Flat Earth Debate / Re: The Earth is Spherical
« on: December 23, 2007, 04:31:36 PM »

I recommend you don't listen to TheEngineer. I'd also recommend that you don't take anything seriously that is said by most people defending a flat Earth. No one actually believes in the flat Earth, except a couple. The rest just make it a practice of exercising bad reasoning and bad use of science to argue in favor of something that's nothing more and nothing less than a little attempt at appearing as "free thinkers" and "independent minds", or whatever they'll have you believe. It's kind of cute, though, like watching a rebellious 14 year old argue with a school teacher simply for the sake of arguing something and showing his friends that he sure is a free spirit!

This needs to be put at the very top of the FAQS.

Both picture are taken from space. There's nothing 3D or special in them.

It's not so obvious for Antarctica, but do you believe this picture has been taken from space too?

What about this very realistic mountain?

What about those 2 very unrealistic pictures?

they only occur after 11PM based on where you are on the planet.

Wait, are you saying meteor showers can only be seen after 11pm? Maybe I'm not understanding this right, but I know I've seen meteor showers take place before 11pm. Or did I just read that wrong?

Agreed

Flat Earth Debate / Re: How are celestial bodies held above the flat earth?

It would have to be constant, right? Otherwise the stars would have fallen on us or disappeared from view?

I think D Draw was talking about people in Ancient times, before man learned to read and write. That far back they probably had no reason to believe in a round Earth.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Couple of questions for fe
« on: February 22, 2007, 06:51:14 PM »
If A Satellite doesn't orbit another body (like Earth) it isn't actually a "satellite", right? And Tom, I'm pretty sure you stated on another thread that satellites don't exist. I could be mistaken about that though.

Little side question: Has anyone visited a local science museum an looked through the telescope (provided your local museum has one) when they have it pointed at the moon? I've done this along with some friends and could see the American flag actually on the moon. Anyone else done this? Just satisfying my own curiosity thanks.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Serious Question for all FE's
« on: February 21, 2007, 07:10:13 PM »
The single dumbest thing I've seen anyone do on these forums, besides say the Earth is flat, is this....

"In FE Literature there are three celestial bodies that inhabit the sky. The Sun. The Moon. And the Shadow Object."

P.S. Dead Kangaroo, I love your avatar lol I can't look at it and not laugh.

Saying that space exploration is a hoax is a straight slap in the face of every man and woman that have been to space. Especially those that died on the Columbia. Could you tell the families of those astronauts that space exploration is bullshit?
