The main difference between Judeism and Christianity, is in Jesus. Jews don't believe that Jesus was the messiah, in fact, Jews don't believe that the messiah has come, while Christians do.

Er. They aren't the same god to the Christians and the Muslims  ::)

Point taken, I withdraw my arguments, and I mean that, without sarcasm.

what do you guys think about the ancient masters? tibetan monks who live inside the earth and listen into conversations and watch you undress through the floorboards.
im telling you people they arnt ancient masters.....ITS THE MOLE PEOPLE WATCHING US....DONT LET THEM FOOL YOU!http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=10909.0

Wait... I get to be spanked? Why wasn't I informed of this?!  ;D

Yes you were. In fact, you've already received your welcome spank.

I'm interested as to how two orbs when hung side by side will pull towards each other if there is no such thang as gravity in the FE theory.

Also, if the earth is moving upwards at 9.81ms, and you believe in Newtons laws of physics, why when i throw a ball upwards at a greater velocity than 9.81ms does it not appear to "float" in mid-air?
lol they beieve the Earth is going up at 9.8m/s/s.  The Earth is going like 20 times the speed of light now according to them.

Lol, you don't know nothing about relativistic physics.

Lol you mean the term gamma?  1 over the square root of 1-v^2/c^2.  I know all about relativistic physics.  FEers don't. The relativistic Energy equation E=gamma m c^2 leads to the Earth requiring huge amounts for energy that comes from where?

Hmm, well, it looks like you do know something about relativistic physics, why did you spill out such a nonsense a few posts ago? In my opinion, the FE'ers don't know where does that energy come from, but they don't care. BTW, you could've also asked where does the Force that accelerates the universe come from, but you didn't, how come?

WRONG.
God is dead.

explain plz.

god was supposedly all powerful and immortal or someshit. how'd he die?

Greek Mythology said that the Gods could be killed with some special knife or something...

I was talking about the Christian god, Allah.

....

Allah is the middle eastern God isn't it?

Yeah. Atleast someone saw that.  :D

Allah and God are the same god, different mythology ;) .

Ummmmmm... I disagree. Practically the only (significant) thing the two religions have in common (considering dogmas, norms, beliefs etc. - not social/cultural functions) is that they are monotheistic.

Haven't really studied the dogmas, norms and beliefs of the Islam. I based my conclusion on teaching of modern day theologists. As I understand, they have a similar view of heaven and hell, they have a similar view of "the prophet" (Mohamed and Jesus), etc.

I'm only speculating here, I accept the possibility that I could be wrong.

@ Midnight - Awww, cmon, why would you say that.

Horizon? which seems to be a costant 17 miles away or something like that also "coincidentily" ties in exactly with the curvature of a spherical earth...

At exactly 17 miles, the atmosphere is too thick to look through, the way FE explain it.

9
Universal acceleration... hmm.... but what it can't explain is why i can't see everest from my back yard with a telescope....

care to enlighten me?

Yes, but first I'll point out that newton's law of gravity cannot explain that either :D .

You can't see everest because of the density of the atmosphere. The atmosphere gets thicker and thicker as you look further away, and at one point it gets too thick to look through.

That's the FE explanation.

My answer: You can't see Everest because you do not live on that part of the earth, and from, presumably, the States, you can't see Everest because of the curvature of the earth.

10
i am not at all trying to provoke anyone.... i just want your opinions on evidence that supports a spherical earth theory

i mean FE-ers need to do a lot of explaining if their theories are going to stick...

Yes, the newton's law of gravity supports the spherical earth theory.

The universal acceleration theory supports the flat earth theory.

They don't cancel themselves out, both theories are valid.

11
Mine works without assumptions and is based purely on experiments.

Good... then that proves newtons law is right and the earth is spherical, you can go about 2 ways to find the same answer and if they both match, then well.... something adds up.... the world is spherical...

You're blinding me with your logic.

As far as I'm concerned, you won this argument, because it looks to me as if you're just trying to provoke us.

Perhaps the earth rotates itself and the sun is stationary. It could look like this:

Love the animation.  But how would the sun move into different parts of its orbit like in the FAQ's?

Keep watching it, it's made up of 8,760 frames. As the animation goes on the arm holding the spotlight moves inwards and outwards.

I might be crazy, but I believe you, and I think I've seen it :D , of course, i could've imagined it.

Pfft as if you could prove creationism!
Pfffft... like you could prove evo... crap.

HA! Crazy theorys 1, real theorys a billion!
I call party foul If you are gonna type the number one as a 1... then you gotta do the same with a billion. I wanna see some zeros and commas mister.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: The Conspiracy

I mean, seriously, Iran, Venezuela, the leaders of these countries DESPISE us. They'd jump at exposing this, and hauling our pants down, in full view of the world.

Yup, but they aren't the part of the conspiracy. They believe the world is round because the bigger governments say so. Well...except Iran...but then again, have you ever wondered why has Iran started to prosper in the last few years?

(I crack myself up)

Newtons Law of gravitation can be shown at fundemental levels and not only for earth but other smaler day to day objects, and says that

F is proportinal to M1*M2/r^2

F= gravitational force= 9.81

M1 is mass of earth
M2 is an object on the earth (i.e. a human)

and r is the distance between the centre of the earth and the person
i.e. the radius of the earth (assuming it is spherical)

therefore F on a person on a SPHERICAL earth = G*M1*M2/ r^2

G is gravitational constant

therefore: you do the maths and it works it...

9.81 is not gravitational force, it's the gravitational constant for earth, on mars, it's 7.5 or sth like that i think.

g = 9.81 N/kg OR g = 9.81 m/s^2

THAT is the same thing on round earth. It makes no difference if you say that the earth pulls things with a force proportional to it's mass via this constant, or if you say that things accelerate toward the center of the earth, producing a force proportional to it's mass via the gravity's acceleration.

But it's moving at a speed just a tad below lightspeed, right?
So your family won't even have time to hear you say "Oh shit"

So are you when you fall off earth.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Gravitational confusion.
« on: February 27, 2007, 08:04:11 AM »
To make a long story short, if you fell off the edge of the earth, yu wouldn't even have time to see the earth move away from you.

Actually, you would see it move away from you, you would fall off earth moving at the speed earth is currently moving, but you wouldn't accelerate, you would move with a constant velocity, while the earth would keep accelerating.

Apparently my understanding of Relativity is incomplete. I'm much more of a quantum physics person... (Most things, such as relativity, newtons laws, most everything, actually, start falling apart at those levels.)

Probably made an idiot out of myself, but hey, it can't be helped.

Not really, as I understand it, quantum physics and classic and modern physics are connected.

But then again, electrical laws are my field, so what the hell :D .

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: i challenge YOU!!
« on: February 27, 2007, 07:50:03 AM »
I challenge you to prove me that you're an intelligent life form.
how would prooving i am an intelligent form of life help with the topic?  are you trying to insult me  :o and i wonder why that is? maybe because you have no evidence at all?

I don't have evidence? I've seen that the earth is curved, i don't need further evidence to tell me that it's not flat.

21
yeh, like i said... i am not disputing the value of g on earth.... which does vary slightly, as you found out in your experiment... for many reasons that support a round earth theory. But the fact that g= 9.81 assuming the earth is spherical.... engineer, i will get back to you with newtons law of gravitation..... and prove to you.... with maths..... the earth is spherical...

Listen to me :D , i know that the earth is spherical, and i know newton's laws of gravitation, but that does not mean that the FE model of "gravity" is not possible.

22
Flat Earth Q&A / Re: i challenge YOU!!
« on: February 27, 2007, 07:44:17 AM »
I challenge you to prove me that you're an intelligent life form.

23
An "experiment"?.... i am not denying the value of g on earth is not 9.81, but the reason why it is 9.81

Not only can it be done by observation (experiment) but by using newtons law of gravitation which assumes the world is round.

:D :D , what part did you not get?

i droped an object and measured how long it will take to hit the ground, then i repeated the process from a higher altitude, and then again, from the higher altitude, i used a stopping mechanism, and a clock with accuracy down to the fourth decimal spot. I observed the results, and with some calculus, came to the conclusion that the earth accelerated toward the object i dropped, with an acceleration of 9.82 m/s^2 .

24
yes, you can obtain the value 9.81 through observation AND by using newtons law of gravitation. Which fits in perfectly assuming the world is round.... another "coincidence" i suppose?
as i already said before, I did an experiment from which i could calculate earths acceleration.

What I get from it is that we are moving faster than the speed of light but it can't be seen like that because we are all seeing the earth from the perspective of moving with it.

Right. The thing is, to US, we aren't moving. Though, from the Earth's "Perspective", We're really hauling ass. The other thing, and what I meant by the mass comment, is that if you're strapped to a rocket, blazing at a good clip of C, your mass will increase. Same general theory. You may not be able to tell, from where you are that you're going 0.6C and climbing, but, anyone else will. The thing about relativity is, if you can't even SEE someone going 1.1C, then I HIGHLY doubt you'd be able to do it, lacking observation. EX. Particle, in an accelerator, going 0.7C. It's mass has increased. Smack it into something, you can tell. Relativity is fine and good, but C is, well, C. And, the earth, object of acceleration, has that perspective.

Addendum: Why would we not notice the change? If velocity is not added linearly, and acceleration is a change in velocity, then we would notice. Again, the earth has the perspective here. We don't particularly matter.

Edit: Here's a nice, simple test. By now, we should be upwards of .5C, correct? (Even non-linear, 1 year of Acceleration = C. We have AT LEAST 3000, much closer to billions of years.) Particle acceleration, upward. Once it breaks about .5C, we should lose it. Remember, we inherit velocity. We've been going this fast, so we don't notice, but we're still hauling ass. Fire a particle, it breaks C, and we don't see it.

No, it's not just us not noticing, it's differenet, in relativity, time and space change, a person out of our inertial frame does not see the earth as smaller, to him, the earth IS smaller.

Well, Dann answered :D , and it's pretty correct actually, but Nietzsche didn't mean it that way :D , or at least think he didn't, he was referring to the lack of moral values presented by Christianity, and the moral values Christianity preaches, are God.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Gravitational confusion.
« on: February 27, 2007, 06:52:36 AM »
Well, all I really have to ask, in referance to the link, is, what makes our speed different from where you are? I understand different people, different perspective bits. What I don't get, is the apparent "No one is there to hear the tree, so it didn't fall" Mindset.

I'm not sure if I understood the question right, but, that which makes our speed different for ourselves then for the whole universe, is relativity.

Umm...

you're analogy is null.

First of all, if I remember correctly, our mass is inverse proportional to velocity, but that too doesn't matter, since our mass is changing relative to the universe, not ourselves.

Sigh...I'll have to find the good ol' physics book.
