Flat Earth Q&A / Distances
« on: November 24, 2006, 07:04:31 AM »
Dear Flat Earthers,

How did you come to the figures for diameter, circumference, distance to sun/moon, diamter of sun/moon, distance of stars, height of ice wall, etc.?

I would genuinely like to know this.

Just go to google and do an image search for "ice wall" and you'll get loads of shots like that.

Q : "Why is the North pole colder than the equator?"

A: The sun orbits over the equator, not the North pole

Quote from: "FAQ"
Q: How do seasons work?

The radius of the sun's orbit around the Earth's axis symmetry varies throughout the year, being smallest when summer is in the northern annulus and largest when it is summer in the southern annulus.

Which is it???

there going to show you pictures of antarctica. This is where there ice wall is, because antarctica goes all the way around the world.

Why do I see no pictures of ice walls?

I took this time I went down to the South Rim:

Is that the kind of thing you had in mind?  I'll tell you this for free: there is nothing like bunjee jumping from the South Rim into outerspace.

You may think that you can see the Sun above the Ice Wall there - this is just an optical illusion, we all know the Sun is never above the South Rim.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the North Hub?
« on: November 24, 2006, 06:17:26 AM »
But surely Flate Earthers could just discount anybody that says they've been to the North Pole by saying they're part of the conspiracy.

I'm not trying to disprove Flat Earth theory. No matter what evidence people provide there'll always be some excuse as to why it that evidence doesn't count.

Here I am trying to find out the Flat Earther reasoning of the world and they don't want to answer.

Flat Earth Q&A / The moon is a sphere
« on: November 24, 2006, 06:02:38 AM »
Quote from: "FAQ"
Q: "Why are other celestial bodies round but not the Earth?"

A: When you look at these celestial bodies, even with a telescope, they're entirely two-dimensional.

The quote above seems to suggest that the moon is a disc. Here's why I logically believe the moon to be a sphere:
  • When the moon is full it is a circle.
  • This is true no matter where you are on the globe...sorry disc.
  • If the moon was a disc it would appear as an elipse unless you were directly under it.
  • Moon phases can't explain this as the moon sometimes appears as a cresent.

hmm... i wonder why. If it was the other way around, it wouldt nowrk, would it

It's nice to just say that it wouldn't work. A Flat Earth wouldn't work. Does that mean I just won the whole argument and we can shut this site down???

Next time try and ellaborate your answer: why wouldn't it work?

..... how the frak would that make it biased?????

It isn't - I was just having fun.

I notice you didn't actually answer my question though.  You may think it's a ridiculous question but by the same token some would say this is a ridiculous website.

Because compasses point North. In FE, there is not really a South pole, or at least it is not a single point.

Thankyou dysfunction. Is this because the compass is magnetically attracted to North? Does Flat Earth have a magnetic field like the actual Earth?

Also, while I'm more or less on the subject of geography: how come you put so much faith in maps? If the governments are organised enough to carry out a global conspiracy then surely they could control the maps of the world.

Flat Earth Q&A / Why the North Hub?
« on: November 23, 2006, 10:23:53 AM »
Just a quick question. Why is North the hub of Flat Earth and South is the rim? Isn't that a bit baised against people in the Southern Hemidisc? Flat Earthers, what proof* do you have that this is the case?

*We know how much you like to go on about proof - remember photos etc. do not count, nor do accounts of other people unless you buy me a plane ticket I won't believe it (that's one for you Mr. 2-heads hobart).
