Flat Earth Q&A / Indisbutable proof that theories are WRONG!

Scientists are actually planning on replicating gravity in future space stations and shuttles by using rotating rooms.

Ha! So much for no scientific evidence!

Of course God has teeth, but like Moslem belief it is wrongful to make images of Him, so we must leave out the teeth to make the thing imperfect. Or summit similar...

Logic and mathematics are descriptive systems which do have some causal relationship with how the universe works: the way the universe (or really, any possible universe) works causes logic and mathematics to be a certain way.

Logic is not a descriptive system. In its simplest form, logic is the study of truth preserving arguments. The first recorded idea of logic is in Aristotle's organon for convincing arguments. Logic is about finding the truth of a given statement.

Mathematics, though seemingly founded on logic, has never been proven using logic. There is no consitent logical base for number - which many would say are the basis of mathematics.

You will often here similar claims: "There are no such things as 'male' and 'female': gender distinctions are invented by society;" an idea I also disagree with.

I agree.

Here is one gender distinction between male and female: Males have external genitalia.

Invented by society? How? Baby-Surgery?

A lot of people say no.  I say yes.

Evolution means that organisms adapt to their enviornment.  Wouldn't that mean that, if Evolution exists (and I believe it does), that the races must have diverged a little bit.  Specialized here and there?

Humans have opposable thumbs. Therefore we are genetically superior at giving the thumbs-up to things.

: )

I think a problem with the PC culture is one echoed in Terry Pratchett's Strata - in the global culture the Eskimo Hunter learns Finance but the German Banker doesn't learn Spear-Fishing.

This is the drawback of a truly equal society - no identity. Utopian.

0.9 recurring = 1.

Prove me wrong. I dares ya.

Err... you can't prove illogical numbers using a logical system, so you can't prove it with mathematics.

Illogical numbers, indeed all numbers, are not a THING but a CONCEPT. The concept of 0.9 recurring is the idea of a number which is almost one but not quite by an infinitely small amount.

The very concept of 0.9 recurring is that it is not quite 1. Therefore, 0.9 recurring is not 1.

Daniel 4:7-8, "I saw a tree of great height at the center of the world. It was large and strong, with its top touching the heavens, and it could be seen from the ends of the earth."

Because the universe doesn't give a damn about paradox and does what it bloody well likes.

You know, I thought for a while what this might mean, and I've finally decided that it doesn't mean anything at all.

Unless you care to expand your statement, I'm at a loss.

The reason that one can go home is because what people think has no direct effect on the universe as a whole. Logic is a human thing, not a science. Logic was originally invented as a means for winning debates.

Zeno's Paradox shows that it is impossible to move anywhere (I've always found a drawback being you couldn't go even a FRACTION of a distance - you'd first have to cover a fraction of that fraction and so on... but I'm deviating), whilst it seems obvious that we can.

So, what does this tell us? That it is, logically, impossible to move. That the very idea is paradoxical.

MY POINT is that logic is all very well, but it has no direct effect on the universe. As so, people can move about and go wherever they want to.
It is my dissaproval of the obsession with logic and order in Western society that makes my nihilistic beliefs more adamant.

Perhaps I'm just ignorant, but I don't know of any other force that could bend light.  What do you suggest this force is?

Excellent point, considering that photons have almost zero physical mass and ONLY TRAVEL IN STRAIGHT LINES.

I actually am considering that the center of the earth may be my home.

I'd say the center of YOUR earth is your head. As for the Earth of everyone else, we all know that's a hallucination caused by over-imagination.

In conclusion, not only is the the flat-earth model proposed on this site scientifically unsound, it is a direct insult to the original purpose of the flat-earth belief.

Ooh, burn!

Can't wait to see the reply...

There is as much proof for my theory as any flat-earth theory.

please explain how things fall to the ground on your model and how the different land masses are organized at least.

How things fall to the ground: THE POWER OF THE LORD!

Organisation of land masses: Take a map on a A3 sheet of paper. Roll it into a tube. Like that.

What I was trying to say is that I have as much SCIENTIFIC evidence as the flat-earthers. Sorry.

Listen to me, for I bring the TRUTH that will wipe away the LIES that you have been told!

.You can find a larger, easier-to-read version here.
Apologies for quality, I had to resize to fit it on the web.

But before you delete this thread as spam, what proof have you got that this isn't:

a) a serious theory; and
b) true

I mean, it COULD BE. If the government can hush up a flat world why couldn't they hush up a tubular one? If God can create anything, could he not create a tubular world?

There is as much proof for my theory as any flat-earth theory.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not think God is a big white ghost - this is my best attempt at drawing an omnipresent being. Originally, he was off-black, but you couldn't make Him out properly. Take no offence, thankyou please

and there is actually about 6.4 billion people on the earth right now, according to the UN anyway.

6.4... 4.6... It's just a matter of order.

And as we ALL know because it MUST be true, the UN spend all their time doctoring photos and hiding the Ice Wall, so what do THEY know?

OK, I'm a little new to this site, I've been looking around, read a few topics, etc, but I'm still a little confused and have a few questions regarding to your theory of a flat Earth.

If the Earth is flat, wouldn't the water run of? How is gravity caused? And what about tectonic plates? Why hasn't anyone gone to the edge and taken a picture but people have managed to take a picture of a spherical Earth from orbit. What caused  the Earth to be flat, are all astronomical bodies flat, including stars?

I'm sorry that it's a bit random, but to be honest, your 'theory' isn't much better.

I think the accepted Flat-Earth view is a combination of:

1. A 150 foot wall of ice around the rim of the world.
2. In the universe, people always fall DOWN, rather than into a gravity source, and the Earth is conveniently beneath us.
3. Earthquakes and Volcanoes are God's work, equivalent of "REPENT YE SINNERS!"
4. Government Conspiracy
5. Governent hushes it all up.
6. Government doctors all the photographs.
7. GOD

See? All makes sense and PERFECTLY logical. Yah...

Look, there were a lot of flat earther people, so it must be true (that the earth is flat):

And just, what, 4.6 Billion who know it's round?

obviously government is a government is a conspiracy so yes i suppose he would mean all of them.

I find it strange that all 191 countries would be organizied well enough, with not only themselves but also with each other, to keep such things hidden from 6.5 billion people.

To which the obvious answer would be that actually there aren't actually that many people in the world, what you think is the country you live in is a giant warehouse made to LOOK like the world. Yeah. Must be. Dang Governments!

Kinda ironic that the Flat Earthers go on so much about government conspiracy when all their 'proof' is conspiracy theory...

Quote from: "Mundi"
All true. So how come I manage to make it home every day, then?

Because the universe doesn't give a damn about paradox and does what it bloody well likes.

Flat Earth Q&A / If the Earth is flat, what's on the other side?

So: what evidence would convince you? Or is no amount of evidence enough? Do you need to see a round Earth, from space, with your own eyes? Or would this still not suffice?

Then they'd say that there was a TV screen instead of a window, playing a video faked by the Illuminati.

obviously the nasa camera was somehow affected by extraneous circumstances (example: a person's thumb was making a shadow over that part of the earth)

see? all makes sense, so stop your "round earth" jibbah-jabbah

Obviously. And on the same note, the Earth has four corners - each of which are held up by four angels -, Eden is on the south coast of Brazil, President Bush uses Voodoo magic to turn his supporters into mindless zombis and the Ark of the Covenant is buried under an oak tree in my backyard.

When you were younger, you instinctively knew the earth was flat.

No I didn't. The horizon's slightly curved, therefore the Earth must be spherical.

Plus, unless you think that there is some unknown continent that acts as a barrier around the entire world, where does all the water come from to replace all the water which must just fall into space?
