Trump opens Office of the Former President; will ‘carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration’

Former president Donald Trump announced Monday that he has formally opened the Office of the Former President.

“The Office will be responsible for managing President Trump’s correspondence, public statements, appearances, and official activities to advance the interests of the United States,” the office said in a statement that also declared that Trump will “always and forever be a champion for the American People.”

Notably, among the functions of the office will be to “carry on the agenda of the Trump Administration through advocacy, organizing, and public activism.”

The office will be headquartered in Palm Beach County, Fla.

Not sure if Vox is credible to you or not but this video is pretty well sourced.



But the relevant points are that the Constitution only requires a simple majority to pass bills in the senate.  The senate has a rule where senators are allowed unlimited time to state their case.  Some senators have gamed that into a way of raising the requirement of a simple majority into requiring a supermajority.

It sort of goes both ways.  Trump didn't have a senate supermajority and so he rarely got anything done, which is awesome for me because I didn't like most of what Trump was doing.  But the flip side is obviously now when some of the things Biden is trying to do I'd like to see done.

Maybe a supermajority is a good thing.  But if that's the case then I'd like to see maybe an amendment to the Constitution for that. 

But maybe the people should get the kind of government that they voted for.  In the last four years Trump would have gotten his Wall.  And during Biden's years he'll... you know, I don't really know what Biden wants exactly.  More episodes of Mattlock maybe?

The Capitol was near-universally condemned and dozens if not hundreds of arrests have occurred followed by charges and prosecutions. You gotta seek help for that bad case of TDS. It's over, dude. Biden's President, Trump's a private citizen who's been charged and is being prosecuted, Rudy's being sued by Dominion for $1.3 billion, the filibuster is knockin' on Death's door much to McConnell's chagrin... what else do you want, man? It's over.

I doubt the filibuster is going anywhere.  50/50 is just too slim to risk it.  Also it would rob democratics and republicans of this great excuse to get nothing done.

Even if it did, are you aware of the history of the filibuster?

I already started a "Why do you support Joe Biden" thread and it got pushed way down so this thread could be started with "I don't" removed as an option. On purpose or not, who knows, just interesting.


Though it's already started, dipshit is passing a bunch of executive orders that are terrible. One of many that is despicable is the transgender one for schools. Gotta let trans girls play on the girls teams, otherwise you just might lose your funding.

4 is debatable.  I'd like them to find a way to do it that doesn't bisect a native american city.
5,6 are good.  I think they're much needed for pandemic relief.
7 the 1776 Commission was a work of propaganda so good riddance.  "initiative to advance racial equity" is so vague that I can't judge it.
8,9,10 these seem like no brainers
11  I'm assuming this is the transgendered soccer team one?  I'd have to look into this more.  I don't like the idea of girls teams to accept transgendered boys.
12,13,14,15 seem fine
16,17 is vague.  I don't know what it means.
18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25 covid stuff, seems like good things to me.
26 I'm not so sure about this.  Sounds like virtue signalling.
27,28,29  These seems like good things too.

Not quite.  There's still a massive amount of legal troubles quickly descending on Trump. 

The impeachment trial.  And if that succeeds then the vote to permanently ban him from holding any government office.

Criminal liability for the insurrection.  This is still completely possible.

New York has several criminal investigations which Trump can't use his presidency to impede anymore.

Trump also appears to owe quite a bit more than he can pay for and his creditors are running from him like the plague.

If by some miracle he escapes unscathed from all of this he's talked about forming his own political party.  But it's great to wake up and not see his face plastered all over every news feed.  He's not the president.  He's just some asshole in Florida now.

So I've done a partial forensic analysis of this and here's what I can come up with to explain this.

I had a few stories about my children that I wanted to tell but the thing about stories of kids is that they largely fall under the category of "you had to be there" so I resist telling them.

I'll sum them up quickly.

Story #1.  One of my daughters was taking way too long to finish some scrambled eggs so I told her to just cram them all in her mouth and eat them slowly throughout the day because sometimes I forget that kids don't understand my sense of humor.  But this is exactly what she did.  So for 6 hours I didn't hear her speak and she looked like a chipmunk.

Story #2.  The backstory on this is long and complicated but I am now involved in a long term farting contest with my oldest daughter.  I think I'm accidently raising her to be very obnoxious.

There are elements I can't explain.  They may be typos or my impaired mind blending whatever show I was watching at the time.

I'm watching Biden's first press briefing.  It's so unpresidential.  I guess it's supposed to be daily now.  They're just asking her questions and she's answering them.  The hell is that about? 

Biden is supposed to do something ridiculous like surrendering North Dakota to Canada then the press asks the press secretary why in god's name he'd do that.  Then the press secretary is supposed to attack them as communists.  And why is there so much quiet?  Why isn't there a helicopter in the background?

This is not an America that I recognize.
