The Lounge / Re: I had an epiphany
« on: March 12, 2010, 02:21:52 AM »
I now understand something I did not see before.  I realized no matter how much I attempt to convince anyone here, you will never switch sides, attempting to convince you would be like arguing with 2012 believers or UFO conspiracy theorists.  Its pointless.

This will be my last post.  Good day.

lol, if it was that easy, do you think this site would exist? =)

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Light bends up, right?
« on: March 11, 2010, 07:51:58 PM »
how is it an assumption that objects are seen revolving around each other?

I didn't say it was.

so what was my assumption?  Objects revolve around each other.  What else can cause this other than a force?

Objects observed in space revolve around each other.  This MUST be caused by a force, otherwise, there is nothing that can account for its constant acceleration.  There are many materials found in space, that are also found on earth, which makes it unlikely that earth is immune to this same force.  Unless people found a reason to suspect otherwise.  The force follows the laws of gravity that were calculated.  Its not exactly an assumption, its an observed force that was given a name.

There is no way to detect gravity without reference to an assumption.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Questions and issues with the FET
« on: March 11, 2010, 07:46:17 PM »
i've always wondered this to =).  I've asked, but never got it answered =D  but that was a logn time ago.  The only answer they explain is that "earth is not like the other planets".  Except, we know what the planets are made of, and we can find identical materials on earth.

I see; so since me and my dog are both made of identical materials, and I can talk, so can my dog!  Swell logic, I'm gonna try to teach him now!

dogs make noise in a similar manner that you do.  It is swell logic.  You'd be surprised at how similar you can be.
Also, are you suggesting that the chemical structures are what makes the planets be able to have a gravitational pull?  If thats the case, why havent we seen/reconstructed any of them?  Celestial objects have come to earth before, where did these compounds go?

Thomas your responses are baseless at best. Pathetic at worst. Props to you for actually answering them all though.

13. Why aren't other planets flat

Why don't zebras have flippers?

This is the worst answer of them all. THe other planets are obviously spherical. This is evidence of a gravitational force that exists without the constant acceleration theory. The many moons around many other planets are evidence that orbit is possible. Yet why is earth different? Why do we require the acceleration from dark energy to explain gravity, Why are we not affected by the same gravity as all the other celestial bodies? What makes you think our moon is different to ALL the other planets moons. Saying these things are so because FE requires them to be so is not an adaquete answer, especially since FE is far from proven. Most FE arguments are quite circular...(Spherical) :P

EDIT: also, zebras do have flippers, they use it to walk though, since the bone sizes are suited to do so =)

Oh, did you try dropping a brick on your testicle and pretending there is no detectable force? Did you try jumping in the air and seeing if you could avoid coming back down?
You really are a sad specimen.

im not sure how many more several billion dollar gambles people are willing to make though =)

Like health care reform?

exactly =D.  So many gambles that hit close to home already, nobody is going to be willing to just land on the moon just for the fun of it.

if im on the earth, i should see the horizon straight ahead, and the sky meets the ground midway (in my perspective) even if im standing up (although greatly increasing my altitude should distort this).

If the atmosphere is distorting where this midpoint is, then i should see a gradual change, that cannot be fixed with binoculars/telescope (i say binoculars because its something people are more likely to have  :))

i like how they dont mention that they have no scientific need to actually waste billions of dollars into going into space.

they didnt make it first, whats the point in making it second?  Do they have some sort of experiment to do?  Is there the cure for hunger up there?  Alternative fuel source?

Who in their right mind would spend billions of dollars to go to an atmospheric wasteland thats ALREADY been explored/experimented on? They have all that they need already in forms of space trave/orbit, who would go to the moon?

EDIT: the site spends a lot of time mentioning soviets never going on the moon, and the fact that there is no point in doing so is never mentioned.

Then why don't they just lie about the fact that spaceflight is impossible?

i forget, but i think they said the reason was that they didnt know what the shape of the planet was when they started the conspiracy, so they just said what the popular opinion was.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Airline travel in the southern hemisphere?
« on: February 24, 2010, 11:45:04 AM »
Not to mention:

The FE's claim that the conspiracy keeps track (or was it controls?) of all distances/routes.

So they have a little monitor in every car, bike and motorcycles odometer to make sure it reads correct distances in the southern hemisphere so it doesn't state that we are actually traveling 5x as far?

they dont need a moniter, the odometers should already be pre-programmed to give false information
You're an idiot. Odometers measure linear distance. They have absolutely no way in hell of knowing where you are on earth.

You aren't paying attention. The point is, linear distances are inconsistent all over the world on a FE. You're really bring down the entire FE team when you say stupid shit like this.

Its ok if im bringing down the FE team, im not part of it =).

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Lack of Gravity
« on: February 24, 2010, 11:35:16 AM »
there is a small difference, which is that gravity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two objects  (~1/r2).  In FET, this shouldnt change with altitude, but in RET it does (now if only people can gain enough altitude in an efficient way to measure this  :( You have to be in the army or work for nasa or something to actually get that high).  Basically, in RET, as you get higher, you get lighter.

because E&M also has this inverse square property, and they have a particle responsible for this force (the photon).  unfortunately, even with the high energy colliders, the basic unit responsible for the gravitational force in RET has not been observed (although the "graviton" has been theorized to exist, it has not been observed as of yet).  Every other force has a particle which has been responsible, and has been observed.

Also, using the RE theory of gravity, there seems to be more mass in the universe than is actually observable.

Me too. I did look sort of Muslim-y, though. I have pretty dark colours, almond shaped eyes, bushy eyebrows, and buzzcut hair, along with a rather big, bushy beard at the time. I can see how I fit the stereotype.

they wear pretty bright colors im pretty sure.

Your statement was not specific. You need to differentiate between "real" and "residual self image".

well, nobody looks like a fake human =)

They don't have a working map, and never will, because the Earth is not flat.

The FE's claim that the conspiracy keeps track (or was it controls?) of all distances/routes.  You may seem like you are going in a straight line, or that two seemingly straight lines meet from pole to pole, but your navigation (which is most likely machine based, as you are never going to the southern hemisphere relying on stars alone) is misleading you

i think its better for the FET if antartica was not part of the ice wall, so that its simpler to explain Gauss's law of magnetism on earth :)

there are a large number of people who use human pictures as their avatar.  How many of them are their real faces i wonder?

Of course, finding out will depend on the number of people willing to admit it   :)

also, jupiter is a massive gas giant. it has the mass of a golfball, and due to zero gravity its about a thousand times the size of the earth.

space > your theory.

i think your very slightly underestimating the mass of jupiter  ;)

although it is made of gas, it has more than 100x more mass than the earth (im not sure the exact number offhand)

The Flat Earth Society is the last place you'd expect to find him, so the perfect place for him to hide.

thats actually a good point.  Who better to give controlled evidence FOR a flat earth than the people who know it most?

EDIT: im not actually accusing anyone specifically,  but it may be possible that some members of FE to actually be members of the conspiracy. (without the FEers realizing it)
