Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Super long rope
« on: October 06, 2007, 03:18:15 PM »
Your thought experiment is a good one.  And would probably actually work given enough time, money, and ingenuity.  (Of course you could just shoot a large kinetic, ballistic slug from a cannon lined up over the equator, out of a long rifled barrel, and then go find where it lands.  If it lands somewhere on the equator, SE.  If it lands instead in South Africa, then FE.  Yes I'm exaggerating the realistic distance for illustrative purposes.)

Or you can just fire something that overcomes the escape velocity (11,200m/s or 11.2km/s on Earth). The projectile breaks the gravitational field and freely orbits.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Probably a newb question but

No question is a newb question. Any question is welcome.

And that's a good question.

Yep. Magnetism produces gravitation. When two magnets attract they are "gravitating" towards each other.

Every time he posts something, I have to laugh. Such a cute, yet autistic, guy.  He doesn't seem think before he posts, yet he tries to cover his mistake with intelligent words and coherent structures to make you think he really knows what hes talking about.  As you can see, whenever there is a FE'er or a RE'er making an argument, he puts up something not only contradicts himself, but exposes his true intention.  He's just a troll, because no matter how hard and how clever you put in your claims, he will counter them with something random which, in the case, is absurd and outrageous.

However, the intensity of the arguments in this website will drop if he doesn't exist here. This website needs Tom Bishop to keep up its nonsense which, as demonstrated in various threads, attracts both newcomers and veterans to come and make more intelligent or ranting statements to attack him. Whenever you see him contradicting your claims, you would think, "Wow, he really did put it straight up". Yet, as you carefully read through his answers, you will see that none of the points in them make any sense to the main argument, despite the fact that he did put it in a really coherent-looking format. And shortly after that, you will feel the urge to rant him more. That, I believe, is his intention: to prolong the debate. And he probably laughs on his couch as he sees you making more powerful, yet (to him) useless criticisms because he basically doesn't seem to care. He will just continue to bring up more senseless, baseless, and meaningless claims to heat things up more.

Although I never like Tom Bishop (probably forever), he does keep the forums alive and well-heated.

And I wage $10,000 that he believes the Earth is spherical.

What do you say Tom, wanna do this experiment together?

He probably don't have time for that because he will just waste the next 12 hours of his life copying/pasting things off the internet to counter your claims, which, I believe, is self-contradicting.

Because FE'ers think Neil Armstrong was an Hollywood actor.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Why is Engy afraid?

That's ok.  I wouldn't expect you to understand, as you still think gravity is a force.  Poor TomG...

Gravity is a force. Period.

Why should I need to verify my sources if you don't need to verify your claims?

At least I have sources to back up my claims.

And again.

And where's/what's the sources? More copy/paste?

How does that static photograph show whether the ship was sinking, or whether its hull was simply covered up as it receded?

The ship is never sinking. When a ship is at the horizon its lower part is invisible due to Earth's curvature.

By the way, that photo really helps the RE case.

Exactly.  And the Round Earth doesn't accelerate upwards.  So what's your point?  ???

My point is gravity can be proven.

Potentiall, I'm curious why you use a generated mosaic as your signature.

Because I just drew that?

Space = cold. When water gets to the edge the formula goes like this. Water + Cold = Ice.

And how do you know the space is cold?

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Question...
« on: October 03, 2007, 09:01:41 PM »
If a ball is thrown upward, it travels upward at the speed of the Earth at the time thrown plus the speed you threw it.  However, because the Earth is accelerating, it catches up to it.

As soon as the ball leaves your hand, gravity acts on it immediately, decreasing its speed as gravity pulls it down.

Wait, gravity doesn't exist on the Flat Earth.  :o
