Technology, Science & Alt Science / Re: Water is Wet | Change My Mind
« on: June 11, 2019, 01:42:27 AM »
Water is dry, but anything it touches, it wets. Wet is the application of water.

If you're after a challenge, globetard, answer this:

How many holes does a drinking straw have?

1 hole

According to the bible, god killed approximately 2.8 Million people and satan/the devil killed 2
In fairness that's at least partly because the book's about God. In Harry Potter, Harry killed one person while Hitler killed no one, so Harry Potter's worse than Hitler.
If Satan published his biography I'm sure there'll be plenty in there that didn't make it into the Bible.

So in a set of books about the xtian god, god is the bigger serial killing mass murderer by several orders of magnitude than the one who is supposed to be the bad guy?

"Crime in Turkey is combated by the Turkish police and other agencies. Since the 1990s, overall crime in Turkey has been rising. As of 2014, Turkey has seen a 400% rise in drug-related crimes, theft and homicide. In 1994, the number of arrested prisoners was recorded as 38,931; 20 years later, as of the beginning of October 2014, the number of prisoners has reached 152,335. According to the data provided by the Ministry of Justice, the crime rate is growing with each passing day."

So what happened to the other 335 days of the year?

The roots of globularism trace to the Pythagorean number cult. They believed the earth, like the counter-earth and other objects in the heavens, was a sphere as the sphere was their perfect shape.

It's not that the sphere is their perfect shape, a sphere is the perfect shape in terms of efficiency of entropy.

Don't make out I know nothing about rocket engines while pretending that you do.

I only need to know one thing.
That one thing is as clear as can be.
Rockets can not work in extreme low pressure, never mind fictional space.l
As long as you claim things like "rockets can not work in extreme low pressure" I'll claim that you "know nothing about rocket engines".

Get me Steve!

Here from someone ;D that knows far more about calculating the thrust of a rocket engine that you ever will:

How do you like them apples ;)?

Look at the (pe - po)Ae term where:
pe is the exhaust pressure at the end of the bell,
po is the outside pressure and
Ae is the area of the exit from the bell.
From that, it is obvious that the thrust is highest in a near vacuum where po approaches zero.

Oops, I forgot that you don't believe in sums so forget all that.
But if you are not prepared to do a few sums it is obvious that you "know nothing about rocket engines".

End of story!
I see all the thrust coming out of the rocket against the?....atmosphere. It can't be against nothing.....unless you can show me internally in that rocket where the opposite reaction is to the action from that nozzle.

Come on...once and for all show me. Let's see you point to the places where this reaction to action takes place.

Show me where this push occurs to make that rocket go high into the sky without using the atmosphere as a resistance, externally.

I see you're doing a piss poor job of channelling Papa Legba

The earliest reliably documented mention of the spherical Earth concept dates from around the 6th century BC when it appeared in ancient Greek philosophy. It was 300 odd years later that Eratosthenes went a step further in the 3rd century BC and fairly accurately calculated its circumference.

Earth magically blocks the ua.
All objects in the earths shaodw feel the ua indirectly.
Requiring the edge of earth to be indestructable from the shear force.

That explains earth quakes. The earth is fracturing under the force, and one day will break into a million pieces.

I thought it was the great god Umm that would eat us all up at the end of days, and it was because we all continually say his name that we delay that day.

Scepti, did you know that if a human being was exposed to the vacuum of space without the use of protective clothing, it would take quite some time for them to freeze. Do you know why?

I think there's a clip where Bob admits to another flerfer the rotation results and says if they release the results its not going to be very good for FE. There's also a clip where Jism is left stunned that his lights and holes experiment confirms curvature.

Scepti, in the 1820's it was people such as yourself that believed that travelling on a train at speeds over 20mph would cause men to asphyxiate and women to disintegrate. Where is the similarity to you? Some people just have no ability to to tie existing data, experimentation and experience together into a cohesive knowledge base on which to build on. You are intentionally and wilfully uneducated to the point that anything new from a scientific or technical point of view seems like either magic or fakery.

Jism and Bob painted themselves into a corner recently when they proved both rotation and curvature of the earth exist. They both then proceeded to spin a web of lies about their experiments especially Jism, since his whole livelihood depends on his YouTube subscriber base. They're both like the 80's televangelists who don't believe their own schtick and do it just for the money.

You want us to prove a negative?
Are you trying your hardest to appear clever?

Is the ISS up there, or is it not?

There's something flying around up there. I've seen it pass over once. I don't know what it is.

Whilst you may not know what it is, do you think it's a natural phenomena or man made and what justification do you have for your beliefs about it?

No, drone. There is one watching through your window RIGHT NOW. But when you look, it darts slightly out of view.

Bullshit, I know for a fact they use SEP fields.

Scepti, it's because these people are capable of doing maths and engineering a whole lot better than you. Nothing Elon, et all, has done has been "sudden" as you try to make it out to be. The process of learning and experimentation to get the Tesla car into space has been about 4 thousand years in the make.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: What about the scientific community?
« on: February 03, 2019, 02:59:02 PM »
So why should we be expected to be scientists?
It's just as well then that flat-earthers aren't:
  • Designing aircraft.
  • Designing automobiles.
  • Designing large buildings.
  • Designing large bridges.
  • Planning and directing the construction is long tunnels.
  • Planning and navigating international flights.

The Wright Brothers were Zetetists.

"Science theory held us up for years. When we threw out all science, started from experiment and experience, then we invented the airplane." -- The Wright Brothers (source)

In fact, most inventions and pharmaceuticals were created from experiment to experience.

The Wright Brothers were pioneers of powered flight. They were inspired by and copied their wing designs from Otto Lilienthal who was already successful flying his gliders.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Is fire alive?

There is a life definition of life according to Father of humanbeings, Adam.

After Kabyl killed the Habyl, after Adam has learned, says its to Eva:

"Habyl is dead".

Eva asks:

"What is dying?"

Adam replies:

"He is not eating, not talking, *not breathing anymore" (I'm not sure if maybe walking, may be breathing)

Then Eva cries.

This is meanwhile the first crying of human beings. Inother say, after Habyl dies, Adam was not cried, but after his mother has learned, she has cried.

There is a preverb in Turkey: "if one cries, only his/her mother feels his/her pain truly".

Anyways.

According to these definition, life is at least

a) eating
b) talking
c) breathening

If one of these exists, so there is a life here. If any of them are not exist so no life.

But I'm not sure of breath. I've searched for source but could not found. It has to be somewhere in any religinal texts.

I'm sure Turkey has some good tertiary educational institutions, we know it has the internet, there have even been a few Turkish Nobel prize winners, so why would anyone that is not an idiot look to religious texts for a definition of life? Oh wait, your post makes sense now.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Bad Evidence
« on: August 10, 2018, 10:28:17 PM »
I would quietly back out of the cellphone GPS argument.
If you have network coverage your phone can work out it's position using AGPS. No need for satellites.
How your actual GPS device can give you a position (including altitude) outside range of cell reception is more of a challenge to satellite non believers.
How can I get internet on a plane half way across the Atlantic is another.
The ISS is better example still, as you don't need a phone or a plane ticket!
Just a diagram of where it will be and when, and a clear night sky.
I invite flat earther to explain how air Force personnel are able to pilot drones from across an ocean. Or how cruise missiles find their targets.

You should also very quietly back out of the GPS satellites argument.

You might just find yourself unable to explain the orbital Sagnac effect.

It's easy, just discount anything you have to say.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: What about the scientific community?
« on: August 10, 2018, 10:01:16 PM »
To me it's irrelevant. FE doesn't claim to be scientific. It's more of a philosophical question. Does the Earth look flat? Yes. So the immediate answer of the empiricist must be that it is. So the question becomes, is there enough evidence that proves that the Earth is a whirling globe? What does and does not constitute evidence? Can supposed proofs that the Earth is round be adequately countered in a Flat Earth context? These are philosophical considerations, not scientific ones.

And of course this is all besides the fact that the core of FET is zeteticism, which as interpreted by the FE community is an alternative to science. So why should we be expected to be scientists?

The shape of the earth is a scientific question, not a philosophical one. zeteticism as an alternative to science works about the same way as string is an alternative to copper wire for electrical use.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Do you believe in the soul?
« on: December 09, 2017, 12:16:29 AM »
There have been many experiments trying to prove the soul. Supposedly the body is slightly lighter directly after death. This was the supposed weight of the soul. There have been other experiments performed as well.

However, I don't think science will be able to prove the soul as it could never prove things in the 4th 5th 6th etc dimensions. These things are simply out of our pay grade as a 3 dimensional creature. We will only know so much.

I think the soul exist outside our 3rd dimensional existence. We only get random biproducts of it.

One thing I can say science has proven, is we are certainly more than the sum of our parts. Take that for what it is.

You've made a claim about extra dimensions, so now prove extra dimensions before you can start talking about things existing in them.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Scientific method
« on: November 17, 2017, 02:00:11 AM »
I would like to present for inclusion into the debate on the scientific method how people ignore or disregard that there may be payola involved with the peer review process, one of the pillars of that method.

Once an article is published in a journal, the author can contact associates known to read the journals and offer a nice gift along with a cheat sheet for how the experiment was conducted so it can be duplicated.

You know, at the same time you make a call there is a knock on their door delivering a vacation, a new set of tires, some fine jewelry...you get the drift.

So true believers of the scientific method really think these payouts to get similar results aren't made?

This will mean, by the way, that sceptimatic's methodology is superior to that of the scientific method.

When submitting works for scientific peer review it is customary to include exactly how the experiments were conducted, no cheat sheets necessary.
The process of getting your work published is the method of peer review, the invitation to tear down the body of work goes out to the entire scientific community, not just a select group of peers, so the publishing scientist would needs pockets deeper than the combined wealth of the entire world to pay off everyone. Even you or scepti are free to correspond with the publications and flex your own scientific prowess to disprove a scientific paper, you just have to do it on equal terms as your own dissertations are also subject to formal scientific analysis and refutations.

Here is a short list of scientific journals that would love your input, be sure to send us links to your refutations so we can marvel at your insights.

Matter. In the beginning there was no matter. Only energy.

The first law of thermodynamics makes this obvious.

At t=0 or before, there was no law of thermodynamics.

Obviously mountains exist. Nice counter point.
Ever been to space?  ::)

By your logic, neither have you therefore you don't get a say in the shape either. You best observational opinion would then have to be "I don't know what shape the earth is, round or flat"
