Flat Earth Debate / More curvature questions for FET

CURVATURE IMPLEMENTATION
An essential feature of the main linac is its curvature.  With the curvature radius of the Earth’s surface of ∼6400 km and the linac length of ∼12 km the maximum trajectory sagitta is about 2.8m.

So on a flat earth the ends of the SLAC are buried deeper below the surface than the center?

You guys sure do have a good time trying to bring each other down. Why do you do that? Is it because you've run out of answers because you've reached the end of your learning and can't think of anything else intelligent to say?

I asked the question yesterday about photons and, I forget who said it, but I think they called me stupid. I will as again to see if I get a derogatory response.

If photons are real and it takes electrons to produce them, then where are the electrons in the vacuum of space. I've heard that space is pretty much empty of everything. I wouldn't think light or radio waves could propagate in space. If you just want to call me stupid, or you don't have an answer, please don't respond.

Let's see... what exists between the electrons?

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Direct Chile to Sydney Flight
« on: August 21, 2015, 09:21:39 PM »
I have been continuing to look into this matter, and it all seems a bit fishy to me. While the Qantas 28 flights are shown to be complete, the log history for the Qantas 27 flights generally tend to trail off and disappear. Note the following link:

http://i.imgur.com/zZrvzER.png

I also discovered this strangely exuberant propaganda starring none other than the late 33rd degree Freemason Ron Hubbard's poster child: John Travolta. It celebrates the wonder of this formerly illusive non-stop flight:

" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">

These two flights also fail to show up on other tracking sites such as planefinder.net.

Although none of this added information provides definitive proof of anything, it does raise some red flags for me.

Yes, well, NASA is trying to keep their teleporter under wraps without which the flight time would be much longer. The pilots, crew and passengers don't seem to notice that they get teleported but trackers get all f&*ked up and John Travolta, gads how could they make that mistake! Might as well have chosen Red Skelton if he were still alive.

I was banned from a Facebook group because I provided formulas and facts to prove the earth is a globe. Before that I never knew anyone seriously thought the earth was flat. They knew the earth was round thousands of years ago

Lots of people dropped acid in the sixties. The ones that survived hang out here.

Oh I'd love to discuss the evidence in the young/old earth debate, but I think this is not the appropriate place to do so.

So would I. At least nuclear physics is on the table as a reality in such a discussion. In FE "discussions" even gravity is denied. Not a lot is left to wield an argument with amoung these folks.

If you want to see what you're getting yourself into take a gander at some posts from Excelsior John.

I am a YEC, so I know what it feels like to be exposed to ad hominem argumentations and irrelevant arguments. However, I do like good debates with good arguments.

They will not accept your facts just as you will not accept facts for an old earth. That is because the motivation behind belief trumps facts and data.

I've helped construct plenty of elevator shafts, my level of education on the subject is just fine.

I'm taking the stairwells from now on.

Flat Earth Debate / Re: Ice Ring Debunked
« on: August 15, 2015, 10:55:55 AM »
The Ice Ring has been debunked so many times it is so stupid it is funny. Or maybe it is so stupid it is not funny. At least a large percentage of the earth's 7 billion inhabitants think so. It just depends on what kind of sense of humor you possess.

The site is kind of quirky and has some entertainment value. Perhaps it is intended as an introduction to critical thinking. It attracts a mix of the tin hat crowd, trolls, and educated people who seem to enjoy the banter and show up to relax a bit after work. It's as enjoyable as watching a good sports game on TV. So grab some popcorn.

Under the north pole. And yes, compasses work pefectly well on a flat magnet with the south pole under the north pole.

Let's work with this. Now all you need to do is acknowledge that  stars circle the south pole.  The sun in December means the sun is also on the bottom of the disk.  People must be on the bottom of the disk as well as the top to record this. FE explanations of gravity must then be in error. There is no tight curvature at the equator so pump up the disk into a sphere and whala!

The "south pole" is likely under the flat Earth.

"Under"???? Why?
Why not?  Compasses would still work, and the pole does not have to be at the "edge".  This would explain a lot.
Like a FE model slooooowly morphing into a RE model.

Why would a compass not work on something flat?  Maybe you are trying to claim that compasses do not work on flat things?  I have posted many pictures of the opposite of what you say.  I can post them again, if you are going to make yourself look ignorant by claiming it is not possible.  Perhaps you are doing this on perpose because your shill paycheck did not come in?  Just wondering.

Whaaat?  I am just observing that when the data finally has to be dealt with, and the model gets modified, it gets slightly closer to the RE model. When you manage to deal with the totality of the data you will be constrained to reject the FE model and adopt the RE model.

Shill paycheck? Are you paranoid delusional? Oh wait, flat earthers even suspect each other of being shills.

http://www.atlanteanconspiracy.com/2015/03/flat-earth-society-controlled-op.html

Yes, definitely paranoid delusional.

1) What force pulls the sun and moon up and down the atmoplane?

It is called the leg-pull force.

Quote
2) What is this type of movement called? Where the sun and moon rotate around a point, but also go up and down while rotating?

It is called the pole dance of the celestial orbs.

Quote
3) Has the sun diameter been measured to be smaller right before and right after a solar eclipse? Or has the moon been measured larger in the same instances?

Has the sun diameter been measured to change at all as it skips about 3,000 miles above the FE surface?

Quote
4) How far are the sun and the moon from each other in a solar eclipse? In a lunar eclipse?

Close enough to exchange bodily fluids by which new stars come into being.

Quote
5) Does the fact that during an eclipse the sun is coming very close to the moon alter the bioluminescent bacteria in some way?

Yes, they go on holiday.

Quote
6) Is there a way to predict solar and lunar eclipses taking in consideration the earth is flat, without using RE algorithm?

FEers don't like math.

Quote
7) Are the effects of harmful moonlight exposure mitigated when in lunar eclipse?

A lunar eclipse causes werewolf de-transformation although they still maintain their werewolf persona in human form going on serial killing sprees.

And now that you have been let in on the secret please don't report me to the mods.  :-X

Flat Earth General / Re: The Zetetic Method -- Why it fails
« on: August 13, 2015, 03:27:22 PM »
Actually, the zetetic method is very similar to the scientific method, with the exception that you do not make a hypothesis first that you then try to prove.

Falsifiability is the ability of a theory—a working framework for explaining and predicting natural phenomena—to be disproved by an experiment or observation. The ability to evaluate theories against observations is essential to the scientific method, and as such, the falsifiability of theories is key to this and is the prime test for whether a proposition or theory can be described as scientific. Put simply, if a theory cannot be falsified, there is no point in even examining the evidence.
http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Falsifiability

Is Flat Earth falsifiable? Do you perform experiments that might falsify the "theory" so that it can be replaced with something that more closely reflects reality? If not then the Zetetic method is not the least bit similar to the scientific method.

16
That would be because you're either a halfwit or a troll.

My bet is on the latter. Perhaps one of the site owners out for a stroll. It's curious what humans will fap to.

Flat Earth General / The Zetetic Method -- Why it succeeds
« on: August 12, 2015, 09:43:49 PM »
...false ideas don't survive forever in the Scientific method whereas false ideas cannot be discarded with the Zetetic method.

Well that's the point I think. Science has disproved much of fundamental religion and so he invented the "Zetetic way of thinking" to supplant the scientific method. In the introduction he denounces "theorizing," and then proceeds to lay out experiments to support the hypothesis that the earth is flat. So he contradicts himself right off the bat. He has his conclusion and doesn't want to change it in any way, so the game is to fight a war against the evidence. Like all fundies of every stripe he has put the cart before the horse and can't get anywhere. But that's the point, to remain where he started.

Quote
The question,  is once someone starts down this false rabbit hole,  how in the hell do they ever get out. I suspect it's a mind trap that's inescapable.

They don't want to escape. The motivation for this behavior is rooted in the fact that reality is bleak and uncomfortable for most people to come to grips with. A comfortable fantasy makes you feel happier. So fight science because when you are able to explain things then there's no more room for sky fairies.

And then there are the obvious trolls like Yendor who are just trying to get a rise out of you.

I have gone on a Physics community and message boards challenging anyone to produce empirical evidence for a body of water arcing. Not one person can produce one example.

Can we have a link to these message board discussions, please? After reading this thread I'm guessing that, like here, you got plenty of examples but you simply chose to deny all of them without cause.

Here is a pic of a TVI filter with the components soldered just to the coaxial cable

Quote
the copper is only there to solder the components to. In fact these types of RF filters can be made without any substrate or enclosure at all. I believe you can say this would be a non conductive working RF filter.

Show an example of a non-conductive RF filter.

21
Incidentally, the copper is only there to solder the components to.

Which explains the scratched paths through the copper plating, oh wait.
If this is what "going basic" does to people we're going to need a lot more caretaker facilities before it is adopted by the general public.
Since it is just like going commando I suggest you put that pair of undies back on your head before the rest leaks out.

22
The topic is about the curvature of water. Not one person has provided documentation, empirical evidence of a body of water arcing on a surface.

The video is of the water on the surface of the earth.

Quote
So why do you believe water can arc over a globe when you never seen with your own eyes?

I am not paranoid delusional. Moving the goalposts? What happens if they decide to send a flounder into space? The goalposts move again to your eyes?

23

I hope you belive now that the Earth is Round.

This is from Redbull and it is real because I was there

Obviously a fish eye lens. Even before he takes off you can see the distortion. Check the cam from inside his capsule. It's not using a fish eye lens and through it you can see the horizon is a straight line.

Why do you post multiple threads on the same topic? All you get in reply are multiple responses with the same answer.

On October 4, 2004, the 47th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik, SpaceShipOne (SSO) became the first private vehicle capable of carrying three passengers to fly into space twice within a two-week period.
http://rebirthofreason.com/Articles/Younkins/From_NASA_to_Commercial_Space_Enterprises.shtml

Non NASA video from space:
http://www.scaled.com/projects/tierone/video
Note in the last video that your accusation of utilizing a fisheye lense fails where the surface of the earth passes through the center of the shot.

You see in the center of a fisheye lense the curvature is gone. In the video the curvature of the earth viewed at the edge of the scene moves through the center of the field of view and maintains the same degree of curvature.

24
That can easily be fake. The "photo" looks like a nice painting.

If you are going to show the earth from "space" then make sure it is not from any government agency, it doesn't use a fish eye lens, and it is video.

25
You might as well ask why would anyone want to see live feed of anything.

Who wouldn't want to have a full live view of the supposed planet we live? I want it.

It's 2015. NASA has received billions and billions of dollars. This should be a piece of cake for them. What are they doing with all that money?

http://www.cleveland.com/nation/index.ssf/2008/10/how_we_have_benefited_from_nas.html

27
That doesn't count...

https://www.fourmilab.ch/gravitation/foobar/

" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">

This is mass attracting mass perpedicular to the earth's pull. If mass attracts mass without any other gravity present what form do you think it will take?

28
People will reflexively say gravity arcs water but how come it is never been demonstrated that "gravity" can curve water on a smaller scale?

" class="bbc_link" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">

Quote
And if gravity is so strong that it can make ocean water arc then how come it is not strong enough to prevent a helium balloon to rise or a little bug from flying?

Watch the whole thing. At one point it incorporates an air bubble that finally escapes. Buoyant force I believe it's called. Some of my cousins have swim bladders though I have lost mine.

Flat Earth Q&A / Re: Venus changes size?
« on: August 10, 2015, 11:38:18 AM »
Nevermind, I figured it out all by myself. The mass that we say is Venus is conserved. It changes shape from a small ball and stretches itself out into a cresent shape and then relaxes back into a ball form.
I can do Flat Earth science! Where do I get my degree or certificate?

But I'm curious. How is this any different from mere apologetics?
