Flat Earth General / Interesting things with FE & the internet
« on: January 17, 2016, 09:51:07 AM »
Maybe this is new maybe it's not, anyway thought I would share...

Flat Earth interest seems to be exploding (google trends)

http://prntscr.com/9raccl

Doing a search for "flat earth" with quotes on WikiLeaks fails (this is not temporary, I've been attempting this for several months). Without quotes of course returns all kinds of docs including either flat or earth.

http://prntscr.com/9raeei

Other terms work just fine using quotes

http://prntscr.com/9raia1

If you search for flat earth society on G, you will come across another website almost identical to this one that comes up first.  Looked for this in announcements, searched this site for tfes.org, checked whois, looked at usernames, nothing really matches up.  Maybe I missed something, if not what is this about?

If you search nasa.gov using google and flat earth for only pdf docs you can see some interesting papers.  If you open a pdf, and can't find that term it seems they've just obfuscated either flat or earth.

"flat earth" site:nasa.gov type:pdf

If you search YT for flat earth with quotes and limit the results to the *last week*, and the video to be longer than 20 mins, you come up with 1050 results.

Cool that's 1 example, doesn't seem worth such a big lie? Also if I go work for NASA, will they tell me the earth is actually flat? And would I actually be doing nothing there like you said?

From my research:

RET is actually just a strand in a web.  Only persons at the capstone are aware of the truth, so everyone you would meet genuinely believes they are a part of space exploration. You would have a real job to do.  For example, if you were an aerodynamics specialist, how many lifetimes could you spend refining and improving systems using computer models, playing with new materials and testing parts on legitimate air flights? What does your job have to do with actually seeing the shape of the earth? How many other jobs are like yours?

Quote
Yet countless people still carry on trying to prove or disprove FE or RE, with no one, and I literally mean NO ONE saying WHY people would lie if the earth were flat or how it would benefit anyone doing so. And who is this group of people calling the shots?

As said before: money, power, control are some of the direct ones but from my research there are many other reasons.  I would go into them but much of it is speculation.  How could it be otherwise, if in fact, true knowledge has been suppressed for hundreds of years?
What is this "research" you keep referring to?

How can anyone believe the countries of the world could all work together on this when they can't even agree on what to do with the Middle East?

Middle east is another animal. This is pure speculation:

CaptainMagpie, You are now in charge of all US operations. You've been inducted into the group and groomed from a very young age and have proven yourself in the most rigorous tests. You are loyal to the cause, and you've also been told that what you are doing is really a part of some grander purpose so you feel good about it.  You also have a salary of $500 million a year.  Are you smart enough to work with your counterparts in other countries to continue?  I think so.

I followed the link to the NYT article and looked at the first animation of the globe.  Can someone please explain the following to me:

Why does the shadow covering the earth go in two different directions when the image of earth is stationary?

Not seeing two different directions.  the image that comes up shows a day on what looks to be summer in the Northern hempisphere as the Arctic remains lit.  The image is posted with geographical North up but the Earth is tilted in relation to the Sun so the shadow is also tilted.

Even with the earths tilt, the way the shadows rise and fall appear very odd to me assuming a spherical rotation of the earth.

Quote
Where is the moon passing by?

Why would we see the Moon?  The image is just of the Earth and the satellite used is far closer than the Moon.

Correct

Quote
Why do the cloud formations repeat on the 'two different days'?

Looks like one day to me.

OK

Quote
Why is the suns reflection in the earth so massive?

Looks like a partial lens reflection

Why does the sun reflection appear to do a U shape movement across the earth?

still looks like a partial lens reflection to me.  May have to do with the Earth's tilt

Very odd.  If the sun were moving in the way it appears, that would explain how the shadows rise and fall, but it would seem that can't be the case if the land masses are not moving.

Why is there a break in the frame, missing photos, missing parts of the animation?

Where?

Its there. Hard to see but we'll just chalk that one up to an error of some kind

Quote
Why does the edge of the earth contain a lingering perfect shadow where there should be none?

what do you mean?

Look at the lower left corner of the earth.  There is a perfect black outline.

Quote
If this is a composite, why can't they just take a real video?

the site says it takes a pic every 10 minutes.  Looks like the satellite is not designed for video.

My point here is just the fact they spend tons of money to launch these satellites into orbit just to take composite images of a full earth view?

Why do they claim they can take a photo of the earth from only 22,000 miles away when nasa says it has to be 10x that far?

When and where did NASA make that claim?

Here you go: http://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/noaas-dscovr-to-provide-epic-views-of-earth/#.Vnl2yb9XGiQ

Why does Neil Degrasse Tyson say the earth is an oblate spheroid, or pear shaped when I see images like this constantly from all the space institutions that show a PERFECT circle.

The difference between a perfect circle and the oblate spheroid of reality is less than 1%.  It is not something you typically see with the naked eye but it can be measured.

I don't think it's something I've ever seen

Sorry I just don't get it.

The Lounge / Hello FES
« on: December 14, 2015, 08:18:34 PM »
New here, (not really been lurking for awhile).  Been researching this theory for quite some time now.  FET popped up many times over the years, but I immediately dismissed it 'the most ridiculous thing' and would not even give it a second of consideration.  One day I decided to watch some video to see what it was about.  The first 'proof' was so compelling, I had to research it and that led to more questions which led to more research and so on until my belief is now that whatever the earth is, it can not be a spinning ball.

The problem I've noticed here is that since we've been told all these lies, and have limited resources for testing its hard to say what the earth is exactly. We could be in a pond with multiple 'earths' just like ours outside Antarctica, or we could be under a dome or the truth could be something not even considered.

And Jrowe, your DET is interesting but I think its a long shot.

Anyway,  I'm exploring some methods that may allow an amateur to see the earth for what it really is or at least narrow down the possibilities.  That what I hope to contribute sooner or later.
