While under deep cover, I learned of Chechnya's workings to try and get Putin to invade Poland. I raced back to share as quickly as I could, but it seems the news has broken in the mainstream already. Undoubtedly, this is because the secret documents that I confiscated were found to be missing, a necessary risk.

The building codes are there, but from what I've been able to read it seems like they are often overlooked because they are expensive to follow.

I've performed deep reconnaissance at other dark corners of the internet and he was nowhere to be found

3,500 dead now.

I get the impression that these buildings are still in the process of collapsing.  They might have a situation where any building taller than a few stories is now unsafe to use.

There's that, and then there's the likelihood of more aftershocks still to come. I just looked on the USGS site and they've had 4 major earthquakes today listed at 6.0 or above.

This looks like nearly an entire city block, turned to rubble, and supposedly this was from before the second quake hit. This is insanely tragic.

Go squish that sunset picture horizontally and have a gander and what you see, it's really neat.

Kinda hard to see the important part right away. If I zoom in on the horizon, it looks like this in your picture:

Weird, huh?

If there are any FES members that would like to check it out, join the server and just listen and make up your own mind.
That's what I'm saying, though... I did join. And it left me wondering things. Things like these:
What's with the weird leveling system? Is it tied to how many times you post something? What's the point of it? Why is there a mod out there calling people derogatory names and then following it up with "uh, well, I have tourette's" as if that is an excuse? Why are new people being bombarded by mods demanding to know if you are FE or RE the moment they show up? Shouldn't that be something a person could opt into on their own?

I cant answer the leveling system, I find it weird myself.   As for the insults, unfortunately its just the nature of the community.  I am sure it happens here as well.   Each side insults the other to some extent.   As long as it doesn't cross the line, just deal with it.   Unfortunately the definition of 'crossing the line' can be different for everyone.   But its really difficult to root out the insults completely from both sides.   It is what it is.  Regarding the FE or RE, that is just for roles, so everyone can be assigned a role and if you do participate people can look at your profile and know where you stand without asking.
I think a near-universal definition of "crossing the line" should include a moderator claiming that Tourette's is causing them to say things like that. Don't you? And why should anyone need to look at my profile to see where I stand? Shouldn't one's arguments stand on their own merit? Are the people there so incapable of independent thought that the need to check to see if they are on the same FE/RE team as the person they are about to reply to? If not, then that mechanic doesn't really matter and might even be harmful to productive conversation.

You guys have fun with it. From what I saw already and what you're saying here it, sounds like my time already spent there was more than enough time for me.

Good luck, Wise. Glad you are OK. Seems like a very scary situation for a lot of people right now.

That Discord server is like a middle school hallway 2 days before summer vacation. Yikes.

Edit: What's with the weird leveling system? Is it tied to how many times you post something? Seems like a weird way to build in some sort of appeal to authority, on a server where that sort of fallacy should be quickly weeded out. There's a lot going on here, I've only scratched the very surface and like I said, I bailed already.

So those Chinese spy balloons... I'm not saying those were mine, and that I dressed them up to look like Chinese spy balloons just in case they got into some trouble, and I'm also not not saying that.

Debbies 18, 23, 24, and 29 have gone offline :'(

On the propaganda side though, things are going well. Jimmies have been rustled, pots stirred, just really great and fun stuff.

Edit to add: What the actual fuck, why isn't the crying emoji working in my time of need? I'M FUCKING MOURNING OVER HERE MY BEES ARE FUCKING DEAD. Why you do this to me, SMF?

Mmmm, maybe try the propaganda.
Well fine, I'll just set this swarm free to do as it will then and I'll get started propagandizing.

I've used advanced Artificial Intelligence to create a swarm of highly intelligent cybernetic balloon animals - all the cutest of animals, too, so as to be quite disarming.

Here is Reginald the balloon sloth:

A mated pair of balloon ostriches and their balloon baby named Sam, The Sham, and The Pharoah:

And I have 35 clones of this delightful balloon bee, named Debbies 16-51:

I'm a little confused, so let me just ask a clarifying question to be sure I focus my efforts where they are most needed and most helpful. Should my chief priority be in the propaganda and balloon animal direction, or should I be more focused on the intelligence side of things?

Proposals for new membership to be approved by majority vote or discussion.

Spacey, Sergeant at arms in charge of Creche security.
Boydsta, Minister for propaganda and balloon animals.
Crouton, Master of the night’s travails.
Slem, Chief investigator and library returns.
Jimmy the Crustacean, Light entertainment, and pest control.

Dispute1, lost & found.

I approve and enthusiastically vote yes to these appointments.
You just got yourself a FES-themed balloon hat that looks like the AE projection resting atop a turtle's shell

Edit: This is what AI thinks your hat looks like, so this is what your hat looks like

Oh I have a job to do! I will begin propagandizing right away

I think I have it, I am waiting to take a test (I ate breakfast and I need to wait 30 minutes or something). I took a test a few days ago and it was negative, and I thought I had a cold and a sinus infection, but my mom has also been sick and she just took another test and is positive. I guess we took the test too early to detect the virus.

I am much sicker feeling this time, but that's probably because I got a sinus infection. I never had one of those before and I do not recommend it! So disgusting.
Good luck. Hopefully it goes quick. The latest variant that's been making the rounds seems to be doing a great job of getting people that had been avoiding it until now.

I second Crouton's sentiment 100%, this is very much a thing that doesn't matter when there are other things that need your attention. Good luck to you and your family.

Lots of oldies coming back, by the looks of things. I wonder what that's all about?

Now we just need that guy Daniel to spare 2 minutes of his life to say g'day

I don't think he's ever coming back. He may not even be a Flat Earther anymore...A book review by a Daniel Shenton, from 'The Inquisitive Biologist":

BOOK REVIEW – WEIRD EARTH: DEBUNKING STRANGE IDEAS ABOUT OUR PLANET

In Weird Earth, Prothero debunks conspiracy theories and pseudoscience relating to our planet, making for an entertaining slaying of geological fringe ideas.

Appropriately, he starts with the currently best-known geological pseudoscience: flat-earthism, the idea that the earth is a flat disc rather than a globe.

I, personally, cannot disagree with anything he writes here and feel his frustration and pain while wading through this morass of scientific illiteracy, which is often brandished with a sense of pride and defiance.

Well damn, the reptilians finally got him. This is sad news, to be sure.

If you go back and check very carefully, a gazebo has been presently either explicitly or implicitly in every game Slem has played. I went back and looked. It's crazy. Some of the games you have to look REALLY carefully though.

Let's take a step back here. Maybe we're not using phrases the same way. When I think of "cult of personality," I am thinking of it exactly the way it's written on the Wikipedia page for the topic at hand:
Quote from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_of_personality
A cult of personality, or a cult of the leader, is the result of an effort which is made to create an idealized and heroic image of a leader by a government, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.

DataOverFlow, when you say this:
Flat earth depends on cult of personality

...I disagree. I challenge you to back up your assertion that FE depends on a cult of personality, because based on what I understand "cult of personality" to mean, I don't think the modern FE movement makes any effort or puts any thought into creat[ing] an idealized and heroic image of a leader by a government, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.

57
How are you going to ask "Who has done the most to add credibility to flat earth" and then immediately after go on to say "Flat earth depends on cult of personality"? You literally asked for a personality to be named. That seems like a conclusion you already decided on, and then tried to railroad a thread into. I don't really see a case to be made about FE depending on a cult of personality. The personalities named earlier aren't even referenced all that often here, and some of the models our most active FE proponents advocate for definitely diverge from Rowbotham wildly.

I'm taking the cold. I was born in the cold. Molded by it. I didn't feel warmth until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but burning!
