HOW would their would be evidence for truth?
What?

Correction: HOW would their word be evidence for truth?

Still wrong "their". You should have used a there. their implies possession.

I did mean possession, as in 'their word' instead of 'our word'.

What my bro is showing is simply a parody on how FEers propose theories that mimic RE concepts.  None of what he ever says is the truth.  For example, he believes glacier recession and temperature rises cause sea levels to fall.  Surprisingly, no one has debunked his theory yet (albeit an easy one to debunk).

Flat Earth Debate / Re: The Laser Experiment
« on: July 03, 2007, 04:41:34 PM »
the speed of light is the speed of light. It does not matter what medium it is in, it is still the absolute speed. Just because its speed may be a bit slower in water than in space that does not mean that we can travel this new speed.

Nothing can travel faster than light in a vacuum.  Light is slowed down through a medium due tointerference as well as space-time curvature.

In an effort to quell the idiocy of the RE's in this thread, I'll go ahead and vouch for The Engineer's piloting ability. The picture is real. The license is real.

I cannot reasonably believe him to be a pilot without adequate proof, not by your own testament.  IF he presents athis adequate proof, then I will believe him.

Such a low resolution image can easily be faked as well.  You need more than a picture of a license (like said above it could be another image posted from an internet source).

Have you ever edited a low resolution image? And at the angle his picture is?

The Engineer is telling the truth i'll put the odds at 10,000:1

Has it occurred to you that there is a very good possibility that the image is a scan of someone else's license.  ::)

Actually, there were some pictures that detailed curvature.  I have not yet found a picture showing a flat surface from high altitudes.

There are also pictures showing curvature of the horizon from sea level. In reality there is no such curvature.

What do pictures taken with the wrong lens type prove?

It proves that pictures detailing a flat horizon is not proof that the Earth is flat.

Tom = stumped.

The lighting expert does not address that specific picture you've linked. She addresses a different one with the light source behind the observer. The shadows are so dispersed in the specific picture she addresses that no amount of sloping could create the shadows seen. Watch the movie.

You can clearly see a slope to the right.  This explains the distorted shadow of the rock in the upper right corner.

I love RE theory. Feel free to claim the curveature of the earth is observeable, but do so without evidence.

We had this experiment before, Only about 3 RE'ers braved the storm and posted images of the horizon from a plane. I walked the RE'ers through opening the images in paint, drawing a line on the horizon, and noticing it was actually flat.

Perhaps there are some brave RE'ers here today?
... didn't think so. But dont let me stop you from posting evidence-free claims.

Where on my license does it say that I can only fly a Cessna 152?

A picture of a license is not proof that its your license.

He has creditability in that, he has been a member longer than I have.

Their is evidence that he is not a pilot, since he is unwilling to prove otherwise. Their is evidence that I am, even if that evidence is that their is no proof that I'm not a pilot. You can stop playing the credibility card now.

He has credibility because he is intellectually superior to you, and has shown that he's a credible source of information and witty posts. Meaning, you can go fuck yourself. Also, nice photoshopping.

Proof of these witty comments and credibility, please?

The birthdate, date of issue, hair color, eye color, rating, and height all being the same would be an absolutely astronomical coincidence.

Not true.  They are quite common.  Also, the weight is different.

Wow, well if Gulliver is on-board, I guess I have NO CHOICE but to believe everything you say! ::)

Fact of the matter is that TheEngineer has a far better reputation on here than either of you two fools, and nobody's going to believe you, so it's rather pointless. On a sidenote, how much you want to bet this whole incident is because TheEngineer wasn't on his computer a couple hours after he was sent a PM?

~D-Draw

Reputation does not prove hes a pilot.

False.  In every child there are genes found that are not identical to the genes found in either parent.

Is this the result of just mutation or are there other processes involved?

I had a similar experience when I worked as an amusement park ride operator.  Every morning I would go up the lift of Nitro, a 230 ft. roller coaster, to reset E-stops and you can feel quite some sway.  Not only is it windy but sometimes its masked in fog making visibility hard and is often times very brisk.  So I can see how that job is dangerous due to the temperatures and low visibility.

Philosophy, Religion & Society / Re: Homophobes
« on: June 25, 2007, 08:47:59 AM »

So, evolution marks out gay beings from the start. If it appears that evolution has a purpose, it is because of the workings of the two above discussed principles. Their end effect is a kind of optimization, even though no intelligent entity is responsible for the development. Also, evolution is evident on such long time intervals that the whole history of the human civilization is just a brief period. After all, todayís humans differ slightly, if at all from ancient Romans, but gay sex was present in their societies, too.

And, we reach our conclusion. Homosexuality is a social phenomenon, ultimately connected with the humansí psyche and not their survival instincts. When civilizations formed, the evolutionís mechanism of natural selection was severely weakened, because there were living conditions even for the weak and it was considered uncivilized to eliminate the weak beings.

Homosexually is not a social phenomenon but often times a necessity to maintain social order. If you do not believe me then you need to research bonobo society

Give me 10 good looking whores and i'm set for life. I don't want 72 virgins

Those 72 virgins are going to be 72 good-looking whores when you are done with them  :o

You have to remember they're virgins for a reason. How many hot virgins have u met in the past year that are above the age of 14?

I have met many. They include Jesus, Isaac Newton, and you.

I hope thats not what Allah met by 72 virgins (relch) otherwise he can shove it!

So you wanna spend all of eternity with jesus icaac newton and me?
I'm flattered and disgusted.....
