Round earther after having spent several years in the military sailing all over everywhere.

The other thing is that ANY evidence or proof of round earth no matter how well presented is immediately dismissed as fake or b.s.

Not a flat earther either, but I've wondered about this also. Maybe they all go up with the along with the flat earth?

We only guess.

It takes an honest agent to answer.

Who dares to give such information? Please post. 8)

Explaining the notable lack of whistle blowers seems more a question for flat earthers.

This is one that gets me too.. If there really is a vast conspiracy going on, the fact that no one involved with proof has EVER come forward to blow the lid off is telling. In my experience people love to let secrets out, whatever the secret is. It even happened when I was in the military. Some people love to let secrets out just to see the shit hit the fan..

I know the earth is round based on the fact that when I was in the Navy we had to send helicopters out ahead of the ship to chase drug runners we couldn't see visually or with radar or high powered optics because of the curvature of the earth. They could fly high and move much faster than we could sail and would see the boat or object and relay that info back to the ship.

For everyone:
How long have you been on the Flat Earth Society? Year plus or minus.
Where are you from? USA
What do you do for work?  Auto industry.
Have you met/made friends with anyone on this site? No
Why did you decide to make an account on here? To learn about why people believe in flat earth
What is your main form of interaction on this site? Mostly read, occasionally post.
Do you feel that an online forum like this is the best way to communicate ideas and discuss theories? Yes.
When you first joined this forum, did you consider other websites/forums?  No.
Has there ever been a time where you encountered a user who 'went too far' in an online discussion? For example, No.
When have you met a user who was completely toxic or do you feel like most users here are friendly? Not sure they’re toxic, but many users here are convinced they are more enlightened or intelligent or superior to non-believers and many times talk down to round earth believers.

For believers:
Have you found anything that would be impossible with a round Earth and what are they?
Have there been facts on this forum that backed up your beliefs?
Have you always believed the Earth was flat or was this a recent discovery/conclusion you've developed in time?
Who told you the Earth was flat?
Who told you the Earth was round and why didn't you believe them?
What do you think about the non-believers on this site?

For non-believers:
Please elaborate why you (a non-believer) decided to make an account on a site for believers. To learn about flat earth believers and why they believe what they do.
What is your personal purpose on this site? (Discussion?, Conversion?, etc.) Occasional discussion, entertainment.
Was there ever a piece of information presented to be proof of a flat Earth that you could prove was not proof? I can only say that I believe there is no vast military or government/s conspiracy nor is there any proof of a flat earth based on my own experiences sailing from Victoria Canada to Columbia South America and all over the Pacific ocean in the Navy. I have seen how the ship fights and how it is operated in general and the equipment used in navigation and also how objects and ships and land appear and disappear over the horizon with high powered optics and my own eyes and based that I believe the earth is round.
What do you think of the believers on this site? Sometimes I wonder if they’re actually serious about all this. As far as the people who do support flat earth theory I don’t believe their minds can be changed away from it..

I am not trying be disrespectful or rude or start a war here, I just have a few questions I was wondering about that I haven’t really seen clear answers on. Maybe I have not read enough..
1.   Why not just charter a plane and fly to and past the ice wall to see what if anything is on the other side and if it just goes on and on?
2.   Why not charter a boat and sail to the wall to see if the military really is there guarding it?
3.   Why has no one involved in the biggest conspiracy in history EVER come forward and blown the lid off?
4.   Why not buy a good quality telescope and look at the ISS as it goes by?
5.   Why not go to an observatory? I have read that many offer tours and allow the public to look through the telescope at certain times.
6.   Has anyone here ever owned a satellite phone and taken it to where there mountains are on all sides and there are no cell tower signals and made a phone call?
7.   Are there any military flat earthers here? Did you ever use equipment that only communicated/worked with satellites?
8.   Have you used a gps device in the mountains where there was no way to get a signal from anywhere but the sky?
9.   Do any flat earthers live in the mountains where there is no way to get a tv/internet signal from anywhere but a dish pointed the sky?

Actually I don't remember a lot from first grade but I do remember my own experiences sailing in the Navy which have convinced me the earth is not flat. I am also not part of any conspiracy about the shape of the earth. Mainly because there is no conspiracy.

Seems to me it would be a massive effort to fake the shape of the earth and you'd need an army of people to keep it going. Plus how would you keep all those involved from spilling the beans? People love to let secrets slip..

Weather you like or hate him, issues with Iran did not just start with Trump's election, but the threat from Iran is real and I do not believe dealing with them is a distraction from anything. Especially a debate as silly as the shape of the earth.

Flat Earth General / Re: The 'sphere-earth' conspiracy
« on: August 09, 2019, 06:57:00 AM »
I have still problems understanding how a 'sphere earth' conspiracy could possibly work. I would like to have input from flat-earthers.

How big is that conspiracy? Even if there are only a 'few' on top of the conspiracy, some people must fake a LOT of data. All images from space, from probes, telescopes, all the astronauts, all the rocket launches etc etc. There is so much that need to be faked. Or scientific results from planet observation, galaxies, black holes -  all must be faked! That must be a lot of people!

Why haven't any of these people coming forth and told us the 'truth'? What do you think is going on? How are they kept in the conspiracy? Why don't they leave?

Also, there must be a recruitment process to get people in that conspiracy. How do you think that is working? Are they going to a physics post-doc and saying "oh by the way, all is fake. We need you to do these fakes", and the post doc is fine with that? Where can I sign up to join the conspiracy? How do you thin it all works?
If there really was some conspiracy going on I truly believe someone with knowledge would have ratted on the people involved by now, because in my experience at least, people LOVE to spill secrets. Even if it is just work gossip people always know your business, and some people love to let secrets out simply to see the shit hit the fan. Even when I was in the military people would sometimes let secrets out for no other reason then simple stupidity and procedure errors. Even if you did it anonymously, imagine blowing the lid off the biggest conspiracy ever and what would do for someone's ego. Plus, to keep this conspiracy going it would require such a large amount of people all over the world I just can't see how you could possibly keep all those involved in check and silent. It seems like that would be a full time job by itself. Even when people are paid to be quiet about whatever, how many times do we see dirt on some politician or celebrity made public online or in the news. This whole thing just doesn't work for me based on the logistics of it all..

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Internet from satellite
« on: June 26, 2019, 08:11:15 AM »
Sending signal 23 000 miles up doesn't seem so strange if you look at the bigger picture.

Terrestrial TV diffusion stations use frequencies up to 890 MHz.
With a bandwith of 7 MHz per channel the number of channels is limited to pretty low number.
More and more stations introduced more and more programmes and expansion was needed.
Higher frequencies require denser distribution of more expensive repeaters and land broadcast price grows exponentially.
More repeaters also require more maintenance, which is also expensive.

For satellite broadcast the frequencies between 12 and 18 GHz were accepted.
Those frequencies behave almost like light and to cover as much as one single satellite can would require thousands of land repeaters.
And ground configuration would still leave many holes in coverage.
Satellite is significantly cheaper than thousands of repeaters, in addition to that requires no maintenance, and each of them covers almost a third of the globe.

While the delay makes no difference with TV (except the Interactive TV), with the Internet is diferent story.
Satellite internet has much longer ping.
Playing real time MMOs (Massibve Multiplayer Online games) loses all appeal when you have lag bigger than 30-60 milliseconds.

That is why people choose land link wherever they can.
But land Internet doesn't cover everything.

As several people already said, the Sat Internet is at some places the only choice.

You still could not explain why internet does not work in the middle of Oceans. And why isn't there a real photo of satellites? They are absent. Get stop to trying to deceive me. Are you claiming your being better than rabinoz that he his trying to deceive me since 3 years but could not achieved. Are you claiming your being better than rabinoz or is he insufficient?

Have you actually ever been to the middle of the ocean? If there has never been internet service out on the ocean then there are a whole lot of military and non military sailors who are all liars. Actually it would be every Navy sailor I've ever met and I'd imagine even cruise ship passengers..

In many aeroplane there is WIFI available for passenger wheret it is get internet directly from satellite. But why it is not available for us. Why using BTS tower that needs to dig up the ground for fiber optics connection to work.

Because so called satellites are actually land based  transmission station. The reason for the internet working on plane is still the ground station. The internet does not work on the ocean even if you are on the plane. therefore, planes prefer to stay in close contact with the ground station by entering close to land. otherwise they may disappear from the radar and fall. history is full of bitter experiences of this choice.
When I was in the Navy we had internet access on the ship out in the middle of the ocean from a satellite dish aimed at the sky. There were no land signals.
Prove what you say. because globularists constantly say lie as a life style.
It is your choice to believe me or not, I don't care. I don't generally believe I'm living a liar's lifestyle but I only make comments based on my own experiences in the military and life in general.

I also have a satellite dish at my house. It is on our upstairs balcony surrounded on three sides by the building and on the rail side by a 3.5-4’ solid wall covered in stucco. The roof of the building is tall and the dish barely clears the top of it for the signal. There is no way this dish can receive a signal from the ground.

We had access when the ship was headed in a certain direction because of the placement of the dish on the ship's mast. While the ship was heading on that same course we had a connection. When we changed course the connection was lost.

Flat Earth General / Re: How does the conspiracy work?
« on: June 13, 2019, 02:21:26 PM »
If the earth is flat, then the conspiracy of politicians, scientists, astronomers, astronauts, space agencies, engineers, computer scientists, geoscientists, etc etc must be really really large.

But how do people get in this 'conspiracy'? How do people become 'part' of it? Will men in black show up and force you into it? And if there is a scientist interested in the truth, trying to do serious research - is he being told (when reaching a senior position) that all is a lie and now he/she must continue to lie? To create fake images, fake data?

How does this work?

I can't see any way to actually keep that many people in line and quiet. In my own experience at least, people love to let secrets slip. Sometimes just for the fun of seeing the shit hit the fan..

You won't get any proof or real arguments or answers. No matter what proof or evidence you provide you will be accused of fabricating, or presenting false information. Or being part of the conspiracy or your credentials are false or you're wrong or uneducated or naïve or stupid or indoctrinated or gullible. Insults generally follow. You could physically take a flat earther to space and they'd accuse you of faking that too. There is nothing you can say or do to bring them to your side of this debate. Your arguments here are considered defeated before you even start. NASA, airlines, militaries, governments, schools, people telescopes, maritime navigation, sailors, bees, mice, dogs ect. are all part of the round earth lie and cover up.

Yes. If someone is continually harassing you and following you around, you have the right to defend yourself, even if it requires the use of physical force.
It would have to be incredibly irritating to have to deal with reporters in your face like that all the time.

Flat Earth General / Re: The Sun??
« on: February 15, 2019, 10:34:55 AM »
Yes the radar is mounted high on the ship so that it can be as effective as possible but if an object is a very long distance away at the waterline or at a low altitude over the water the radar may not see it because of the earth’s curvature. The ship is small and slow, so we sent out fast helicopters at higher altitudes to compensate for that and find the object and relay the information back to the ship. For a similar reason military pilots sometimes fly their aircraft nap-of-the-earth to avoid detection by radar. My statements and opinions are based only on my own experiences in the military during my deployment looking for tiny boats running drugs to the US so take it for what it’s worth.

Flat Earth General / Re: The Sun??
« on: February 13, 2019, 07:55:41 AM »
The ships radar also didn't see them when they disappeared over the horizon. That was why we sent helicopters out over the horizon to track the targets and tell the ship where they were.

I have one question about the flat earth....Something has been bugging me and I want to understand....So, on a flat earth when a boat goes over the horizon or out of view you can look through a telescope and it reappears....So when the sun goes below the horizon or out of view can we see it through a telescope?????
Having watched many ships and objects appear and disappear over the horizon I can assure you they do not reappear with binoculars or a high powered military telescope.

It just seems unlikely to me at least that no one involved in the cover up has come forward to expose the truth. In my own experience there are always people out there who enjoy telling even the smallest secret. Something like this would make a person famous.

That's a  lot of groups to keep in line..

The navy or air force is part of the conspriacy. On the other hand, there are foldings on the uneven surface of the Earth, which corrects the difference.
I'm former US Navy with a security clearance. I do not know of, and I'm not part of a conspiracy, and I don't believe the Navy is hiding any information on the shape of the earth. What would be the point. Why has no one ever come forth with proof of the conspiracy? We use GPS and satellites to navigate the ship, and perform combat operations. The dishes and other equipment we use for information and other functions are pointed at the sky at satellites because the earth is round.

I have never heard of a duty station on any ring around the earth or seen any evidence or even talked to anyone who has. I have other members of my family who were Navy, and all the other branches who never served in a place like an ice wall around the earth. The Navy and other branches are not looking for people trying to sail near any ice walls.

I have posted about this before but this is why I personally do not believe in flat earth. I did a 7 month deployment on a US Navy frigate. I have been in the combat information center (CIC) and also on the bridge and I have seen how the ship is navigated using the gps system, and I have seen that equipment pointed up at the sky looking for satellites not towers when we were close to shore and out in the middle of the ocean. I have taken part in combat training on how the ship could not see a target over the horizon so helicopters were sent out to track targets the ship couldn’t see visually or with radar because of the earth’s curvature. All/any of the dishes on the ship other than radar were always pointed up at the sky and never along or towards the ground.

These are only my own experiences and I understand they are not proof to anyone but I believe gps and satellites and round earth are real based on these experiences in the military so take it for what it’s worth.

My directv dish is in a corner on our upstairs balcony facing the building, and it is pointed up at the sky with just enough clearance to get a signal over the roof. It is surrounded on three sides by the building and the railing on the balcony is solid with fairly thick stucco walls that are roughly 4 feet tall, so it's completely blocked off on all sides except for a small point in the sky where it's aimed/gets signal. It is just my opinion but I don't see how this could be getting tv service from anything other than a satellite. Plus in the winter even a small amount of snow on the dish blocks the signal so I am sure the building is keeping any ground level signals from hitting the dish
