Flat Earth Q&A / Re: For Better Cohabitation With Noobs

Well, short of shutting down FES.org, we can't get rid of them.  What other options do we have?   ;D

Joey: We're really a misunderstood bunch.  You'll get to understand pretty soon... There's a good core group who truly believes in a flat earth, but they're hard to pinpoint and nail down.  Most of the population here consists of RE'ers, whether they argue for FE or RE.

Some people are a little uppity about grammar, but not quite so much as this topic would suggest.  I think some members get sick of trolls showing up every few hours.  I hope you won't take it personally.  If you're sincere, we have great debates, fun discussions, and we have Engy, Gayer and Dann.  The fun never stops.   :-*

PS, I'm a little bit of a ghost around here.  I see more than I'm seen.   ;D

Come on, lay off the guy.  At least he didn't come in here spouting obscenities and barely intelligible phrases to the affect of "all you FES.org members are of sub-par intelligence and should go fornicate with yourselves."

As for myself, I'd like to welcome you, joey.  Read the FAQ, and don't be afraid to ask questions.  Just be prepared to expand your understandings and open your mind.   :-*

I just had champagne for the first time last night (yeah yeah, 24 y/o without having tried champagne... I just thought it would taste like regular wine, so I didn't bother!).  Man, it was delicious!    ;D

Why did I post a second pic?  I'll tell you why!   :-*

In 6 pages of google results for the search {"your retarted" tshirt} I got TWO TSHIRT HITS.  (Well, there was also one expired ebay hit that had been taken down, and another on bizrate which had been taken down...)  All the rest were actual people actually using this actual phrase in actual blogs and actual forums.  It's actually amazing that I'm randomly surprised by the stupidity of random people on the internet still...

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Thermodynamics and the Moon Spotlight, a contradiction
« on: December 21, 2007, 12:18:52 AM »
Actually, seeing as how light is nothing more than reflected light from the Sun... it is feasible it would have minute amounts of radiant energy left I suppose, however - it is still reflected light from a distant source being reflected in a manner which diffuses it quite a bit before it ever even gets here. That combined with our atmosphere... the moon is merely reflecting light that can't be registered by simple skin sensation as generating heat.

The moon doesn't project light... it's just a big reflector in the sky as far as we're concerned.

Are you an FEer?  I thought current FE thought was that the moon emitted the light, as opposed to reflecting it?

The stars move back and fourth Northward and Southward over the course of the year just as the sun does.

The mechanism is unknown.

...And are you too stupid to IMAGINE something?  Come on, Tom, bullshit is your THING!   :-*

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Suspension Bridges...?
« on: December 20, 2007, 11:27:47 PM »
the bridge-builders are in on the conspiracy and just made the 36mm figure up.  or, the people that reported it just made it up as part of the conspiracy.  those guys - they are really on top of things.

I want one of the "big guys" to answer this one.  Come on, there's supposed to be nearly NO ONE in on this conspiracy!  Now, we have one man supposedly creating all the GPS user systems in the world, three guys at NASA creating many thousands of pictures (if not millions)... If we need a separate guy for every little incident like this one, that's going to add up!

Flat Earth Debate / Suspension Bridges...?

Quote
Each tower consists of a pair of hollow vertical concrete columns, each 155.5 metres (510 ft) tall and tapering from 6 metres (20 ft) square at the base to 4.5 metres (14.8 ft) x 4.75 metres (15.6 ft) at the top. The bridge is designed to tolerate constant motion and bends more than 3 metres (10 ft) in winds of 80 miles per hour (129 km/h). The towers, although both vertical, are not parallel, being 36 millimetres (1.4 in) further apart at the top than the bottom as a result of the curvature of the earth.[1]

Just a question...

With the incredible weight and torque and everything, wouldn't it be an undue amount of stress to put on the structure, just to perpetuate the "round earth myth?"

They say nicotine is more addictive than heroin.*

*Disclaimer: I have absolutely no proof whatsoever to support this outrageous claim*

Well, I defy ANYone to produce one heroin/nicotine addict that says, "Yeah, heroin was bad, but those damn cigs!  Worst drug in the world!"

-.-

(Future MIL actually made above outrageous claim...)

20
Four reasons? Well, here they are:

1. It Looks Flat Close Up
Only a fool would not trust his own senses. Unless you see the curvature, but that's an optical illusion, so it's ok not to trust your eyes as long as this site tells you to.
2. Rowbotham Said So
Only a retarded imbecile would question Rowbotham, who has been proved by far the most intelligent and correct person ever. Even contemplating the possibility that he could be wrong is simply madness.
3. The Governments of the world must surely be lying to us about something
That's how governments work, right? It's always lies, deceipt, keeping the truth from the public. On that basis, if they say and "prove" the Earth is round it simply must be flat. The biggest mistake is to question why they would, what would they have to gain? The answer is nothing, they lie to us because that is what they do all the time.
4. The Shadow object, the antimoon and Tom Bishop
Simply thinking about these object shows they must exist because they make so much sense! And it would be stupid and mad to question and argue with the source of all light on Earth, Tom Bishop. If you make him angry, he may close his cheeks and plunge the world into eternal night!

There are many more! Think about it people! The Earth just has to be flat!

LMFAO...

This reminds me of....

If you can't see what I'm saying, then you are obviously (1) oblivious to the truth or (2) just plain stupid.  I hope for your sake it's the former.

Actually, in Tom's case, it's a mixture of the two... :-\

BTW, even FE'ers admit that the FAQ is a bit out of date... :-*
