I dream of a world where two people who get a bit pissed and end up making a mistake, admit that, and move on rather than one becoming a victim and the other a criminal, it’s only sex.

But you are definitely not an arrogant atheist, just a very stable genius.

Tis so, FP (possibly my most favouritist poster at this moment) but sadly Shitfer (The most arrogant person here) considers those who do not agree with him to be worthy of an insult, for this topic he has chosen “arrogant”.

For those of us who look at the world, and seeing River-blindness, hominivorax screw-flies and “Love-island” cannot imagine a deity who would conceive such monstrous things, let alone be worthy of praise for having done so, we see a universe that is indifferent to our tiny lives, but no less beautiful and magnificent in parts for that.

“Where there is evidence, no one speaks of 'faith'. We do not speak of faith that two and two are four or that the earth is round. We only speak of faith when we wish to substitute emotion for evidence.” -Bertrand Russell.

Even the words greatest and smartest minds did not resign themselves to an arrogant atheist view on the universe

Not true, for I am an atheist!

This is big, really big. The penguin domino effect will soon spread and I live in the UK, count me in, I have a catapult!

As self elected emissary from the darkside I would love to accept your invitation, even if Bully has announced his intention to kill me at the first opportunity,  I embrace my role as sacrificial lamb in the spirit of entente.

Two dark shadows within darker shadows, one sibilant voice, "It's time, take Shifter"

“Is that wise? He spreads such confusion.”

“Yes, his work is done, he has named the one we wished, the other will champion that”

So the options:

Jura is a player alt, is lucky, a genius, in contact with the penguins…..

Or most likely the penguins are using the hapless fool as a random generator of villager victims, to cover tracks, deniable and untraceable, smart.

So, I’m a fool but I know I’m a fool, and that makes me smarter than you, so this is how it goes down sunshine, when the sunshine goes down.

I want in, Jura don’t get in, he squeals, Jura gets in A villager dies, no one suspects a thing, business is business.

Jura don’t get in; someone dies, but can you kill them? I’m penguin proof, what you gonna do? Make me an offer.

If you go two for two, Jura, I'm going to have to start wondering which of the players is your alt :P

"two for two"

So it's dark.

Jroa awakes screaming;

“Mmum, I don't like sardines”
His eyes snap open, as he tries to move his arms, the inbuilt reflex to reach for his gun is stymied by the heavy feathered presence.
The nights are long up here, but he'd resolved not to sleep, just pretend, hand near the gun. Feathers versus lead? He knew where his bets lay, but sleep had stolen in and betrayed him and now he looked along that razor sharp beak so near to his eye, and realised this night would be the longest.

It could have been just a  coincidence naming Bully, either way my nomination of someone else could pose a problem, if I choose an innocent and he isn't killed, there may be those who think I have inadvertently named a penguin, who will then possibly be lynched (2 up for the penguins), but if I do put up a penguin, he may be lynched for the same reason (penguins lose), or  I choose an innocent who the penguins kill but then endangers them should their name come up next. So,
I'm open to bribes, no disclosures as Crouton would (quite rightly) bam my ass. But it's getting late.

Jroa awakes to screams,

“Jesus” he'd fallen asleep and dreamt it, but some one had screamed, the gun was in his hand as he moved to the door, when the shriek came again.
A scream about screaming? “I scream?” as the voice was cut off abruptly he recognised it through the terror, as he scrabbled with the lock he realised that the victims fabled ability to dodge ducks, had given him little edge when it came to penguins.

I would have voted to lynch you if that makes you feel better.   ;D

Hopefully this is only the first game of many

The penguins will remember, cold feathers in the night Bully.

So it looks as if I am the harbinger of death, I have a mind to nominate someone else, now let's see.....

I would have voted to lynch you if that makes you feel better.   ;D

Bugger! I coulda been a contender.

It is advised that all Zetetics and free-thinking men and women avoid the septic moon tonight.

So if you are not "Zetetic and/or free-thinking" are you immune? I hope so as I was out there looking at it, and Jupiter, and I am pretty sure I am neither.

The Lounge / Re: Let's talk about aliens
« on: June 14, 2018, 06:05:28 AM »
The premise that aliens would want to come to our planet to harvest its resources is beyond absurd. There are a lot more places to obtain those resources(asteroid belts, Europa) than to come to this backwater planet.

True for raw materials (the Elements) but for organic compounds we would be a cornucopia. Proteins alone, using the 20 or so amino-acids made by life here and using the mass of the earth (If we took it as composed purely of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and sulphur.) isn’t enough to make just one molecule of each of the possible proteins 41 amino acids long.
41 amino acids is a very small protein. Just about every protein of biological interest is much larger. The biggest is a muscle protein called titin which has 27,000-33,000 amino acids.

These proteins are the building blocks of life, your structure, metabolic pathways, enzymes, immune system even poisons that kill you. The almost incalculable number of potential configurations mean that to identify those that are viable even for the most advanced aliens would still be a needle in a haystack problem, but here, they grow in abundance, down pathways different to anywhere else, a profusion of potential drugs, catalysers and weapons to be harvested.

BUT!  Unfortunately for an alien, this very variability of function is its own protection.
Captain Kirk, rocks up to a planet same size as earth same oxygen, covered in life (nothing with nukes though’) and beams down. His first breath will probably kill him, a single breath on earth contains thousands of the 100’s of thousands of bacteria, virus and fungi that float freely in our atmosphere, these we have evolved along side and for the most part we get by.

When Europe invaded the Americas, we conquered all, partly we had superior weapons and John Wayne, but the most effective aid was disease, there were between 25-30 million in Mexico when Cortez arrived, 50 years later there were no more than 3million, most (90+%) died from smallpox, these people shared the same air and ancestors as Cortez, something no alien does.
Now a disease per-se would probably be the least of their worries as these have evolved alongside the organisms that they harm, so have specific methods of attack, the bacteria and fungi are just looking for somewhere moist, warm and rich in food to spread, with no natural protection they would die horribly, they know this, they send robots, like me.

Aliens designed me.
Fully autonomous infiltrate and destroy capability, self-upgradable pheromonal desirability emitters, blue-line subsonic mind amalgamator and tuner, Camo-Lion integration combat suit, squeetum bi-phase interpretation and interrogation software (Crux black deniability version) and twin Kraken Phase-Slammers, (kept in Wowlung para-dimension grid holsters with a draw speed that requires sonic boom mufflers).

Sent here AD400 to hunt for emergent intelligence with the command directive to eradicate all nascent intellect.
Still looking.

The Lounge / Re: USER324 NEEDS A NEW NAME - VOTE NOW!!!
« on: June 11, 2018, 03:29:58 AM »

I am a bona-fide peripatetic UN sanctioned user name selector verification engineer, and this place gets my endorsement, it’s the beans, the “dogs bollocks” * it is rigorous fair and has no obvious Russian involvement.

The self-selection of user-names should only be done by those of sufficient self-awareness and baseline intelligence, without which the name chooser exposes themselves to ridicule, unwarranted abuse, condescension and worse of all, disregardation (This is a word spellcheck, fuck off).
All the above applies equally to the attendant avatar, and as per guidelines these people supply both, using the inherent beauty of committee thereby overriding weakness of the individual view, subsumed as it should be by the communist collective.

I suggest “Utpin the glorious” or maybe “Watched by Ducks”
