have sunlight, but they are very far away. Explain.

Of course. To the completely understandable and uncontroversial Round Earth belief, the sun (A enormous object in the middle of the solar system) provides light for all planets in the solar system. That makes sense, and if you observe, you can easily see that.

But in the fet, the sun is a much smaller object that spins around a disk-like earth (Why is the earth shaped like a disk? Who knows, it doesn't make any sense) the sun surely couldn't provide light for planets millions of miles away, we would all be blind.

Maybe because the chances of an apocalypse tomorrow is about 0.00000000001 percent

7
If the fet was true, it would move far off to the point where it's tiny. Not dip behind the earth

Sense. It makes none. So I guess the fet is false, huh?

As for the RET, and it makes perfect sense

8
The medium between the sun and moon is not the same as the medium between the sun and the earth.
If the Earth was flat you would be able to stand in an open plane at night and see the sun in the distance

Perhaps if terrestrial perspective were not a factor, our eyes could see infinity into the distance, refraction did not exist, and the atmosphere were perfectly transparent.
So even though the sun is bright enough to blind us and light up the ground to the point where we like to wear sunglass. It's not bright enough to see from, let's say 2000 miles away, and we can't see it, even though it shines on the moon very brightly

Yeah, right.....

If the fet is true . The sun wouldn't stay the same size and drop down the horizon and then pop up from the other side.

When their backs are against the wall. They call us trolls.

RE - 1
FET - 0

I don't understand how if the sun moved away like they describe, aircraft could be lit like you describe, as well as the moon. The light can't reach us but it reflects off the surface of the moon?
BOOM.

These guys are lost. It's sad that they don't realize it.

It's despicable that FE'ers fight for guesswork and speculation rather than controlled scientific experimentation.
Fixed it for you.

Now "explain" the same thing happening to a far away object on flat land.

No ocean swell there.

Or how about the curved shadow of the Earth on the moon? Or how about seeing the ISS with binoculars?

Or how about the countless photos of Earth from space that are in no way, shape, or form, edited?

Sir, picture the world as a globe (Reality) the put a ship on the horizon about...let's say...20 miiles off. If your were to increase your altitude, you would be able to see all of the ship. Think, man, think.

Now, if Earth were flat (Makes no logical sense) you would be able to see the entire ship, regardless of how low you are.
Same thing goes with distant mountains on land.

If the Earth were flat, you wouldn't even see a sharply defined horizon.  You would see the land or sea gradually smudge into the sky - like you do when it's foggy.  You certainly wouldn't see a clearly defined sun or moon sinking below or rising above it.

Here's a Zetetic experiment I can do.  On a clear day, I drive over to the white cliffs of Dover, look South East & see Calais.  I can see buildings, patchwork of fields, even the sun glinting off the occasional car windscreen 25 miles away.

But can I see the beach ?  No - because it's below the horizon.
Oh, and are you a RE'r? I I thought you were using that as evidence for the FET

I have a neighbor who is a doomsday believer. That's what made me look into it. He thinks that there is some secret army being trained that will try to take control once the world is destroyed.

He's giving away all of his stuff, building a trench underneath his house. I just hope he doesn't go insane and try to kill me or something on the 22nd. I feel very bad for his kids.

I didn't really think people took it that seriously until I found their website "december212012.com". Freaking joke, all of it. They're even selling gas masks and food supply for like $150 a tub.

It's a sketchy website, I didn't get anything bad from though.

I was wondering if you flat earth folks believe the world is going to end on Friday.

Do you guys think "Planet X" will smash into Earth?

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: ONE question SERIOUS Question
« on: September 25, 2012, 01:26:43 PM »

The flat earth ppl will say that you are just circumnavigate around the flat earth under the Ice Wall model.

You have to fly through the south pole and then back to north pole to proof them the earth is round. But if you did that, you will be part of the global government consipiracy trying to hide the fact that the earth is flat.
That really sums it up. If you DO prove the Earth is round. They'll just call you a government spy or some BS like that.

David Icke believes that the world is run by shape-shifting lizards and that George Bush, Geri Halliwell (the spice girl) and the Queen of England, amongst others are lizard people. He also has a bunch of other theories.

Have a read. You might prefer to troll them instead.

Its what they know, that should disturb you.  :o
You believe in what he says?

Daniel is not authorized to give the official position of the Flat Earth Society because he owns the domain.  He is authorized to give the official position of the Flat Earth Society because he is the president (A.K.A. supreme dictator for life) of the Flat Earth Society.
David Icke claims to be the son of God. Does that make him the son of God? Daniel can claim whatever he wants. Its meaningless.

That is one of the worst analogies ever made on this site.  And that's saying a lot.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number one claims to be the son of God.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number two claims to be President of the flat earth society.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number one sets up an internet forum.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number two sets up an internet forum.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number one is an eccentric out-going multi-millionaire, loved by an army of dedicated followers.
Deranged narcissistic crackpot number two is the one we got lumbered with.

Is the analogy still too complicated for you?
That site is creepy wtf is it about?

The other planets are millions of miles away, that's why they seem smaller.
That seems a little far fetched to me.
How do you explain why planets are only visible in the night sky at certain times of the year?

The sun is 3000 miles above earth. The stars and planets are 3100 miles above. They are all of about the same altitude above earth.
So you're saying other planets are smaller than Earth?
My God yes. They are tiny. Haven't you ever seen them? Just tiny specks of light in the sky.
The other planets are millions of miles away, that's why they seem smaller. What are you? From 1492?
