Flat Earth Debate / Why?
« on: August 14, 2008, 09:07:49 AM »
In the FE model, why do the stars (and possibly the moon) need to exist?  Obviously they are not there specifically for our amusement, so why then do they exist?

Furthermore, what exactly are the stars in FE?  Since they orbit the Earth, they could not possibly be other suns.

The more you read into the finer details, the less statistically likely it becomes.

Flat Earth Debate / Atmospheric Pressure
« on: August 06, 2008, 06:25:16 PM »
I just had this sudden thought while posting something completely unreleated on another forum and need some feedback (I'm betting Dogplatter will be the first to jump on this one ;D).

If the Earth was accellerating upwards, wouldn't this mean that atmospheric pressure would be identical regardless of altitude?  Because I'm pretty sure it would.

We already know for a fact that pressure decreases with altitude.  If the Earth was spherical, it's own gravitational field would pull the atmosphere towards the surface and it's effects would dicsipate as distance from the core increases.  Thus creating different atmospheric pressure.

I've gone over this idea countless times and it seems to be indisputable evidence in my opinion.

Flat Earth Q&A / Earth Curve Can Be Seen From A Plane (sometimes)
« on: August 03, 2007, 05:52:19 PM »
Every time someone brings up this topic, some people claim to be able to see the curve of the Earth at high altitude on a plane, but the majority of "FE'ers" dismiss it as people either "seeing things" or being part of the "conspiracy".  The fact is, it is possible to see the curve of the Earth from a plane SOMETIMES.  This is mainly dependent on visibility conditions (how far you can see).  I was on a flight from Spain last week.  During the flight it was possible to see the curve of the Earth very clearly (quite a number of people sitting near me did not hesitate to point this out to their neighbours).  No doubt "FE'ers" will take no notice of this :).

Flat Earth Q&A / Lunar Eclipse Tonight!
« on: March 03, 2007, 11:16:12 AM »
There will be a total lunar eclipse tonight at approx. 8:20pm GMT, ending around 11pm.  Just thought you'd be intersted :D.

Flat Earth Q&A / Other Planets
« on: November 24, 2006, 03:03:30 PM »
If other planets are assumed to be discs as well, why do they look as though they are rotating when viewed through a telescope?

Flat Earth Q&A / How Many Genuine FE-ers ?
« on: November 19, 2006, 03:49:50 PM »
Just a poll to see how many genuine FE'ers are on the forums :).  (By that I mean GENUINE, not people just here for an arguement ;))

Flat Earth Q&A / Re-Entering Earth's Atmosphere
« on: November 06, 2006, 04:55:50 PM »
When the Space Shuttle is returning to Earth, why does it look as if it is re-entering the atmosphere, when according to FE, it never leaves it?

If satellites do not orbit the Earth, what am I seeing in orbit, moving in straight lines at night, which when I view them through my telescope, look strangely like satellites?  You can even see them without a telescope.  So far, I don't think anyone has answered this question, but rather, try to completely avoid it. :D

Flat Earth General / Has anyone actually seen the "Ice Wall"?
« on: October 17, 2006, 06:32:00 AM »
Has anyone actually seen the "Ice Wall".  The reply I expect is, "The guards kill anyone who goes near it!!!".  That won't work.  Unless anyone has been to this wall and taken pictures from the top,  then how is it proven?  And how do we know that these guards really exist in the first place if no one has seen them?  As far as I know, no one has ever given a straight answer to this question.

Flat Earth Q&A / Just An Idea
« on: October 16, 2006, 05:17:53 AM »
I thought I would spend an hour or so creating a CG model of the "flat earth".  Just to see how it would actually look :) . (NOTE: I am not subscribing to the FE theory ;))  Does anyone know of an FE map in about 1600x1200, or something higher?  If not, I might be able to modify an existing map. :D

Flat Earth Q&A / Simple Questions For FE'ers
« on: October 13, 2006, 03:30:08 PM »
Can FE be disproved?

If it was disproved would you admit it?

FE seems to have evolved quite a lot, over the past few weeks, I've seen dozens of new ideas and theories added to it.  Now that Virgin Galactic have started, they have been claimed to be part of the conspiracy too.

This means that FE cannot be disproved, not the fact that Virgin have become part of the "conspiracy, but the fact that ANYONE who proves the earth to be spherical becomes part of the conspiracy.  So, if I were to go into space tomorrow and say, "Hey, I've seen it, the world is really spherical!!!!!!!!!", does that make me part of the "conspiracy"?

Or how about if I claimed to have gone to the "ice wall" and brought back photograph, would that be treated as absolute proof that the earth is flat?  So naturally, if I brought you a picture of a spherical earth, that would have the same amount of credibility?

Really, I can't wait to see what the replys are this time  :D

Flat Earth Q&A / Earth: Flat or Round
« on: September 16, 2006, 03:27:23 PM »
Round Earth:  99.9% of all people believe that Earth is round.  I am well aware that this does not make it so, but it has been proven and is referred to as a fact.  I do not observe both theories narrow mindedly.  If  someone show me irrefutable proof for a theory, then I will accept it as fact.  Serveral experiments which you can do yourself are:

(1):  Next time you are on a commercial airline flight, observe the curvature of the horizon.  Some people say that this is not visible, but at a high altitude it can be seen clearly.  The reason why some people can see it and some can't, is because some people's eyes are more sensitive to VERY slight curvature than others.

(2):  Watch a ship as it slowly appears to sink below the horizon.  On a flat Earth this would not happen.

(3):  Trails from planes are always curved from horizon to horizon.  If the Earth were flat, this would not happen.

(4):  Look up at this sky and clouds.  You will get the impression of a dome.

  Flat Earth:

(1):  Look at the ground and horizon, it looks quite flat.

(2):  Observe ships as they appear to sink below the horizon, this is nothing more than an illusion created by the atmosphere.

(3):  Look at the moon with a telescope.  It appears as a two dimensional disc.

(4):  Explain gravity.  The Earth is constantly accellerating, this presses down on everything on the surface.

If you compare these pieces of evidence, you will find that the Round Earth theory (or fact, as it must therefore be called) is clearly the winner.  What some people also are not aware of is that the Earth is not a perfect sphere, so it cannot really be called "Round".

Flat Earth General / Space Shuttle Launch - Cannot Be Faked
« on: August 30, 2006, 06:19:50 AM »
Firstly, I am definitely NOT an FE'er.

I have seen TWO Shuttle launches first-hand.  No Internet TV, Sky Digital or any other of those services.

It seems aparent that FE'ers are quite capable of inventing an answer to any of these questions, so I am most likely wasting my time posting this.

If, as you say, the world is entirely flat (which I know it is not), attempt to answer these questions.

1: Why does the Shuttle launch at an angle? (I know that this is because it require movement so that its orbit does not decay)

2: What happens to the Shuttle after launch? (I know it enters orbit)

3: How does it re-enter the Earth's atmosphere and land?

4: A new devision of Virgin, Virgin Galactic has launch and is offering public trips into a sub-orbit where the customer will experience zero-gavity.  Do you honesty believe that the people who have used this service are lying.
