Flat Earth General / The number of fish-eye lenses is too damned high
« on: August 24, 2020, 11:15:28 PM »
Why does every god damn amateur rocket / balloon video on youtube use a fish eye lens?

We get it, you want the earth to be round. It's tiring how much confirmation bias round-earthers have.

Flat Earth General / Speaking of global conspiracy
« on: August 24, 2020, 11:09:44 PM »
Isn't it funny how Israel controls what's on the front page of reddit?

Odd that Facebook pushes Russian state propaganda...

Why does TikTok have China's fingerprint on everything?

The NSA is selling NordVPN to everybody watching youtube

And here on the FES forums we see the same questions everyday from the same new users of the week.

Surely it's impossible for any giant conspiracies to exist. Surely someone would say. Surely we would know - right?

Isn't it odd how the space club is a millionaires only club?

Round earthers say you can literally fall over the edge of the planet forever. Just *oops* I fell over and now I'm ORBITTING forever. So easy the Chinese are doing it from their discount factories but only millionaires have permission to go to space.

Isn't that funny. Have any of you ever been asked to be a millionaire? It's kind of an insiders club. No matter how many times I've tripped over things I've never found myself in orbit. Just like I've never been asked to be a millionaire - and never will.

Trust me, if the Chinese could sell you an orbital package they would. It's all smoke and mirrors my friends. You aren't invited to the party.

Flat Earth Debate / Data: Is RET consistent with science?
« on: November 15, 2016, 05:37:31 PM »
Let's find out what the numbers, and whether RE'ers are serious about science.

Flat Earth Debate / RET keeps moving Australia on the map, why?
« on: October 16, 2016, 05:07:37 PM »
Every few years, RET keeps changing the position of Australia on their map. 600 feet this way, a couple miles this way, sometimes moving it hundreds of miles - just to try to keep it accurate with the round earth theory.

Their reason: it's floating away.

Aside from the absurdity of a giant mass of silicates, iron, and other heavy metals floating across the oceans - don't you RE'ers get concerned that your maps are never accurate?

FET has no such inconsistencies.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Here's a fun thought.
« on: August 30, 2008, 04:43:01 PM »
Assuming a universe that will collapse in on itself, and repeat a big bang and collapse over and over...

All matter exists as a singularity. There is no way to differentiate between matter, as all matter is identical in form, energy and position.

When the big bang happened, there must have been a mathematical construct to define which bit of matter blew in what direction. Whether it was a perfectly even distribution, or perhaps something reminiscent of fractals.

This leads us to a couple fun thoughts:
1. Did I live my life, exactly as I am now, an infinite amount of times in the past, and doomed to live it an infinite amount of times in the future?
2. If we could see the whole of the universe, is there a pattern? Ie, are there several other mes with identical lives in far distant galaxies that are identical to our own?
3. Is my existence a mathematical tautology, and completely intrinsic to the universe's existence?

The Lounge / Going to a LANparty?

Hosting a LANparty?
You should probably make a business of your $57 weekly profit, start with a really cool logo, that's the most important part.

The Lounge / Nature: proof the world is flat.
« on: August 24, 2008, 11:05:49 PM »
Nature has many many patterns. The earth will follow natures patterns.

Look around you, what do you see?
Flat-screen tv's
Glass windows

Everything is flat, because that is the natural form for matter to take. Sure you may see a ball, but a rubber ball is made out of synthetic materials, synthetic = manmade. The earth is not manmade.

The Lounge / No such thing as infinity
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:28:29 PM »
Assume a line of length x where x is a finite number greater than 0.
Divide it into an infinite amount of segments of equal length.

What is the length of each segment?

The total line length is the segment length * the number of segments. What is the total line length?
0 = length * count = 0 * infinity

Since a finite number greater than 0 can never be 0, there is no such thing as infinity.

Flat Earth Debate / Planes and treadmills prove FE
« on: August 19, 2008, 08:41:24 PM »
Lets assume a giant treadmill.
On this treadmill is a plane trying to take off. As the plane accelerates, the treadmill increases its speed. Once the speed reaches approx 80 mph, the plane lifts off.

This could not happen on RE, QED.
Another victory for FE!!!

Players that do not play in character, or who violate the sacred laws of player knowledge will not journey far. I am quite eager to kill you, all deaths are final.

How die rolling works: When you "roll" a die, you pick a valid number. I will have a random mapping so cheating is not possible. Typical dice rolling will go something like:
DM: Please roll 2d8
Behind the scenes randomizes a mapping such as: 1->7, 2->3, 3->8, 4->4, 5->2, 6->1, 7->5, 8->6.
You: 8 and 3
Behind the scenes the DM uses 6 and 8 instead.
If you do not know what 2d8 means, please ask the closest nerd.

I will ask you to roll a stat sometimes, something like, "roll your strength". If you have a strength of 6, this means 1d6. Initiative rolls are agility rolls.

Since people are bound to be afk, players that do not take their turn in a reasonable timeframe will give the DM power to chose their actions, these will certainly be death from time to time.

I will say "Player action" when it is time to tell me what you do. You are allowed one post. Feel free to modify it, but I will take your action at the time I read it. If you post a second action, you will likely die.

You are all humans with 10hp. All you mages have 2mp.
I expect you all to manage your stats yourself. If I catch you cheating, you will die.

Your home country of Erwing has been invaded. As you hear news of the invasion, half of the country has already fallen. The local magistrate has sent out an order, "To all peoples, abandon all and flee north."

Many have begun to leave, taking little. One man, a local silversmith, rallies others to stay. The silversmith Tulom, finds little success. Amid thousands of fleeing peasants, only 12 souls will stay.

I would say 12 brave souls, but none knew what truly was coming; if they had, none would stay.

It was only 2 days before smoke was seen in the distance. Something was coming. Within hours, you could hear drums. By nightfall, you could hear shouting. The 13 stood ready, staring at the treeline about 5 minutes (as distance is measured by your people in walking time) west.

Just as you start to notice motion in the trees, you realize there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of small manlike creatures breaching the treeline and stepping onto your home soil.

Tulom drops his mace, and runs.

In class, I teach my students to NEVER become republican.
We don't need any more of their fundamental christian nonsense. Spouting stories of Jesus, while selling assault rifles to kids...

I had one kid try to tell me it was ok to be republican, obviously regurgitating all the nonsense his parents taught him Took me 3 seconds to logically defeat him and have him in tears. What an idiot.

Flat Earth Debate / In 1969, buttoning your clothes made them airtight.
« on: August 12, 2008, 05:36:36 PM »
Back when people were buying "atomic corn" (corn with atoms inside) for 10 times the price of normal corn, NASA "landed" on the moon.

This 384,403 km journey straight up ::) resulted in the internationally climactic moments of people walking on the moon. You'll notice, they had to wear super special suits to survive the moons surface. My favorite feature being the airtight buttoning technology.

Did they really expect people to be stupid enough to believe this crap?
(That's redundant)

Flat Earth Q&A / The earth is flat
« on: August 10, 2008, 10:55:47 PM »
I'm sorry RE'ers, but in light of all the wonderful evidence recently presented, it's time to conclude this mess.
Flat Earth has provided sufficient theory and has debunked ALL RE claims.

Winner: FE

Thanks for trying RE, maybe with the LHC you'll get some actual evidence.

Flat Earth Debate / A few questions
« on: August 10, 2008, 10:32:45 PM »
Feel free to post when you can answer 'yes' to all these questions.

1. Have you read the FAQ?
2. All of it?
3. Do you search prior to posting?
4. Can you write an English sentence that others can understand?
5. Are you comfortable with basic arithmetic?
6. Are you comfortable with basic physics?
7. Do you understand what a frame of reference is?
8. Is gravitation and acceleration indistinguishable to you?
9. Have you lurked here longer than 5 minutes?
10. You understand that I will IP ban you if you break the rules? This means you will no longer be able to use your internet since your IP has been banned.

Software Developers. Why does modern society necessitate their existence? The economy was just fine before their craft was born, and it'll be just fine after it's all outsourced.

« on: August 09, 2008, 07:17:37 PM »
You'd think being to the moon would be an important event. So important, the original recordings of it were probably just lent to a friend who hasn't returned them yet.... right?
Where could they be?
