Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Common Sence

There seen to be a hell of a lot of grey areas and spaces in this theory. i.e

Q: Explain magnetism is there is no South pole. Discussed in http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7168 and http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1361&highlight=magnetic+field

It is explained in the first of those threads

Q: How does the atmosphere stay on the Earth?

Held in place by the ice wall?

Quote

Q: Explain the Coriolis force?

The sun is not rotating, the air mass that is heated directly below it is. As the sun moves in its orbit, it imparts a spin, in oppostite directions, on either side of its orbit.

Q: Why does the hull of a ship disappear over the horizon before the mast does?

I don't know. Maybe it doesn't

Q: If the moon is a spotlight, why can I see a "man" in the moon (shadows cast by the sun on the hills and mountains on it) last I checked a light can't contain shadows.

They aren't shadows, they are imperfections in the light - in the same way that a bulb with black paint on it would have dark areas

Q: Explain fully the optical illusion causing sunrises and sunsets.

Surely a little common sence could be used to used here. What do you trust a patchy and mostly farfetched theory, i.e. flat earth. Or a theory which is proven by all the laws of physics, ROUND EARTH. It doesnt take much to work that one out. Also most of the FE arguments involve a conspiracy theory. I find it hard to believe that any government or individual would invest that much money or resources to keep a "secret" which serves them no apparent  benefits.

The laws of physics which don't make sense?
Gravity?

Also note that I didn't mention the conspiracy in my answers.

I would pay you (hypothetically of course, i wouldnt actually waste my money on anything so buttock-numbingly inane as this) just to take a load of FE'ers up to prove to them that the earth is round.

They wouldn't actually take you up - they would just use a very sophisticated simulator to make you think that you were in space.

Flat Earth Q&A / When did you decide the earth was flat?

Once again, the only solid that always projects a round shadow is a sphere.
Two parallel circles will always produce round shadows on each other, regardless of position or distance.

But the FE theory states that both the moon and the sun always lie above the terrestrial plane, does it not?

Therefore the earth cannot cast a shadow on the moon

I'm quite interested, but I'm not sure what is included in it, and whether it would be a worthwhile purchase.

No, because the nines recur for infinity.

Infinity minus one is still infinity

the highest point on earth is only 7 miles above sea level, and the lowest point 8 miles below it

Really?
The lowest point on the earth is 8 miles below sea level?

Then, by your 'round earth' model, most of the world doesn't exist- only the north pole (the north pole being the highest point of the sea) and 8 miles below it exist. Which would mean there is only a small segment of a sphere. Not a whole sphere.

Unless, of course, you are suggesting that the 'round earth' has a diameter of only 8 miles?

I don't think anyone is going to believe you on that point.

Stop posting fake pictures.

You honestly think that you will be allowed to take photos of the ice wall and show them to people?

if the earth is flat how come ppl arn't falling off the earth every day????

Because of the ice wall, silly.

And no-one lives very close to the ice wall anyway.

And is the earth is round, how come people aren't falling off the bottom of the earth every day?

Because, you say, there is something called 'gravity'.

Which sounds like a pretty ridiculous idea to me.

I acknowledge the fact that drugs such as heroin and cocaine used to be used medicinally, but, that was in a time that people knew very little about drugs.  In the past couple of hundred years, we have discovered the harmful properties of these substances and have since stopped using them as medicine and made them illegal.

Cocaine is still used.
When I cut my arm once, they put a mixture of cocaine and adrenaline on it.
I guess to numb the pain.
