what's the reward for we doing this?

You don't need to reply to my question if you do not want to.

However, I am always happy to answer questions about astronomy, science, physics and mathematics.

Flat Earth General / Flat earth observations/experiments

Hello Flat Earthers,

in this thread I would like you to describe any experiment/observation you have made yourself that shows evidence of a flat earth. Please describe your experiment/observation in detail, and why you think it shows an inconsistency to the 'globe model'.

Thank you

But how is it possible that I have actually measure this apparent movement of 15 degrees per hour? I measure this myself many times? How can that be possible?

It is possible because:
1) You do not understand the geometry of the positions of the earth and sun and how the sun moves across the sky with respect to the local earth coordinate system.
I do understand simple geometry. I studied mathematics and physics
Quote
2) You have measured incorrectly, and with insufficient error bars.

Could be a possibility, but with many repeated measurements it is easy to see that the deviation is less than 100%. That is sufficient to rule out flat earth
Quote
3) You have not read and comprehended the explanations given in the previous (now this) topic.

Irrelevant. It is about the observation of the apparent motion of the sun. It is just about an observation. Independent of any explanation
Quote
4) You have convinced yourself that a 360 degree earth rotation in 24 hours is equivalent to an apparent angular motion of 15 degrees/hour, and that has biased you into "fudging" your measurements to give the correct answer.

Incorrect. I am interested in reality, the truth, science, knowledge.
Quote
Even using predictions (like the NOAA Solar Calculator) confirm that the angular position of the sun does not agree with a 15 degree/hour apparent angular motion rate.

Irrelevant. If earth were flat the angular motion must be MUCH smaller close to a sunset/sunrise. An approximate measurement is enough.

I can't help you with your own reading comprehension and/or laziness. This is your topic. That you started. You are on the very page with the answer you seek.

Ok, then there is no answer to my question.

I just went through all the responses and comments. There is no answer!
Yes, there is. The answer is that your premise, the very assumption that your argument is built upon, is not correct, and to continue asserting it is like you have done is to ignore reality, which you are also doing when you say you haven't had this explained to you.

Typical distraction to the subject of gyroscopes is off topic.  This topic is about the apparent motion of the sun relative to an observer on Earth.  Nothing else.

Focus, people.

For what itís worth I think the numbers should be 15 deg per hour during the equinox, gradually reduced to 13.75 deg per hour at the solstices.

I think we can just take the angular movement from equinoxes (360/24) and multiply by cosine of the offset (maximum 23.5 deg at solstices).

Can anyone confirm?

Bingo.

Ah thank you. That is what you mean.

So you think the sun does not move at an angular speed of 15 degrees per hour? Are you saying that premise is incorrect?
It does not.
Yes.

But how is it possible that I have actually measure this apparent movement of 15 degrees per hour? I measure this myself many times? How can that be possible?

'No answer' to an easy Round Earth question is simply the default Flat Earth position...

Yes, it has a simple answer for the sphere earth 'model'. Which I think included in my first post.

If something is unclear (for Flat earthers): ask.

Otherwise: How does it work on a flat earth? (Please see first entry in that thread). I am happy to copy-and-paste the original question. I am als happy to answer any question from a flat earther.

I'll help you out by merging this with your other thread so you can more easily search for the already-given answer.

Sorry about the other thread, I forgot I asked that question already.

Also I would appreciate if you point out the answer to my question, as I cannot see an answer to my question. Thanks

Flat Earth General / Re: Seeing the sun on the head is not real
« on: July 16, 2019, 03:02:01 AM »

Earth rotates at a constant velocity around the horizontal surface in 24 hours and at the same time moves upwards at constant speed.  So the continents and the oceans are located on the same side of the Earth.  That is, the earth surface is flat.  So seeing the sun on the head is not real.

What do you mean by 'seeing the sun on the head'? What do you mean?

You already started a topic on this, and were already told that your premise was wrong.

https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=82127.0

My premise is wrong? What do you mean?

I observed the apparent motion of the sun to be 15 degrees per hour many many times.

So what is wrong?

We know that, if a passenger with dynamic bus is throwing a cricket ball on the steep one, the cricket ball will return to the passenger. It is exactly the same as the surface. As the bus booms on the surface, the cricket ball runs on its way to the ground. The new ball is in the same place on the bus.  But if there is gravity, if the object is dragged down to the bottom of the earth,  What is the path to the same speed?

What is a dynamic bus? What passenger?

Your question is not clear to me at all.

Flat Earth General / Apparent motion of the sun
« on: July 15, 2019, 10:58:28 PM »
It can be easily observed that the sun moves at an apparent angular speed of 15 degrees per hour (and similar for the moon).

In the normal sphere model it is easily explained: The earth rotates once in 24 hours with respect to the sun, and a full circle is 360 degrees, so the angular speed is 360 degrees / 24 hours = 15 degrees/hour.

But how is the apparent movement of 15 degrees/hour explained in the FE model?

Flat Earth General / Re: Sunset
« on: July 14, 2019, 11:13:00 PM »
An even better question, why are the bottom of the clouds illuminated?

Because only the light from the Sun is refracted and from the clouds isn't.
That way we see Sun lower than it is and clouds as high as they are.

That doesn't explain why the clouds are illuminated by sunlight from underneath.  If the sunlight is being refracted towards our view point it can't also be refracted upward to the bottom of the clouds that are above us.

Ofcourse it doesnt.
But explains how they explain light from different sources differently through the same air. :)

Maybe sunlight is special light?

And only the direct sunlight. All other light is refracted just in such a way to have the impression that earth is a sphere. Am I right, wise?

Flat Earth General / Meeting with Flat Earther in Geneva
« on: July 14, 2019, 10:43:02 PM »
Hi Flat earthers,

I am looking for a flat earth believer to meet in a bar (or something) in Geneva. I might pay you a beer (or two). I just want to talk to you, that is all.

So if you happen to come to Geneva, please let me know.

75
I didn't call you stupid. I suggested you may be under-informed with respect to the context of the comment.

Back on topic, let's all take a moment to remember this is the thread where rab finally accepted FE! And I think C&C was waiting on some specific evidence supporting alex's claims in the OP.

What claim? I just wanted to know how flat earth explains the apparent motion of the sun of 15 degrees per hour. Thats all.

I did not make a claim.

76
How then does a sundial like this keep quite good time with uniformly spaced hour lines?

Would you look at that. Another victory for FE!!

Ah I see. It is not about truth for you, but to 'win' only.

I see

Click "Search." Type the following, including the quotes: "Another victory for FE!" Learn context.

LOL. I am not a brainless puppet. I can think!

Flat Earth General / Re: Models of flat earth

I want to learn about flat earth.

No, you do not.

If you sincere so you can read my and sandokhan's workings in believers subforum. another thing?

I do not want to read comments in a forum.

I want to read about a model of flat earth! If earth is really flat, I want to know it!

Flat Earth General / Re: Models of flat earth
« on: July 01, 2019, 11:59:44 PM »
Okay, so what have you done so far?

Seen models proposed in face book and other sites. I so far have only seen the """standard""" FE model, the flat disk with the sun circling above. But clearly this model does not describe what we all can observe.

So is there a '''better''' model?

79
Flat Earth General / Models of flat earth

I want to learn about flat earth.

So can you please point me to the model of flat earth, or a model? I would prefer a scientific paper, a wikipedia entry, an article, or something I can read (no Youtube videos!). I want learn about flat earth models that describe the world as we can observe it.

Thank you so much!

Flat Earth General / Number one observation that earth is flat
« on: June 30, 2019, 10:09:31 PM »
Flat earthers only!

And ONLY response to this question. No discussion in this thread. Create a new thread when you want to discuss details.

Question: What is your NUMBER ONE observation THAT YOU HAVE MADE YOURSELF that convinces you that earth cannot be a sphere, and that the 'sphere model' must be wrong?

83
This is a very advanced question for a flat earther.

When you observe the sun (or the moon), you can see that the apparent angular movement is always the same. It is about 15 degrees per hour. It means, the position of the sun and the moon changes by 15 degrees per hour.

How can that be possible on a flat earth?

In the sphere model it is trivial: The earth rotated once full (360 degrees) in 24 hours (i.e. a day). That makes 15 degrees per hour. Simple.

But how can it work on a flat earth?

Flat Earth General / Re: Cavendish experiment
« on: June 26, 2019, 07:50:25 AM »

Proven. Case closed.[/b]

Typical flat earther. Ignoring substantial questions (or everything) and claiming a 'victory'.

- Does the moon affects a compass?
- Why does the Cavendish experiment always work, no matter the position of the moon?
- How does the moon affect metal?

85
Flat Earth General / Re: Cavendish experiment
« on: June 26, 2019, 03:54:12 AM »
My original question was:

Quote
If 'gravity' is not real, why does the Cavendish experiment work then, showing 'gravity' between masses?

I mean, if gravity is not real, and the 'effect' of gravity was seen, is it because
- the experiment has been designed so to 'fake' the result?
- the professor is part of the conspiracy and did some 'tricks' so the masses are moving?
- all students were given hallucinogen drugs to think the masses were moving?
- anything else?

The metal balls used must not be metal to indicate that the attraction effect is not affected by the magnet property of the other object or the magnetic field of the moon. Your questions are void, childish and illogical because balls which used are metal balls. I guess you don't follow the development of the issue.

Ah, so you are saying the experiment 'works' because of the magnetic field of the moon. I understand.

But why does the experiment always work independent of the moon's position then?

Also, I prefer to stay on the subject and hand and not refer to insulting people. The one who insults other people is the idiot.

It has been already answered. If you deny all the answers what means to reply you again and again. Is it because to see how you shamesly deny the opinions of others ?

LOL. Of course it has not been answered. Please stop lying to me, I have to report you otherwise.

Any conspiracy to hide the true shape of the earth is a figment of the imagination of flat earthers. So you are unlikely to get any factual answers.

Of course not. But maybe a flat earther thinks about it once, and realizes that flat earth is the utmost extreme incredible nonsense.

Simple. It does not work. Prove somebody have done that experiment in completely a fair and scientific environment; with preventing every type of manipulation.

I have witnessed that experiment myself in university.
