Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Trinity of FE Proof
« on: August 13, 2007, 02:30:30 PM »
hmmmmm... In my own humblest of humble opinions: God isn't actually real... Well I can't really say that for certain but from the evidence I've seen and read and heard etc etc. I haven't been lead to believe that there is indeed any god.

Also; I'm always confused as to why people debate about "God" as opposed to "a god" or "gods". There's no real reason why people (and yes, I do this too) should jump to the conclusion that, if there is indeed a god, then it's gonna be the christian god and not the Hindu gods or Allah or Yaweh or anything like that... After all, as religions go christianity's fairly new right?

Also, on the subject of Narcberry: obvious troll is obvious.
(nobody ACTUALLY believes women are inferior anymore... well... nobody worth listening to.)

That's because there is no good FE response. They can't explain it so they're ignoring the thread.

Flat Earth Q&A / Night Sky
« on: April 06, 2007, 06:37:30 AM »
How come In the southern hemisphere the night sky can look like this:

And on some nights you can even read by the starlight.

But in the northern hemisphere the sky looks like this:

(sorry, couldn't find one without the constellations.)

This is explained in the round earth theory because our galaxy, the milky way looks something like this:

And the southern hemisphere is looking into the middle where there are more stars and the northern hemisphere is looking towards the edge.

I'm curious as to how the flat earth idea explains this.

Go.

you guys can't be believing this guy is actually serious? i mean, nobody actually believes that women are inferior anymore.

Also "duuuuh" disproved all of his "proofs" and he's just not listening to people when they prove him wrong...

It's all a rather entertaining read really...

duuh has disproved nothing. His ignorance only derails this thread, if you subscribe to his ideas than you, too, do not understand the theories in question here.

Read his first few posts and read your answers to them. Anybody with an open mind and a basic understanding of natural sciences can work out he's right and you don't know what's goin' on

Flat Earth Debate / Re: The earth is flat, end of the debate

Are you using the Bible as factual support? Surely you can't be that dumb.

Ignore the comment by the last poster. He is just a troll. However, do not mock the Bible under any circumstances EVER. You would be wise to get a copy of the holy book and study it. Come back when you are done.

Done... That kinda sucked really... first off Moses claimed some divine slab of rock told us not to kill anybody, then god killed a load of people... Something's not adding up here.

Hey, the Bible is 100% true.  How do I know?  The Bible is true because the Bible says the Bible is true.

The Lord of The Rings says The Lord of The Rings is true... That makes it 100% true. There's even photographic evidence, I have it...

Flat Earth Debate / Re: I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT!
« on: April 01, 2007, 10:18:13 AM »
That's it.  I have seen the light.  I woke up this morning and realized the FE is just...not possible.  I mean how can gravity not exist?  I've even witnessed a Foucault pendulum at my old alma mater rotate to knock over golf tees!  GPS doesn't require satellites?  Pfft!  Google Earth?  I've used it to see my house!

How could I have been so blind?!?  From this day forward, its RE ALL THE WAY!!

Good Man!

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Who's paying the government?
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:09:58 AM »
I said:

Planes fly Geodesic line across the world, in a flat world they'd just go in straight lines. Their computers and mapping systems have this sort of stuff in them.
They follow their compasses, which always point North.

That's pure BS and you know it. Planes follow planned, mapped routes.

Then you said:

And how do they know they are on those routes?

You said:

And how do they know they are on those routes?

If a plane were flying, from somewhere in central USA to Britain. The planned route would follow a geodesic line heading a little bit north and curving over the atlantic and ending up in Britain. And about halfway there they would end up somewhere over the atlantic ocean. Yes?

In a flat earth model, at roughly halfway the plane would be over the arctic.

The pilot (or any of the passengers) looks out of his window at this point, when the planned route says he should be over the ocean, and sees the arctic, snowy plains and whatnot, beneath him.

That's how he would know he wasn't on the planned route.

« on: March 29, 2007, 04:04:10 AM »

But if they were flying, lets say from somewhere in central USA to France or Britain. Then when they were about halfway there then their instruments and autopilot would be telling them they were somewhere over the atlantic, maybe just off the coast of greenland or somewhere around there. But on a flat earth map, they would be over the arctic.

I still havn't had an answe to this... it's been a week now.

eu·phe·mism [yoo-fuh-miz-uhm] –noun
1.   the substitution of a mild, indirect, or vague expression for one thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt.
2.   the expression so substituted: “To pass away” is a euphemism for “to die.”

I don't think 'fact' is thought to be offensive, harsh, or blunt so I don't think "Flat Earth" can be a euphemism for "fact"

Then you haven't been here very long at all.  ::)

I've been here awhile and, quite frankly, havn't seen anything atall to convince me of a flat earth.

Then you're lying. Same end result. You see what you choose to see, and argue with what cannot be seen. That's a paradox that a mental health professional can help you with.

Lying about what? If you can show me some undisputable evidence that says the earth is flat then I may be swayed, but until then I'll stand by what evidence shows me.

okay. Basically this whole forum is just a marketing ploy for TOM BISHOP  to sell his book 'Earth Not A Globe'. As midnight first point out here:

http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=12017.0

It's all a clever marketing technique! And who over the course of these forums has given up the most references to 'ENAG'? That's right! From what I can tell It's none other than our own beloved Tom.

 ;D

I actually have been wanting to OWN a copy of this book. But then I realized that all of this "get the book" is a truly brilliant marketing technique. Fascinates me.

WOW! I think you actually got it there! Seriously! That would explain everything:
Why no FE'er can give any  kind of good argument for their case;
The amount of referalls to that book;
Tom Bishop's strange fascination with it... wait a minute...

"Tom Bishop" Is the guy who wrote ENAG and he set up this site for money!

New...Topic...MUST...TELL PEOPLE!

Flat Earth Debate / Re: moon light
« on: March 19, 2007, 09:17:37 AM »
Franc, please check the FAQ as you are diagreeing with the stated FE stance.  The Earth isn't an infinite plane and the moon is a spotlight as the sun (according to the FE FAQ).

Franc isn't exactly your standard FE'er... he's more of the "all hail Blinko the wanderer for discovering that the world is infinite" type.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: moon light

so it reflects sunlight?

Yes.

But the sun(s) are the same distance from the earth as the moon right? so it (they) shine directly down and also have another "offshoot" of light over to the moon?

26
Flat Earth Debate / Re: moon light
« on: March 17, 2007, 12:22:10 PM »
Oh come on ppl

Every self-respecting non-bogus honest FE'er knows very good that there is no such thing as the moon...

What we call moon is actually a black&white reflection of EARTH from the outer layers of the atmosphere. It just looses its color on the way because atmosphere is not such a good mirror. And you cant see it in the morning because an atmosphere doesnt reflect unless its dark.

Even with naked eye you can see the outlines of the continents... And it's why we only see one side of the moon - We always see our side's reflection of course!!! QED

Oh man that's a good one! Seriously I think that could be the funniest thing I've read on this site since Franc started telling us about Blinko the Wanderer.

First off, I often see the moon in the mornings.
Second, get a map of the world. Your part of the world. Compare it with the moon and tell me if you see the same shapes.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: United Nations: hiding the truth in plain sight
« on: March 17, 2007, 12:20:13 PM »
The united nationt includes countries from all over the world. It would be inpossible to show them all on a 3D globe picture.

So you acknowledge that Round Earthism cannot be represented, and thus is a sham? Interesting.
It is impossible to demonstrate any complete 3D model in 2D form without distorting it.  This really shouldn't confuse any educated person.

You are a prime demonstration of the confusion inflicted by public schools.

Fanc, go find a model globe. Look at it from only one angle without rotating or moving it. If you can see aaaaaaaaaalll of the land massed on it at the same time then take a picture and post it on here to show us.
